Philipp Strahl

Phil Strahl, C.S.I., grew up in the town of Graz, Austria where he attended the HTL Ortweilschule-School of Art and Design with a focus on audio-visual media design and photography. After spending a year in civil service, he moved to Salzburg, Austria, to continue his education at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. In 2010 he graduated with a Magister (FH) degree in computer animation and multimedia art, followed up by a Master's degree in Controlling and Project Management in 2014. While still in college, he began working in various roles in small-scale TV productions and commercials and soon found his interest in digital composition of digital renderings and live-action footage, and color. In 2008 he spent half a year in Berlin where he contributed to a number of theatrical and television productions as intern compositor at Rise FX. In 2010 he joined the Red Bull Media House in Salzburg as resident colorist where over the years he helped define the company's signature look. Phil has since been responsible for look and color on hundreds of features of any size while also freelancing in international productions and occasionally teaching color grading at the FH Salzburg. In 2016, Phil was one of the first to join the Colorist Society International (CSI).
