I was trying not to shake,” said Hart, who heralded her return to Aew TV with a trilogy of introspective vignettes featuring warring versions of Hart’s past and present personas.

“The first time I got hurt, back in January while I was still champion, I...

“Funny thing is I said that”: The Rock Now Faces Accusation of Stealing ‘The Final Boss’ from a Female Wrestler After Copyrighting Iron Sheikh’s Jabroni
Image
Since the February 2nd episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock has indeed made a highly anticipated return to WWE programming, hinting at regular appearances leading up to WrestleMania 40. His involvement in an ongoing feud with Cody Rhodes made it clear that The Great One would play a substantial role in WWE. However, it seems that amidst The Rock’s resurgence in the wrestling world, there are allegations from a professional wrestler accusing him of stealing the ‘Final Boss’ moniker.

The Rock

Fans are eagerly anticipating a potential showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but there’s also a collective desire to ensure that Cody Rhodes’ storyline isn’t overshadowed. Initially, there were concerns about this imbalance, but a more balanced approach has been adopted. Therefore, Cody Rhodes will still get to face Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40, but he still has to contend with The Rock before that.

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (Oct 27th 2022)
Image
Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark and like I said in my Elevation review, I missed last week’s two Aew YouTube shows due to the sheer amount of wrestling that was on TV/PPV! So I’m back at it this week, with a show taped in front of a live Toronto crowd… On with the review!

Match #1: Lance Archer def. Iseah Brown

My Thoughts: Lance Archer just feels like a broken record these days. Drag your opponent to the ring. Check. Throw him around. Check. Get the pin. Check. But hey, at least he’s wrestling matches.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Zack Clayton def. Shane Saber

My Thoughts: I was firmly in the same camp at the live Canadian audience in wanting local wrestler Shane Saber to get the win over the former reality star Zack Clayton. Alas it was not to be as...

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 86’ Review
Image
Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, and yes, given how much wrestling we had to cover last week I missed last week’s show! This week features seven matches and a number of big-name stars! We’ve got Ian Riccaboni, Matt Menard and Jose the Assistant on commentary, so let’s get into the review…

Match #1: 10 def. Baron Black

My Thoughts: Baron Black jumped 10 before the bell and 10 totally no-sold it, along with everything else Black tried to throw at him. I do wonder what the plan is for 10… He is being head-hunted by Jose the Assistant on behalf of the Lfi, yet when he gets a decent singles match Aew throw Orange Cassidy into the mix?! Then he goes and has squash matches like this. What is the plan? What It It?!

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Eddie Kingston and Ortiz def. Russ Myers...

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (Oct 11th 2022)
Image
Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which is another stacked 10-match card And a live audience thanks to being taped in DC… On with the review!

Match #1: Lance Archer def. Alec Odin

My Thoughts: Two matches in a row for Archer, this was even more of a squash than his Elevation match this week! Odin did get a move or two in but this was very much Archer’s match.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Penelope Ford, Serena Deeb and Jamie Hayter def. Jordan Blade, Trish Adora and Brittany Blake

My Thoughts: I was totally surprised to see that this match Wasn’T a squash – as it certainly looked like it would be on paper. Thankfully this instead was a well-fought, competitive match – one that really showcased the trio of heels to perfection.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #3: Hikaru Shida def. Marina Shafir

My Thoughts: Well colour me shocked!

For Storm, it’s a huge night with a big stage to solidify herself at the top of the mountain. “I’m going to go into this confidently,” the Kiwi told TV Insider. “I’ll be walking out still champ ready for the next.

‘Aew: Dynamite’ Review (Sep 14th 2022)
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew: Dynamite, which follows an “interesting” post All-Out time for Aew, an event that has had massive repercussions for the company – hence the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions… So with that said, let’s get to the review!

Match #1: Grand Slam Tournament of Champions Semi-Finals Match – Jon Moxley def. Sammy Guevara The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

Lord William Regal joined the broadcast booth for this match. Mox went to grab Sammy and Sammy immediately jumped out of the ring. Moxley grabbed a headlock and took Sammy down to the mat. Mox backed Sammy into the corner but Sammy escaped and began to beat down Mox with strikes and boots. Mox fired back with a King Kong Lariat, turning Sammy inside out. Mox and Sammy traded chops. Sammy went over the top rope to Mox on the arena floor with a...

‘Aew: Rampage’ Review (Sept 9th 2022)
Image
It’s Monday morning, so you know what that means, it’s time for this week’s review of Aew: Rampage! This episode emanated from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Now let’s get to the review!

Match #1: Grand Slam Tournament Rampage Wild Card Match – Sammy Guevara def. Darby Allin The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Darby used a side headlock takedown on Sammy. Sammy bridged up and put Sammy in an arm bar. He followed up with a Coffin Splash in the corner on Sammy. Sammy dodged the third Coffin Splash from Darby. Sammy propped Darby onto the top rope and they began to battle it out. Darby hammered at Sammy’s ribs but then Sammy superplexed Darby! Sammy went for the Three Amigos but on the third suplex, Darby pulled Sammy over the top rope and down onto the arena floor. Darby was about...

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (Sep 6th 2022)
Image
Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which emanates from Chicago like the rest of this past week’s shows. We got a tight 7-match card (thank god) so let’s get right to it!

Match #1: Josh Woods & Tony Nese def. Brandon Gore & Storm Grayson

My Thoughts: Again? Really? Well at least Nese and Woods are getting work. Work against jobbers but work nonetheless. Though we didn’t need two matches a week from those guys Imho, especially when both are squash matches.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Marina Shafir def. Laynie Luck

My Thoughts: This match felt like a step back from the work Shafir is doing in her tag matches with Nyla Rose (who was at ringside here), with a number of iffy-looking moves from Shafir that even Taz points out on commentary!

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #3: Zack Clayton def. Serpentico

My Thoughts: Totally...

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 79’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, the opening salvo in the Aew wrestling week. We’ve got a repeat of last week’s commentary team, Excalibur and Matt Menard, for this episode so let’s see what the show has to offer!

Match #1: Julia Hart def. Alice Crowley

My Thoughts: Another good outing for Julia Hart who, every week, gets better and better, smoother and smoother. She really feels like she’s embraced this new character and it’s made her look a lot better in the ring. I do hope House of Black continues given the rumours about Malakai Black at All Out this past weekend.

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Josh Woods and Tony Nese def. Jordan Kross and Renny D

My Thoughts: How much of a squash was this? I’ll tell you… Renny D didn’t even get an official tag into the match!

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 78’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, the opening salvo in the Aew wrestling week. We’ve got a repeat of last week’s commentary team, Excalibur and Matt Menard, for this episode so let’s see what the show has to offer!

Match #1: Dante Martin def. Wes Barkley

My Thoughts: After last week’s match I was expecting Dante Martin to thoroughly squash his opponent here but that wasn’t the case, Wes Barkley managed to hold his own for a short while, even getting a 1-count on Martin. Still, we were in quasi-squash territory with this one!

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Julia Hart def. Arie Alexander

My Thoughts: Another strong match for Julia Hart, who now feels like she’s really relishing in her heel persona. This one was another quasi-squash, with Arie Alexander getting just enough offence in for this to...

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 77’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, the opening salvo in the Aew wrestling week. We’ve got a repeat of last week’s commentary team, Excalibur and Matt Menard, for this episode so let’s see what the show has to offer!

Match #1: Anna Jay def. Nikki Victory

My Thoughts: Another short and sweet squash match for Anna Jay, who traded in the fin and happy mood of the Dark Order for a more serious and more importantly vicious attitude. And it works. Now she just needs to get more competitive matches under her belt.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Ruby Soho & Ortiz def. Queen Aminata & Mickey Midas

My Thoughts: Interesting… Undoubtedly because of Sammy and Tay’s championship, it seems Aew are getting into the mixed tag match scene – giving Ruby and Ortiz some practice before their match against the aforementioned Sammy and Tay at All Out.

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 76’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, the opening salvo in the Aew wrestling week. We’ve got a new duo on commentary this week, Excalibur and Matt Menard..?! Let’s see what the show has to offer.

Match #1: Josh Woods and Tony Nese def. Arik Cannon and Tristan Davis

My Thoughts: Dull quasi-squash and a waste of the talent involved.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Dark Order def. Tug Cooper, Drew System, Rylie Jackson and Adam Grace

My Thoughts: Fun multi-man squash. Dark ORder did their thing with aplomb as usual.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #3: Serena Deeb def. Sierra

My Thoughts: Sierra put in a decent showing last week and despite facing the queen of the enhancement talent squash, she also managed to showcase herself her too, breaking out of a number of Deeb’s moves. More from Sierra please Tony Khan!

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (Aug 9th 2022)
Image
Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which emanates from Grand Rapids, Michigan – which means this was taped at the same time as this past weekend’s Battle of the Belts special. We’ve got Taz and Excalibur on commentary as usual so let’s get to the action!

Match #1: Private Party, The Butcher & The Blade def. Isaiah Broner, James Alexander, Brayden Lee, & Sam Moore

My Thoughts: So we open Dark with an 8-man quasi-squash match. Hey, at least Private Party, The Butcher & The Blade are getting “TV” time right? Right..? It seems both teams are floundering somewhat after the end of the Hfo/Ahfo so to see them in action is good, even more so when the in-ring action is good too!

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Anna Jay A.S. def. Megan Meyers

My Thoughts: Anna Jay gets a new name and new attitude… Hopefully her...

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (July 19th 2022)
Image
Another episode of Aew: Dark, which this week features fourteen, yes Fourteen(!), matches. Though this show has also gone back to the traditional format after last week’s tremendous show which showcased two matches filmed internationally… I fear no Dark may ever live up to last weeks… Especially not one crammed with 14 matches like the old pandemic days!

Match #1: Jora Johl def. Luke Sampson

My Thoughts: Poor Jora Johl, it really looked like he was being set up to be a big star, with a future turn against Matt Hardy probably propelling him up the Aew card. Then Jeff hardy joined Aew and the Hfo disbanded and Johl has been seemingly forgotten. Though he has out in some decent time on Aew’s YouTube shows, it feels like he’s fallen into the Factory/Dark Order trap – win against jobbers on YouTube, Be the jobber of Dynamite/Rampage!

Aew’s Thunder Rosa on Mexican Pride, Uvalde, Women’s Wrestling & ‘Forbidden Door’
Image
It was an emotional scene when Thunder Rosa finally captured the All Elite Wrestling women’s championship. The fan-favorite defeated her arch-nemesis Britt Baker in dramatic fashion. A bloody steel cage main event during Dynamite’s “St. Patrick’s Day Slam” before Rosa’s San Antonio, Texas faithful. A year prior she’d come up short against Baker in their landmark “Lights Out” match. Since attaining the gold, Rosa has successfully defended against the likes of Nyla Rosa, Serena Deeb, and Marina Shafir. The forecast next calls for a big challenge at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view against the red-hot Toni Storm. A standout who left WWE in hopes of a greater opportunity to perform. Rosa talks to TV Insider about the experience atop the women’s division, giving back, tacos, and others walking through the “Forbidden Door.” How has it been being the champ? Thunder Rosa: It’s a very important thing for me.

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (June 21st 2022)
Image
Another episode of Aew: Dark, which this week is back being taped at Aew Universal. Let’s join Taz and Excalibur, commentators for Dark as usual, and see what this week’s Nine matches have in store… The match count keeps getting higher!

Match #1: Max Caster def. Trever Aeon

My Thoughts: Trever Aeon certainly has a striking look, however he didn’t have the striking ability to beat Max Caster who took the fight to Aeon in a typical Aew quasi-squash match!

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Serpentico def. Vary Morales

My Thoughts: Serpentico wrestling in another singles match without Luther? Joy! Here he takes on the ever-reliable Vary Morales, who’s always impressed in his Aew appearances. And that’s the case here too, as Morales goes toe-to-toe with Serpentico in a fantastic, fast-paced match between two evenly-matched competitors.

My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #3: Kris Statlander def.

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 68’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation which sees the show get back to a longer card, featuring seven matches this week. We’ve got Excalibur, Anthony Ogogo and Mark Henry on commentary and Serena Deeb and Mercedes Martinez re-teaming for more women’s tag action! Let’s get into the review…

Match #1: Serena Deeb and Mercedes Martinez def. Heather Reckless and Tootie Lynn

My Thoughts: Serena Deeb and Mercedes Martinez are re-teaming once again for more tempestuous women’s tag team wrestling. The duo work together on a knife-edge and it has brought an interesting air of tension to their matches so far – and this one’s no different. Like their last pairing, this was an example of an Aew quasi-squash match, with Deeb and Martinez giving Heather Reckless and Tootie Lynn a modicum of space to Try and get some offence in!

My Score:...

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 67’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation which sees the show get back to a longer card, featuring seven matches this week. We’ve got Excalibur and Mark Henry on commentary and the Dark Order in Another main event! Let’s get into the review…

Match #1: Nyla Rose def. Max the Impaler

My Thoughts: Well Max the Impaler certainly has an interesting look! Max was also a fantastic foil for Nyla, seemingly matching her beat for beat. This one could have done with more time and a not-so-quick ending. But hey ho, we’re back to quick matches packed in a short amount of time on Dark and Elevation it seems.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Private Party def. Camaro Jackson and Sk Bishop

My Thoughts: I’m not the biggest fan of Private Party but I do like it when they treat matches more seriously.

‘Aew Dark: Elevation – Episode 66’ Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation which has a short run time and a four-match card. I could honestly get used to these shorter shows! On commentary this week we have Paul Wight, Mark Henry And Tony Schiavone. Let’s get right into the action, which comes from the Kia Forum (aka The Forum) in Los Angeles, California.

Match #1: The Factory def. Dark Order

My Thoughts: This was a good, but not great, match. The kind of match you can watch without really paying attention to it and still know exactly what’s going on. Can’t believe Dark Order lost to The factory though, it looks like the faction are back to losing match after match, week after week. Do we need an injection of new blood into Dark Order? Probably.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Frankie Kazarian def. Serpentico

My Thoughts: Kazarian...

‘Aew: Dynamite’ Review (April 27th 2022)

Match #1: Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Qualifier Match – Dax Harwood def. Cash Wheeler The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

Cm Punk was the special guest commentator for this match. The match began with tremendous chain wrestling between Dax and Cash. They got to their feet, smiled, and shook hands as a sign of mutual respect. Dax superplexed Cash, but both men felt the impact. Dax went up for a diving headbutt but Cash dodged it. Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, we’ve got Tony Schiavone, Paul Wight and Mark Henry on commentary and an 8-match, still sub 50 minutes, card this week… Let’s get right into the review and the action!

Match #1: Leyla Hirsch def. Ella Envy

My Thoughts: Leyla Hirsch opens the show! Love to see it. Hirsch demolished her opponent in this one, in a clear squash match that legitimised (pun intended) Hirsch’s new nasty, hard-hitting, nature. It’s times like this that sqash matches Do work!

My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Brock Anderson & Lee Johnson def. The Factory (Qt Marshall & Aaron Solo)

My Thoughts: Cracking tag team action from Brock Anderson and Lee Johnson. The former is really coming along in terms of skill and presentation, leaning into his resemblance to his father in looks And movies now. Qt Marshall did his usual shtick,...
