"Romanticizing The Grotesque" - Gtfo Rundown 8.0 Hands-On Preview
Image
Gtfo's final Rundown release, Duality, connects all the previous pieces of the game's story for one final battle. Players must utilize teamwork, stealth, and the right tools to survive and complete objectives in the new update. The future of Gtfo looks bright, with a potential console port in the works and Duality providing a satisfying send-off for the shooter.

Hardcore horror shooter Gtfo has launched its final Rundown this week, premiering the new update at The Game Awards. The title is the debut release from Swedish developer 10 Chambers, which was founded by Ulf Andersson, the designer behind the first two entries in the Payday franchise. Now on its eighth and final dose of content, the title has come a long way since it first began in early access in 2019, and Screen Rant attended a special hands-on preview event to get a taste of the latest horrors the game has to offer.

Den Of Wolves Interview: Shady Sci-Fi Corporations & Learning From Gtfo
Image
Den of Wolves is an upcoming sci-fi heist game from 10 Chambers, the co-founders of the Payday franchise. The game is set in the year 2097 on the remote island of Midway City, featuring larger-scale heists with a sci-fi twist and a thought-provoking narrative inspired by real-world events and media like Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner. The game's co-op aspect is key, requiring players to strategize and gather intel and tools before embarking on bigger jobs, and it aims to surprise heist fans with mind-bending sci-fi concepts and unique gameplay experiences.

The 2023 Game Awards ceremony was full of exciting announcements, including the reveal of Den of Wolves, an upcoming sci-fi heist game from 10 Chambers. The Swedish developer was co-founded by Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund - two of the minds behind the first two entries in the Payday franchise - and is best known for their punishingly hard horror shooter Gtfo.

Den of Wolves Dev Teases Lost Gtfo Features, More Lore [Exclusive]
Image
Den of Wolves will have features that didn't make it into Gtfo, including a lore library for easier storytelling. Gtfo's lore was difficult to keep track of, but Den of Wolves aims to present it in a more digestible way. With more creative freedom, Den of Wolves can implement ideas from Gtfo that would work well in its context.

A recent developer interview revealed that the upcoming heist game Den of Wolves will be able to implement features that didn't make it into the studio's previous title Gtfo. Announced this week at The Game Awards, Den of Wolves comes from Swedish developer 10 Chambers, which was co-founded by Simon Viklund and Ulf Andersson, two veterans of the Payday franchise. With the punishing horror shooter's content coming to an end, 10 Chambers has shifted focus to Den of Wolves, but unimplemented ideas from their previous release won't all be left behind.

Screen Rant recently interviewed Simon Viklund,...

[Tga 2023] Final Rundown Expansion “Duality” for Horror Co-op Shooter ‘Gtfo’ Available Now [Trailer]
Ally Sheedy, Ruby Dee, and Kate Siegel in Steam (2007)
All good things must come to an end. And for 10 Chambers, that end is the final chapter for their horror co-op shooter Gtfo. “Rundown 8.0: Duality” is available now as a free content update, raising the number of missions to 80.

The Duality expansion is the nerve-wracking conclusion to the game’s story arc, which tasks a four-player team of prisoners to escape a hellish underground complex known as Garganta. Gtfo has continually evolved since the game’s launch in 2019, with Rundown 8.0: Duality being its twelfth free major content update, adding new missions (expeditions) to the game for more than 80 total. The content-packed Gtfo: Final Edition treats hardcore cooperative players with hundreds of hours of paranoia, tension, and fear to last for years to come.

“The Gtfo story began at The Game Awards when the game was revealed back in 2017, so of course, we felt that it was right to...

‘Gtfo’ Expects Fine-Tuned ‘Destiny’ Raid Strategizing From Players
“Gtfo,” like the great four-player co-op shooters that came before it, is a game about failure. You and three friends take the guise of desperate prisoners in an unforgiving, dystopian world, and are sent down into the gloomy depths below the earth’s crust to retrieve a series of artifacts for an unnamed client known only as The Warden. As you might expect, those depths are rife with horrifically twisted “Amnesia”-esque ghoulies, who want nothing more than to wipe your party over, and over, and over again.

Get in, grab a macguffin, get out. It’s the basic formula that made “Left 4 Dead” and it’s sequel great, and it’s the same synopsis that 10 Chambers Collective lead designer Ulf Andersson employed on his previous two projects – the cultishly adored bank robbery sims “Payday” and “Payday 2.” “Maybe I just suck at deathmatches,” he laughs, when I ask him why...

First Gameplay Footage of Mutant Year Zero Released
If you were intrigued by the announcement of the new story-based stealth/tactical game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, today brings our first look at gameplay via a 30 minute developer playthrough! Come inside to check it out.

Last month, Funcom announcedMutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, a new tactical game set to launch on PS4 and Xbox One sometime this year. Today, we're getting our first (lengthy) look at the gameplay in action and how the combination of real-time stealth and tunr-based tactics actually works:

Funcom announced ‘Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden’ just a few weeks ago with a Cinematic Reveal Trailer that quickly made some significant ripples in the duck pond of the Internet. A lot of the credit for that goes to Dux, a duct-taped, crossbow-wielding, anthropomorphic duck who saw a sudden rise to fame in the weeks that followed. Apparently, anyone can become popular on...

Mutant Year Zero Combines Real-Time Stealth and Turn-Based Tactics Together
Funcom has annoucned a new post-apocalyptic tactics game this morning, that wants to combine the thrill of Xcom with real-time stealth gameplay and an engaging story. Come inside for the first details on the newly revealed, Mutant Year Zero.

I don't think there will ever be a time when I'm not a sucker for turn-based tactical games. Throw stealth gameplay into the mix and my attention is fully, and completely, captured. Such is the case with Mutant Year Zero, which was announced today with a swanky story trailer and some details on the gameplay:

Of course the world ends, it was just a question of time. Extreme climate change, global economic crisis, a lethal pandemic, and increasing tension between old and new superpowers. For the first time since 1945 nuclear weapons were used in armed conflict. Mushroom clouds rose from east to west before the dust settled. The humans are gone.

Overkill the developers for Payday: The Heist have revealed they will be working on a collaboration with Valve that will involve the Left 4 Dead franchise.

Overkill Game director Ulf Andersson made this statement:

“As perceptive gamers will have noticed, several hints have recently been dropped into Payday The Heist, which has led to various rumors. We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between Overkill and Valve is currently in production.

We are working on a very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done.”

As of right now there is no further information on the game or what it might even be, but I will take a stab in the dark and say the game will be a Left 4 Dead game that will use characters from Payday: The Heist.

By Jeffrey Matulef

Payday: The Heist developer Overkill Software has recently announced they'll be teaming up with Valve on some sort of Left 4 Dead/Payday crossover. This news follows Overkill's recent acqusition by Starbreeze Studios, developers of The Darkness, The Chronicles of Riddick, and most recently, Syndicate.

“We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between Overkill and Valve is currently in production," said Overkill Game Director , Ulf Andersson, at the studio's official site.

"We are working on a very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done," he continued.

Does this mean we'll finally have a game about zombie bank robbers? Or better yet, zombie bank tellers?!
