Hugh Sheridan was born in Adelaide, South Australia and was the second youngest of seven children. It was during primary school that they began their training at Unley Youth Theatre and Terry Simpson Studios in Adelaide, after which they went on to study Music at the Victorian College of the Arts and Dance at The Australian Ballet School.

In their final year of acting studies at the National Institute for Dramatic Art in 2007, Hugh was cast as 'Ben Rafter' in Australia's highest rating family drama Packed to the Rafters and continued in the role for 5 seasons. Throughout that time, they received three Silver Logie Awards for Most Popular Actor, a 2013 Silver Logie Award nomination for Most Popular Actor, a 2011 Silver Logie nomination for Most Outstanding Actor, a Silver Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent and a Graham Kennedy Award nomination for Most Outstanding New Talent.

Following Rafters Hugh starred in the Seven Network telemovie Never Tear Us Apart, based on Australia's most successful band, INXS, the Opera Australia / ABC musical co-production The Divorce, the Channel 9 series House Husbands and the Network Ten hit series Five Bedrooms.

Hugh's feature film credits include The Callback, with Eddie Izzard and directed by Marion Pilowsky, the action film Escape & Evasion alongside Rena Owen and Josh McConville and Isn't It Romantic alongside Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth and Adam Devine.

Theatrically Hugh's credits include, the sold out, one person show, Newley Discovered, at the 2009 Adelaide Cabaret Festival. They then took Newley to the Sydney Opera House and New York's Snapple. Hugh starred alongside Geoffrey Rush and Magda Szubanski in the Gordon Frost production, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum of which they received a Green Room Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role as well as a national tour of Hair. He was recently given a residence at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Grill Jazz in LA and is currently enjoying much success with their band California Crooners Club on the festival circuit and looking forward to releasing their debut album in the coming year.

After signing with Sony in 2010 Hugh released their first single Just Can't Throw Us Away which made an impressive #2 debut on the iTunes singles chart and was followed by their successful debut album Speak Love. He is currently working on his second album.

Hugh is an avid Humanitarian involved with multiple child and animal protection charities and was commended for their US fund-raising efforts towards the 2020 bushfires. Hugh recently set up their own Human Renaissance Project here in Australia, giving platforms for people to share their stories and give voice to the unseen. HRP works alongside other charities to support them promoting empathy towards others and more understanding around the negative effects of labelling people for; ethnicity, sexuality, gender, employment status, religion etc and encourages people to tell their own story and reminds us we can't tell it for them.

Hugh came out as bisexual in October 2020. In June 2021 they came out as non-binary. Hugh is engaged to Kurt Roberts.

    • Quotes
There was no rushing. We just went out for dinners and took things very slowly and I did everything by the book because I knew, deep down, that this guy was a keeper.
