‘City On A Hill’ Casts Leon; Jackie Seiden Joins ‘Call Your Mother’
Image
Exclusive: Leon (The Temptations) is set for a recurring role opposite Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge on Season 2 of Showtime’s City On A Hill, currently in production. Created, written and executive produced by Chuck MacLean (Boston Strangler) and based on an original idea by Ben Affleck, City on a Hill is set in early 1990s Boston when the city was rife with violent criminals emboldened by local law enforcement agencies in which corruption and racism was the norm, until it suddenly all changed. The drama is a fictional account of what was called the “Boston Miracle.” Leon plays Reverend Isaiah Hughes, a spiritual adviser and activist with deep roots in his community. MacLean and Tom Fontana, who also serves as showrunner, executive produce with Jennifer Todd, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Michael Cuesta, Barry Levinson, Jorge Zamacona and consulting producer James Mangold. Bacon serves as co-executive producer. The role reunites Leon with Tom Fontana,...

'So Late So Soon': Film Review
Jackie Seiden
Living the art life means being constantly open to the muse. Amenable to the possibility that you might one day be inspired — as Chicago artist Jackie Seiden is in the opening scene of the bittersweet, True/False-premiering documentary So Late So Soon — to use dental floss to string up a cow figurine in the kitchen of your own home.

That house, where Jackie has lived for decades with fellow creative Don Seiden (her husband of half a century), is a quirky, colorful locale out of a Wes Anderson fantasia. The walls are painted bright whites, blues and pinks. Suitcases, dolls,...

First Trailer for 'Ode to Joy' with Martin Freeman & Morena Baccarin
"She's everything I've ever avoided... I'm drawn to her like a moth!" IFC Films has debuted the first trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Ode to Joy, the latest feature made by producer / filmmaker Jason Winer. Based on a true story originally featured on the radio show "This American Life", Ode to Joy is a hilarious and touching look at what happens when we stop being afraid and let ourselves truly live. Martin Freeman stars as Charlie, a man who has a rare condition called cataplexy, which causes him to lose control of his muscles and freeze up whenever he is overcome by strong emotion, particularly joy. How does someone like that find love and feel joy? That's what this film is all about. Morena Baccarin stars as his love interest, and the cast includes Melissa Rauch, Jake Lacy, Shannon Woodward, Jane Curtin, Ellis Rubin, Jackie Seiden, & Adam Shapiro.

SNL Vet Vanessa Bayer Joins ABC's Single Parents as Taran Killam's Ex
ABC’s Single Parents has picked a familiar and fitting face to play ex-wife to Taran Killam’s hapless Will.

TVLine has learned exclusively that fellow Saturday Night Live alum Vanessa Bayer will fill the recurring guest star role of Mia, Will’s ex. First appearing in a January episode of the freshman comedy, Mia is described as a “scarf-wearing, bracelets-jangling human rights lawyer who has spent the last five years saving lives abroad.” As such she regards Will’s life to be a breeze and undermines his parenting at every turn.

Additionally, TVLine can report that Jama Williamson (The Good Place,...
