Amazon Cancels ‘Citadel’ Spinoffs ‘Honey Bunny’ and ‘Diana’
Image
“Citadel” spinoffs “Honey Bunny” and “Diana” have been canceled after one season each at Amazon MGM Studios.

Rather than continuing as individual series, the shows, which are based in India and Italy, respectively, will be woven into the mothership series’ upcoming second season, which will premiere in the second quarter of 2026.

Per its logline, Season 2 of “Citadel” will take place one month after the events of Season 1, following the spies underground as they’re being hunted by Manticore agents around the world. They’re pulled out of hiding to join forces with a new team of unconventional spies when Manticore’s Brazilian billionaire Paulo Braga threatens to unleash a cataclysmic piece of technology, built by Citadel’s own Bernard Orlick, into the world.

“While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of ‘Citadel’ will be our most exhilarating yet,” Amazon MGM Studios television...

Image
Anupam Kher Silver Linings(Photo Credit –Wikimedia/Instagram)

Anupam Kher is widely regarded among the finest actors of Indian cinema. Known for his wide ranges of performances in Bollywood over the years, Kher has also gone on to be a part of many International films. These include Bend it Like Beckham (2001), Lust, Caution (2007), Hotel Mumbai (2019), and most memorably Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook (2012).

It was a romantic comedy-drama film directed by David O. Russell and featured a stellar cast alongside Kher. It was led by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, and the legendary Robert De Niro played a supporting role. While many remember Silver Linings Playbook for its stellar cast and compelling performances, there’s an untold story from the film’s set, one that involved Kher standing his ground in front of acting giant like Robert De Niro. For Kher, it wasn’t about fame or screen time, it was about dignity.

This Day That Year: Revisting 2019’s Romeo Akbar Walter starring John Abraham
Image
Subhash K Jha, in a new installment of This Day That Year, revisits Romeo Akbar Walter which starred John Abraham, as it completes 6 years.

What makes them do it? No, I don’t mean the bravehearts like Meghna Gulzar and now Robby Grewal who dare to make films about those daredevils who risk their lives to act as Indian spies in Pakistan. But those unsung daredevils who sneak into Pakistan to glean information for their beloved motherland.

Towards the end of this intelligently written, well-crafted espionage drama, our spy hero’s boss, played with wizened aplomb by Jackie Shroff, mumbles, “He gave preference to his motherland over his own mother.”

Just a while back, John Abraham’s Romeo/Akbar/Walter had made Shroff promise, “No matter what happens, my Ammi must be looked after.”

Raw hits those raw nerves that all patriotic cinema avoids. This time, we go beyond the...

“Monkey Man, Any Wick Way You Can… Dev Patel’s Senseless Bloodbath Is In Bad Taste” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
There is no telling about tastes. Dev Patel’s senseless bloodbath Monkey Man (Dev plans a Hanuman avatar) has been nominated for a BAFTA award in the Outstanding Debut as director category. Sobhita Dhulipala who has a role as commodious as Jacqueline Fernandez in Fateh, is very happy.

I am happy for her. But not quite in the waltzy mode over the film. Watching Dev Patel’s much-extolled directorial debut, rightly banned in India and from Netflix where it was scheduled for streaming, is a painful experience. The stylized relentless violence, with stunt passages choreographed like the opposite of a ballet, are sickening in their self-important gratuitousness.

But I would forgive the endless pointless carnage—to each his own John Wick, I guess—were it not for the strange uncalled-for references to Hindu mythology that keep popping up with nagging regularity all through the sanguinary excursion, as if to remind...

10 Action Movies With Surprisingly Deep Stories
Image
Action movies are dismissed in some circles as mindless displays of violence, but many of the genre's best movies are just as deep and intelligent as any drama. The action genre tends to get a bad wrap, because people generalize the genre based on some of its least substantial popcorn flicks. While it's true that action has the potential for shallow spectacle, this isn't the norm.

Many of the best action movies ever have deep stories that leave audiences with a lot to think about, even if some people simply see them as explosive and entertaining. In many cases, the action is only given meaning by the dynamics between the different characters and their personal journeys. This helps make action movies more exciting, and it also makes them linger in the memory.

Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024)
Citadel: Honey Bunny (Season 1) Review, Recap & Ending Explained: Who is after Honey and Bunny?
Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024)
Citadel: Honey Bunny (Season 1), created by Raj & Dk, is a prequel to the origin story – Citadel, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The Indian spy action series stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan as the titular characters, with the show largely set between the 1990s and 2000s. The series sets the stage for Priyanka’s character, Nadia, as we learn about her origin story, including how her parents met and what led to their eventual fate.

Citadel: Honey Bunny embraces a retro feel, paying homage to 90s pop culture when Bollywood experienced a major transformation, introducing a new cultural era. The prequel also explores how the world of technology was shifting during that time, and how people with sinister agendas tried to seize the latest technological advancements to gain power and control over the vulnerable. While the series follows a rather predictable storyline, with a constant chase for...

“Citadel: Honey Bunny is sharply written and expertly formulated” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
To set the record straight, Raj-dk’s Indian avatar of the Citadel streaming on Amazon Prime Video is vastly superior to its original American franchise. And yes, the bright young Kashvi Majumdar who plays Nadia, the character in this prequel who grows up to be Priyanka Chopra in The Citadel, is as good an actress as Priyanka.

Citadel : Honey Bunny is a lesson casual tautness.

Clambering assuredly into the Citadel franchise, Raj and Dk along with their regular script enhancer Sita Menon, deliver a bolt from the brew: the crazily speedy concoction is heady and always steady on its feet.

Many a times, I felt the narration would topple over under the burden of risky briskness. Somehow ,the plot is pinned to a position of unwavering steadiness even when the characters stand on shaky ground.Simran and Sikandar Kher play underdeveloped characters but never allow you to feel their inadequacies.

The Citadel spy universe from Amazon MGM Studios all began with Citadel in 2023, kicking off an expensive multi-series global storytelling event. Even with mixed reviews, the studio invested in creator David Weils vision to tell connected stories about a spy agency in ruins. The first spinoff was Citadel: Diana the second is Citadel: Honey Bunny. The former detailed undercover agent Diana Vavalieris journey out of enemy lines in Italy with the help of the heir of Citadels villainous competitor, Manticore. ‘Jigra’ Movie Ending Explained And Summary: Did Satya Rescue Ankur?
Image
Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra is not just about its story or strong acting performances; it’s much more than that. It’s about Bala’s love for cinema; it’s about the masterful cinematography by Swapnil S. Sonawane and the editing done artfully by Prerna Sehgal. The story might be a bit hit or miss for some, but for me personally, it’s a delight to watch a filmmaker as passionate as Bala get the means and resources to spread his wings. So let’s find out what happened in the film, what sorts of conflicts Alia Bhatt’s character, Satya, had on her way, and if she was successful in her quest.

Spoiler Alert

What happened to Satya’s father?

At the beginning of Jigra, we saw two kids enter their home and see their father jumping off from their balcony. Satya and Ankur were very young when both their parents passed away.
