Stars: Jonathan Thomson, Dan Liebman, Evalena Marie, Michael Reed, Nick Apostolides, Bobby Kenney, Sarah Nicklin | Written by Evalena Marie, Kevin James Barry | Directed by Kevin James Barry

Two bank robbers take their unwanted hostage into a seedy coastal motel in the dead of winter. When their boss doesn’t show up and their tickets to freedom go missing, the three of them must battle through their deteriorating mental state and find a way out before they turn on each other.

Among Them kicks off with a heist that has gone wrong… Ahhh those naughty heists, they rarely do what they are supposed to! Paranoia and cabin fever set in on our little band of merry men and things slowly unravel. As the opening credits roll, we can hear the soundtrack of the heist, and it is effective. you see. this is what clever film makers do when they do not have the budget.

Painless Trailer: Jordan Horowitz Considers Pain vs. Suffering in New Thriller
Painless is a new thriller from the mind of Jordan Horowitz (Angel of Nanjing). The film follows a man named Henry Long who has a rare condition - congenital analgesia - and cannot feel pain, but can still feel strong emotion. So, what is the difference between pain and suffering? In the film, Henry (played by Joey Klein from 12 Monkeys) searches for a cure to his condition with the mysterious Shani (played by Evalena Marie from True Blood) as time is running out. Trapped in his deadened body, Henry struggles to relate to others, while desperately struggling to find a drug or a surgery that can relieve his suffering. And when Shani enters his life, he is finally motivated to find his own breakthrough,...

Indican Pictures to Release the Dramatic Thriller Painless on Digital Platforms this October 2nd!
Tagline: "If You Can't Feel Pain, How Do You Know You Are Alive?" Painless is a dramatic thriller, based on the real life struggles of Henry Long. In the film, Long is played by Joey Klein ("12 Monkeys"). Long cannot feel physical pain, causing distress. When Joey meets Shani, he is motivated to find his own cure, in the face of corrupt doctors. Painless recently started a theatrical run, in Los Angeles, at the Laemmle Music Hall. This theatrical showing brought the film's director, Jordan Horowitz (Angel of Nanjing) to the premiere and a couple of subsequent showings. Now, Painless is set to show on home entertainment platforms in early October, through Indican Pictures. The trailer begins with the character Henry. He explains the nature and purpose of pain, in a subway train. He has a run-in with another passenger, which reveals more details on his personal struggles. Part rogue scientist,...

Joey Klein Can't Feel Pain in Trailer for Medical Thriller Film 'Painless'
"For someone who doesn't feel pain, you sure know an awful lot about it." Indican Pictures has released an official trailer for a medical thriller titled Painless, the latest film written & directed by filmmaker Jordan Horowitz (not the same Jordan as the producer of La La Land). The film is about a scientist born with a rare condition that makes him unable to feel physical pain, and he becomes increasingly obsessed with finding a cure. This isn't the only film about someone with this condition - a Russian film named Jumpman follows a boy with the same rare disease. Joey Klein (from TV's "12 Monkeys" and "This Life") stars in this, along with Evalena Marie, Kip Gilman, Pascal Yen-Pfister, Tommie Sox, and Nick Latrenta. Yes it does look a bit cliche and campy, but still seems like an intriguing film about obsession and the human condition. Here's the first official...

Lookin’ at the cover art for Dark Haul, my heart filled with the same sort of dread that one may have if they were informed that their great grandfather was actually Adolf Hitler. I mean, an overly ‘shopped image of what appears to be a Red Arremer from Ghosts N’ Goblins hitchin’ a ride on the Pork Chop Express as it blasts forth from some orange and brown apocalypse? Usually an image like this appears on releases from SyFy…...

‘Dark Feed’ Review
Stars: Evalena Marie, Michael Reed, Dayna Cousins, Victoria Nugent, Jason Beaubien, Rebecca Whitehurst, Michael Scott Allen, Jonathan Thomson, Andrew Rudick, Jonathan Popp | Written and Directed by Michael Rasmussen, Shawn Rasmussen

I think I may have been only one of a handful of people in the film-blogging community who expressed deep love for John Carpenter’s psych ward set horror flick The Ward. Well now the brotherly writing duo behind that film – Michael and Shawn Rasmussen – are back with another slice of hospital horror with Dark Feed.

This time round the brothers Rasmussen take on the writing, editing, scripting And directing duties, for this tale that sees a film crew move into an abandoned psychiatric hospital to shoot a low budget horror film. As the late nights and lack of sleep begin to take a toll, and the longer this crew works, the more the leaky, wet building seems to be coming back to life,...

Exclusive Clip Exhumed for Your Perusal
It's Friday, and do you know what that means? Yep! It's exclusive time! On tap is a clip from Exhumed, a uniquely original vision of horror written by Guy Benoit (Atomic Brain Invasion), produced by Ted Marr (The Disco Exorcist), and directed by Richard Griffin (Nun of That).

Director Richard Griffin (Nun of That, The Disco Exorcist) believes, "Exhumed marks a real change of pace, not only for us, but for modern horror in general. There are no tricks, no gimmicks, no CGI fakery, but a return to classic storytelling. I am quite proud of the level of performances in this movie, which are only matched by the sheer originality and power of the screenplay by Guy Benoit. I think audiences will be quite disturbed by the events that take place in the film."

Producer Ted Marr says, "[We are] really excited to be trying something new with Exhumed. It's almost like a period piece,...

Teaser For Fan-Made Punisher Movie Inspired By Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto's Critically Acclaimed Run
McFarland & Pecci present the teaser trailer for The Dead Can’t Be Distracted. This visually stunning fan film is a brand new take on the Punisher inspired by the recent series by Greg Rucka. The film stars newcomer Nick Apostolides as a younger, more rugged, Castle who shares screen time with Evalena Marie (Steve Niles Remains) as Sargent Cole-Alves. Looks pretty damned good, eh? Filmmakers Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci are aiming to release "The Dead Can't Be Distracted" later this summer. It will take inspiration from Greg Rucka's superb run - pencilled by Marco Checchetto for the most part - which was sadly cut short for Frank Castle to be made a part of the critically panned "Marvel Now!" Thunderbolts series. More promotional images can be found over at Comic Book Resources.

Dark Feed is Indigestible: A Movie Review
Directors/writers: Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen. Cast: Evalena Marie, Dayna Cousins, Victoria Nugent, Michael Reed, and Rebecca Whitehurst. The Rasmussen brothers are probably best known for the work with John Carpenter on The Ward. This earlier title was a horror film with a strong psychological element. Carpenter does not direct the Rasmussen's Dark Feed. Instead, these two have taken on the filmmaking responsibilities, themselves. Unfortunately, they should have rehired Carpenter as Dark Feed stumbles through a weak premise, poor pacing, average acting and dimly lit settings. The end result is a 28Dla Worst Indie Film of 2013 nomination. The Rasmussen brothers first feature as directors sticks with the psychiatric hospital from their earlier work. Here, several characters are trying to put together an indie film. It is a film within a film, get it? The production does not go smoothly as murderous spirits move about the setting. A black ooze begins to pour out of.

DVD Review: Remains
Remains

Stars: Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes, Grant Bowler, Tawny Cypress, Anthony Marks, Evalena Marie, Bobby Rice | Written by John Doolan | Directed by Colin Theys

Ok, so colour me surprised. I’ll admit I had no real idea what Remains was when I was sent it to review, to me it looked like it could be an interesting zombie movie. Little did I know it was based on the comic of the same name by Steve Niles, the genius behind 30 Days of Night. Turning his hand from vampire lore to zombie tale, with the comic Niles once again manages to create a refreshing new take on a oft-told and familiar story; and the same applies to this movie which was made by, and originally aired on, the Chiller cable network in the Us.

Based on the highly acclaimed Idw graphic novel written by the aforementioned Steve Niles, the film tells the story of a post-apocalyptic Reno,...

Review: "Steve Niles' Remains" Is Your Typical Zombie Apocalypse ... With One Twist
What is it about the zombie genre that's made it such a durable horror favorite? Why are the undead so much more accessible than Freddie or Jason or any of the other iconic villains?

Obviously it's because, unless we're nubile virgins, we don't stand a chance of escaping those monsters with our jugulars intact. But zombies are a different story. Deep down, we all believe that we can survive the Zombie Apocalypse, no matter how slutty we are, as long as we can run ... and wield a sawed-off shotgun.

The Chiller Network's entry in the zombie genre premieres tonight, with the adaptation of the graphic novel Remains, by Steve Niles (who's best known for 30 Days Of Night).

So what does Remains have that sets it apart? It's certainly not production values (it's on par with a Syfy Original Movie), or story (four survivors in a Reno casino try to keep...

Interview: Steve Niles Talks Remains Feature Film
Some zombie tales - very much like the undead shambling about at their core - find a way of being resurrected.  Take the zombie boom of the mid-'00s.  Dawn of the Dead was revitalized for a modern movie-going audience.  Elsewhere, George Romero's zombies "lived on" in Land of the Dead, and in some respects, fueled a comic book that was just getting its start at the time called "The Walking Dead."

It was around this period that a comic called Remains was introduced.

Written by Steve Niles and featuring illustrations caked with meat, gristle and irradiated pus by Kieron Dwyer, Remains gave readers a glimpse as a world unified by peace until, one day, someone presses the wrong button and the human race is practically annihilated.  Focus shifts to Reno, Nevada where a casino blackjack dealer named Tom and a waitress named Tori attempt to get along with...

A Trio of New Stills from Exhumed; November 11th Premiere Reminder
One film we're looking forward to checking out is Richard Griffin's Exhumed, which has a real retro vibe thanks to its black & white palette, and if you happen to live in or near Foxboro, Massachusetts, you can beat us to the punch when the flick premieres on November 11th. In honor of the occasion the filmmakers have sent us a trio of new stills to share.

From the Press Release:

Scorpio Film Releasing, comprised of New England's premier genre filmmakers, is proud and excited to announce the world premiere of its newest, darkest, most beautifully unsettling feature to date: Exhumed.

Different from the acclaimed genre fare Scorpio Film Releasing is known for, Exhumed is a terrifying fairy tale centered in the repulsive recesses of humanity. Loneliness, solitude, fear, and longing lead an unlikely group of housemates to the darkest edges of life and death.

Indie Watch: Trailer, Poster for Exhumed
Heralded by adjectives like "unique," "original," and other words to describe how different this film is from modern horror fare, comes Exhumed . This is a decidedly different approach to the genre for director Richard Griffin who brought us Nun of That and The Disco Exorcist and it stars Debbie Rochon, Sarah Nicklin, Michael Reed, Michael Thurber, Rich Tretheway, Evalena Marie and Jonathan Thomson. I'm not ready to start waxing poetic about how "different" this looks because, honestly, it doesn't. Stylistically, it may be a departure for the guy who directed Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon . But every director has to mature, right? A trailer and a poster are here and we're sharing them with you below. Here's how it's being described...

New Trailer, Poster, and Stills from Richard Griffin's Exhumed
It's been a while since we've gotten an update on Exhumed, a uniquely original vision of horror written by Guy Benoit (Atomic Brain Invasion), produced by Ted Marr (The Disco Exorcist), and directed by Richard Griffin (Nun of That); but that's all about to change. Today we have for you the film's new poster and trailer along with a couple of stills.

From the Press Release:

Different from the acclaimed genre fare Scorpio Film Releasing is known for, Exhumed is a terrifying fairy tale centered in the repulsive recesses of humanity. Loneliness, solitude, fear, and longing lead an unlikely group of housemates to the darkest edges of life and death.

Director Richard Griffin (Nun of That, The Disco Exorcist) believes "Exhumed marks a real change of pace, not only for us, but for modern horror in general. There are no tricks, no gimmicks, no CGI fakery, but a return to classic storytelling.

Badass Artwork for Director Colin Theys’ Zombie Flick Remains
I don’t know much about director Colin Theys’ upcoming undead outing “Remains”, but I do know this: The new artwork is pretty badass. Sure, it’s got that comic book vibe that everyone seems to be going for these days, but I’m a sucker for those things, and this one is really well done. The film is currently in post-production, though the poster suggests that flick will see the light of day later this year. Assuming, of course, that everything goes according to plan. Need a synopsis? I happen to have one right here: The story centers on two lone survivors of a bizarre accident that reduced most of the world’s population to zombies. They take refuge in a vacant casino and fight a losing battle against the undead. Simple enough, right? “Remains” stars Miko Hughes, Evalena Marie, Grant Bowler, Lance Reddick, Tawny Cypress, Terry Shappert, Frank Taveres,...

Comic-Con 2011: Poster for Steve Niles' Remains
If you're at Comic-Con next week, you'll likely see a presence for Remains , the zombie flick based on Steve Niles' graphic novel. Chiller airs the movie this fall and artist Kieron Dwyer - who illustrated the comic - whipped up this promo poster, which I presume will be available in San Diego. Colin Theys directed Remains and Grant Bowler, Evalena Marie, Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes, Tawny Cyrpress, Terry Shappert, Frank Taveres and Bobby Rice star. The story follows a blackjack dealer and a dancer in Reno, Nevada as they find themselves trapped in a casino when a nuclear accident zombifies everyone on earth. Don't forget, you can find all San Diego Comic-Con footage Via This Link .

Photo: How to Avoid Zombies in Remains
Writer Steve Niles posted the following image to his Facebook page today: A behind-the-scenes look at Remains , now shooting in Connecticut for the Chiller network. What are you looking at? That's actor Grant Bowler, as Tom, inside a giant metal ball. If you're familiar with the graphic novel the film is based on, well, you'll know Tom uses this ball to avoid getting munched on by the hordes of zombies roaming Reno, Nevada's streets. This is cool because I thought this is one scene that would have been nixed based on budgetary constraints. Nice to see they're going for it. Colin Theys is directing. Evalena Marie, Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes, Tawny Cyrpress, Terry Shappert, Frank Taveres and Bobby Rice co-star.

Excl: Up Close and Personal Pics of a Remains Zombie
Shock scored a cool, detailed look at one of the many shambling corpses you'll see in Remains . What you see below are some behind-the-scenes shots taken on the Connecticut set. Filming is underway for Chiller under the direction of Colin Theys. The project, geared for television, is based on the graphic novel by Steve Niles and Kieron Dwyer. And don't worry, the zombies here prefer human flesh over gummi bears. Grant Bowler, Evalena Marie, Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes, Tawny Cyrpress, Terry Shappert, Frank Taveres and Bobby Rice star.

Three New Stills from Scorpio Film Releasing's Exhumed
Earlier this year we told you about Exhumed, a uniquely original vision of horror written by Guy Benoit (Atomic Brain Invasion), produced by Ted Marr (The Disco Exorcist), and directed by Richard Griffin (Nun of That). This week Scorpio Film Releasing dropped us a line to let us know the film has wrapped production and provided us with three new stills.

Exhumed marks Sfr's 10th feature, their others including Nun of That, Atomic Brain Invasion, Disco Exorcist, Beyond the Dunwich Horror, and more. Producer Marr says that "even though we are early in the process, from looking at the raw footage, I strongly suspect that this will be our best work to date. Certainly the best technically."

Director Griffin further explains that "Exhumed is a major change of pace for us. Guy Benoit's amazing screenplay is not filled with the typical "Things That Go Bump In The Night" creatures like vampires,...

Chilling still from Exhumed
Scorpio Film Releasing has sent out a press release and a new still for their upcoming acquisition called Exhumed, which is in the vein of recent indies that are honoring past classics. Much like how House of the Wolf Man homaged the classic cannon of Universal Horror Films from the 1940s, Exhumed is doing the same but to the thrillers from the ’60s like Psycho or Peeping Tom. The film was successfully completed thanks to Kickstarter.

Scorpio Film Releasing’s newest film, Exhumed wraps production.

Providence, Ri – Scorpio Film Releasing has wrapped production on Exhumed, the darkly twisted tale of a socially maligned family who are seemingly unable to leave their own home. This film marks Scorpio Film Releasing’s 10th feature, their others including Nun of That, Atomic Brain Invasion, Disco Exorcist, Beyond the Dunwich Horror and more.

Producer Ted Marr explains that “even though we are early in the process,...

First news, exclusive pics from slasher The ID Proxy
Indie filmmaker Matthew C. Dumond gave Fango some details and exclusive scene shots (see ’em below) from his writing/directing debut The ID Proxy. “It’s a combo of an intense thriller with some slasher scares,” Dumond tells us.

Rick Dumont (“Though our names are very similar, he is of no relation to me,” the filmmaker notes) stars as Will, a borderline psychotic who goes over the edge and embarks on a delusion-fueled murder spree. The principal victims are a group of campers who have the bad luck to wind up in his path. “They’re killed off one by one in various horrifying ways as Will delves further into the evils hidden deep within his subconscious,” Dumond says. “The film illustrates the terrifying path of a truly deranged mind gone astray, focusing on a man who has lost all perception of reality and the division between right or wrong,...
