Best-selling genre author Clive Barker has brought us the horrors of Rawhead Rex, Hellraiser, Nightbreed, Candyman, Lord of Illusions, The Midnight Meat Train, Dread, and Books of Blood, among other things – and his latest project is the animated comedy Night of the Zoopocalypse. The film was given a wide theatrical release earlier this month (you can read a 7/10 review from JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols at This Link), but it hasn’t exactly set the box office on fire, drawing in just $2 million. More viewers are likely to catch it when they can watch it in the comfort of their own homes – and they’ll have the chance to do that when the movie is given a Premium VOD release, courtesy of Viva Kids, on April 4th!
Night of the Zoopocalypse will be available to buy for $14.99 and rent for $6.99 from participating digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV,...

"Monsters have overrun the zoo..." Viva Pictures is releasing a fun animated comedy movie called Night of the Zoopocalypse in theaters this weekend (starting March 7th). This flick premiered at the 2024 Sitges Film Festival in Spain (where I also saw it) last year. It's "from the mind of Clive Barker" but it's actually a "horror" movie for kids - it's very tame and really all about how these animals save their zoo from monsters. It's good! Bring your kids and have an amusing time at the cinema. A wolf and mountain lion team up when a meteor unleashes a virus turning zoo animals into zombies. They join forces with other survivors to rescue the zoo and stop the deranged mutant leader from spreading the virus. It's a horror movie made for kids (rated PG!), about zoo animals who have to save the day and stop a zombie virus from taking over.

Barker provided the concept for Night of the Zoopocalypse, and the idea was then fleshed out into a screenplay by Steven Hoban and James Kee. Directed by Ricardo Curtis and Rodrigo Perez-Castro, the movie has the following synopsis: One night, a meteor crashes into Colepepper Zoo unleashing a virus that transforms the animals into strange and hilarious slobbering zombie mutants. Gracie, a young quirky wolf, teams up with a gruff and fearsome mountain lion to find a way back to her pack. As the zoo is overrun,...

Have you ever wanted to disguise or alter your webcam identity and totally creep out your friends at the same time? A new "face substitution" browser application designed by Audun Mathias Øygard makes it possible. Image: VenusBuzz.com The facial recognition code works in real time, mapping the dimensions of the user's face and superimposing one of many available “masks” (everything from Chuck Norris to the Mona Lisa) from a drop-down menu. The result is just as unnerving as it sounds. Image: Prosthetic Knowledge Øygard's work was inspired by the 2012 art installation “Faces” by Arturo Castro and Kyle McDonald, which is equally disturbing – as you can see in the image below (visit Castro's website for more nightmarish examples).
