John Cena's Worst Early Movie 'The Reunion' is Streaming on Tubi
Image
John Cena has made some good movies, and he has made some absolute dross. One of the latter is the 2011 movie The Reunion, which has found a surprising new audience since landing on Tubi this month. The film falls very much into the category that made many question whether Cena could make it as an actor, with the wrestler-turned-actor's attempt to deliver a nuanced performance falling mostly flat. Cena plays Sam, a suspended cop who gets caught up in a dangerous scheme while attempting to claim the inheritance left to him and his siblings by their late father. To many, the nuance was very much lost, and this was not the John Cena that would end up leading several huge franchise projects a decade later.

When it came out, The Reunion was one of Cena’s first movies, and, as would be pointed out by several critics, it was one of several critical bombs.

Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton in Jane Got a Gun (2015)
'Jane Got a Gun' International Trailer Starring Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton in Jane Got a Gun (2015)
After a particularly troubled production, Jane Got a Gun is finally getting set to hit theaters early next year. The Weinstein Company set the Western for release sometime in February 2016, but while we wait for the release date announcement, foreign distributor Mars Distribution has debuted the first international trailer, along with a new poster. We got our first look at the film with a photo of Natalie Portman that arrived in January, when it was still set to hit theaters on September 4. But a lot has changed since then.

The Western starring Natalie Portman was shot in 2013, but the production got off to a rocky start. Original director Lynne Ramsay abandoned the project on the first day of principal photography, which resulted in Jude Law dropping out as the main villain. Gavin O'Connor came aboard to replace the director, with Bradley Cooper momentarily stepping in to replace Jude Law, before...

Gavin O'Connor
Ewan McGregor Replaces Bradley Cooper in Jane Got a Gun
Gavin O'Connor
Ewan McGregor has replaced Bradley Cooper in Gavin O'Connor's upcoming drama Jane Got a Gun. We reported last week that Bradley Cooper had to depart the project after the Boston bombings delayed production on the currently shooting American Hustle, which threw his schedule into disarray.

The story centers on Jane (Natalie Portman) whose outlaw husband (Noah Emmerich) returns home barely alive after taking eight bullets. She reluctantly recruits a former lover (Joel Edgerton) to defend their property as her husband's gang comes to finish him off. Ewan McGregor will be taking on the role of the villain and leader of this outlaw gang.

Gavin O'Connor is directing from a script written by Brian Duffield and Anthony Tambakis. The project originally had Lynne Ramsay directing with Jude Law and Michael Fassbender starring.

Production is currently taking place in New Mexico.

Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton in Jane Got a Gun (2015)
Jane Got a Gun Loses Bradley Cooper
Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton in Jane Got a Gun (2015)
The troubled Western Jane Got a Gun suffered yet another setback today, when Bradley Cooper was forced to step away from the project. The actor is currently shooting American Hustle in Boston for director David O. Russell, and the schedule was pushed back due to the Boston Marathon terrorist bombings. He also has press obligations for The Hangover Part III, which lead to his departure.

The producers are currently trying to find a replacement as quickly as possible, seeking actors such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Hiddleston to fill their latest casting void. Bradley Cooper himself was a replacement for Jude Law, who backed out after director Lynne Ramsay abruptly quit on the first day of shooting. Gavin O'Connor is now directing, from a screenplay by Brian Duffield.

Natalie Portman stars as the title character, whose husband (Noah Emmerich) comes home riddled with bullet wounds. When the band...

Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper Replaces Jude Law in Jane Got a Gun
Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper is stepping in to replace Jude Law in the Western Jane Got a Gun. Jude Law dropped out of the project last month, just one day after original director Lynne Ramsay abruptly left the project on the first day of shooting.

Jude Law himself was a last-minute replacement, boarding the project last month to take over for Michael Fassbender. Jude Law backed out after Lynne Ramsay left, because he had joined the project specifically to work with her.

Gavin O'Connor is directing from a screenplay by Brian Duffield. The story follows Jane (Natalie Portman), a young wife whose husband comes home riddled with bullet wounds, clinging on to dear life. She seeks the help of an ex-lover (Joel Edgerton) when the outlaw (Bradley Cooper) who shot her husband comes back to finish off the job.

Bradley Cooper is currently shooting the Untitled David O. Russell Project, and will...

Jude Law
Jude Law Leaves Jane Got a Gun
Jude Law
The troubled Western Jane Got a Gun suffered another blow today with Jude Law leaving the project, just hours after Gavin O'Connor replaced Lynne Ramsay at the helm.

The actor reportedly left the project because he specifically signed on to work with Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin), who pulled a no-show on the first day of production after having heated arguments with producer Scott Steindorff the week prior. Ironically, Jude Law himself was a last-minute replacement. Michael Fassbender had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with X-Men: Days of Future Past. Joel Edgerton, who was already cast in a different role, took Michael Fassbender's role, with Jude Law taking Joel Edgerton's place.

Natalie Portman stars in the Western, written by Brian Duffield, as a wife who finds her husband coming home riddled with bullet wounds, clinging on to dear life. She enlists the...

Gavin O'Connor
Lynne Ramsay Replaced by Warrior Director Gavin O'Connor on Jane Got a Gun
Gavin O'Connor
Gavin O'Connor has officially replaced Lynne Ramsay as director on the troubled Western Jane Got a Gun.

Ramsay was a no show on the first day of production scheduled for earlier this week. Her abrupt departure left the shoot in a frantic search for a new director. She apparently fled without notice after a week of clashing with producer Scott Steindorff. It is not known what the fight was over.

When it was clear that Lynne Ramsay was not returning to work, producers Steindorff, Aleen Keshishian, Terry Dougas and Natalie Portman, who also stars in the film, hurried to find a replacement, which led them to Warrior and Tumbleweeds director Gavin O'Connor, who most recently directed The Americans: Pilot for FX.

This is the second averted disaster for the project in as many months. In late February, Michael Fassbender bailed at the last minute, but was quickly replaced by Joel Edgerton.

Director Lynne Ramsay Abandons Jane Got a Gun on First Day of Shooting
Natalie Portman at an event for The Oscars (2020)
In what has to be a Hollywood first, director Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin) surprisingly dropped out of the Western Jane Got a Gun by simply not showing up for work on the first day of production yesterday. The film's producers, including star Natalie Portman and Scott Steindorff are currently scrambling to find a replacement. Here's what Scott Steindorff had to say in a statement.

"I have millions of dollars invested, we're ready to shoot, we have a great script, crew and cast. I'm shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up. It is insane somebody would do this to other people. I feel more for the crew and their families, but we are keeping the show going on, directors are flying in, and a replacement is imminent.
