This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Adam and Aimee Lou. He was cast in her new series Film Club late last year, and they spent a few months filming from 2024-2025. Aimee Lou wrote it, and Adam is one of the show’s stars. It’s expected to debut on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three later this year.

These new photos come just a few days after Aimee Lou shut down some major feud rumors with her White Lotus co-star.

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is a strikingly original and taut thriller series with a jaw-dropping reveal waiting at the end. A light aircraft with nine passengers crashes in the Mexican jungle, and everyone survives.

Today, Collider is pairing with Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Madison Gate Records to take fans behind the music. As we quickly approach the March 28 arrival of the Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue Original Score release, the team behind the limited series’ stunning soundtrack gives audiences an all-access pass to learn more about how the original score was created. Looping in the MGM+ series’ Ivor Novello-nominated composer Chris Roe, the musician was kind enough to film a handful of never-before-seen videos that explain where he got the idea for several of the production’s themes.

Before we jump into Roe’s demonstrations, for those who may not know, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is the latest series set for release on MGM+. Created and written by novelist and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz (Midsommar Murders), the project follows nine strangers who find themselves trapped in a Mexican jungle after their airplane goes down.

After the mic drop moment in Season 1, Episode 3, “Rapido”, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue gets medieval. With bodies piled up and suspects thinning out, murder is the only thing on the menu for someone. Either by suffocation, decapitation, or plain poisoning, people are being eliminated. Ammunition is running low, morale is at rock bottom, and trust has evaporated. With audiences watching from the sidelines, it is time for interrogation as Season 1, Episode 4, “The Short Straw,” applies some Quentin Tarantino tactics. Methods that will push some people to a breaking point and strip away their humanity.

Ramping up the tension with some old-fashioned torture might seem like a cliché, but Anthony Horowitz has waited long enough. Having burst onto our screens back in 2019 as budding baker Aimee Gibbs in Netflix’s Sex Education, the Mancunian’s star has been on the rise ever since. And now, hot on the heels of a top billed trip to The White Lotus with Walton Goggins for Season 3 of Mike White's bougie satire, Wood is getting ready to release Film Club, an original half-hour BBC romantic comedy-drama co-starring, co-written, and co-created by herself alongside House Of The Dragon and Big Boys star Ralph Davis.

In the show, set to air on the BBC later this year, Wood and Nabhaan Rizwan play Evie and Noa, inseparable besties who run a weekly film club from out of Evie's mum's garage (and may or may not have more than friendship on their minds.) Now, we here at Empire like to think...

Sex Education‘s Aimee Lou Wood’s BBC romantic comedy series Film Club has built out cast.

She is penning Film Club with Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon), who is also starring in the show, and added to the cast are Suranne Jones and Nabhaan Rizwan, whose Netflix drama Kaos was recently cancelled. Adam Long and Liv Hill are also starring.

Film Club has commenced filming in Manchester and will air next year on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three and later on ZDFneo in Germany. Gaumont UK is producing, with Fremantle handling international sales. Show was first announced back in February.

Plot follows Evie (Wood), who hasn’t left her home in six months after a ‘wobble’. She runs a film club in her garage as an escape with her best friend Noa (Rizwan) and whoever else turns up.

The BBC on Tuesday unveiled casting additions for its upcoming romantic comedy-drama series Film Club, including Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack, Vigil) and Nabhaan Rizwan (Kaos, In Camera, 1917).

The screenwriting debut from actors Aimee Lou Wood (Daddy Issues, Sex Education, White Lotus season 3) and Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon season 2, Othello) is described as a “piercingly funny and utterly heart-warming” six-part series by Gaumont for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three. Fremantle is handling global sales.

“Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn’t left the house in six months after a ‘wobble’, and Film Club is her escape,” reads a synopsis. “A weekly chance to create a world of wonder, deck the garage out in whatever the movie calls for and spend a few uninterrupted hours with Noa – her best friend and one of the few mates who still shows up.

“Kaos” star Nabhaan Rizwan has set his next project following the cancellation of the Greek mythology-inspired Netflix series.

He has joined the cast of upcoming BBC rom-com drama “Film Club” alongside “Doctor Foster” lead Suranne Jones. The show follows members of a film club as they find solace in their shared passion of cinema every week until one day some big news shakes things up.

“Sex Education” star Aimee Lou Wood was previously announced as the series lead Evie, who is recovering from a low period with the help of the club. Wood co-wrote the series alongside Ralph Davis (“House of the Dragon”), who will also appear in the show as Film Club newcomer Dominic. Prolific author Anthony Horowitz has scripted mystery drama Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue, here are the details.

Anthony Horowitz is perhaps best known for creating the Alex Rider franchise, which so far comprises fourteen novels, seven short stories, a critically maligned 2006 film and a popular television drama on Amazon Prime, the third and final series of which aired last month. He has also written many standalone novels and the terrific Horowitz Horror books of horror stories for older children.

However, he is just as prolific writing for the screen, creating the brilliant time travel drama Crime Traveller, which starred Michael French and Red Dwarf star Chloe Annett, ITV drama Foyle’s War and the television adaptation of his novel Magpie Murders.

The Russo Brothers have unveiled the first footage from their upcoming movie Cherry. The drama stars Tom Holland as a military veteran with extreme Ptsd. A24 has released a new trailer for filmmaker Dan Krauss’ ‘The Kill Team’, an adaptation of his award-winning 2013 documentary.

"Do I do the right thing and put myself in danger?" A24 has debuted the first trailer for an indie war drama titled The Kill Team, the narrative feature directorial debut of filmmaker Dan Krauss (who also directed the documentary 5B this year). This is based on the same events that inspired his own 2013 documentary also titled The Kill Team, about a young American soldier in Afghanistan is disturbed by his commanding officer's behavior and is faced with a moral dilemma. Described as "an urgent and explosive recounting of one of the darkest incidents in the not-so-distant history of American military exploits." Nat Wolff co-stars with Alexander Skarsgård, plus Adam Long, Jonathan Whitesell, Brian Marc, Osy Ikhile, Rob Morrow, Anna Francolini, and Oliver Ritchie. It's intriguing to see a film addressing the darker side of the American military, and how they often crossed the line in Afghanistan. This looks better than expected.

Atrocities don’t exist in a vacuum, and “The Kill Team” is most valuable — and chillingly effective — as an exposé of the means by which honorable young military men grow comfortable with perpetrating heinous crimes. Based on his 2013 documentary of the same name, writer-director Dan Krauss’ narrative retelling depicts the methodical murderous inculcation of a young American soldier in 2010 Afghanistan, led by a committed performance from Nat Wolff and a scarily sociopathic Alexander Skarsgård. Those star turns should help make the difficult film an easier sell to mainstream audiences when, after its Tribeca Film Festival premiere, it receives a theatrical release courtesy of A24.

As with the earlier nonfiction version, Krauss’ film concerns the Maywand District murders, in which a “kill team” of U.S. soldiers stationed in the Kandahar Valley executed a number of Afghan civilians and then covered up their crimes by staging the scenes to look like attacks.

The 18th Tribeca Film Festival launches this Wednesday 24th April at New York’s iconic Apollo Theater with the world premiere of Oscar-winner Roger Ross Williams’s documentary The Apollo, which focuses on the history and legacy of that very venue. Before the 2019 edition of the festival closes on Sunday, the 5th of May with the world premiere of Danny Boyle’s comedy Yesterday, Tribeca audiences will be treated to a vast array of TV, short film, online work, narrative feature and documentary screenings, plus special musical performances, onstage talks, anniversary screenings and reunions, as well as podcasts, video games and Vr experiences.

Who better to adapt non-fic to fiction than …. the filmmaker himself. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013, Dan Krauss moved into the 2015 June Screenwriters Lab to climb onto the fiction version of The Kill Team with casting taking place in October of 2016, and production beginning in September of 2017. Teamed with the exceptional cinematographer Stéphane Fontaine (Jackie), Alexander Skarsgård, Nat Wolff and Adam Long boarded the project before A24 swooping in for distrib rights this past month.

Gist: Based on the true story told in the docu, The Kill Team centers on Adam (Wolff), an eager American soldier who doesn’t fit in with his rowdy, trigger-happy squad and is coerced by his new sergeant (Skarsgård) into killing civilians against his will — or be killed by his own comrades if he blows the whistle on the scheme.…

Annecy, France — In further signs of growth on Europe’s animation scene, Grid Animation will go into production in 2019 on feature film “Crazy Island,” as it sets up TV series “Crazy Humans,” both riffs on the zany world of world famous Argentine cartoonist Guillermo Mordillo.

The new production announcements come as Grid, a building force in Europe, has opened a new animation studios in Lille, north-east France, and Spain’s Canary Island of Tenerife, in order to tap into new animation talent pools and financing facilities as it ramps up production.

Another sign of growth: Grid is one of the few companies at 2018’s Annecy Festival to have two features in major sections, both playing out of competition: “Captain Morten and the Spider Queen,” which segues from a world premiere at the 2018 Animafest Zagreb festival, and “Marnie’s World.”

Happy Valley's Adam Long has been cast as a series regular in the When the Street Lights Go On TV series pilot for Hulu, from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content. The pilot is an adaptation of a feature film script from writers Chris Hutton and Eddie O’Keefe. Brett Morgan has been tapped to direct will executive produce with Hutton and O’Keefe and Anonymous Content’s Chad Hamilton, Tariq Merhab, Michael Sugar, and Steve Golin.

The cast of When the Street Lights Go On include; Odessa Young, Max Burkholder, Kelli Mayo, Ben Winchell, Graham Beckel, and Luke Kirby. Per Deadline, Long will play, "17-year-old rebel Casper Tatum, a popular suspect in the small-town murder."

Sarah Lancashire and Steve Pemberton are to star in a new BBC One crime thriller.

Happy Valley is written by Last Tango in Halifax's Sally Wainwright, and a six-part series will air in 2014.

Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey), George Costigan (Unforgiven), Joe Armstrong (Robin Hood), James Norton (Rush), Adam Long (Waterloo Road), Karl Davies (Game of Thrones), Ramon Tikaram (EastEnders) and Charlie Murphy (The Village) will also star in the drama.

The series will follow Catherine (Lancashire), a police sergeant who leads a team of officers in a rural valley in Yorkshire. A staged kidnapping soon creates a domino effect and leads to several other serious crimes.

Earlier this month, Shane Meadows's heartfelt documentary Made of Stone bucked expectations by focusing as much on the fans in the ticket queue as on the Stone Roses themselves, and emerged as more an affectionate reminiscence than a journalistic document. Mat Whitecross's 1990-set Spike Island makes no claims to be documenting anything, except for a certain kind of devoted teenage fandom, and while it's far from revolutionary as a coming-of-age story, its game young cast elevate even the clichés.

A trailer for Spike Island has been released.

Directed by Mat Whitecross (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll), the coming-of-age drama focuses on a group of five Manchester teenagers in 1990.

With musical aspirations of their own, the group hatch a plan to deliver a demo tape to their idols, the Stone Roses, at the band's legendary Spike Island concert.

Elliott Tittensor and Nico Mirallegro lead the film's young cast, which also includes Jordan Murphy, Adam Long, Oliver Heald and Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke.
