The 2025 Tribeca Festival has set its selection of shorts across narrative, documentary, animated works and music videos.

Expanded eligibility to projects previously screened in New York or online for out-of-competition consideration led to record submissions and 93 short films this year, a high among major fests.

The music video lineup curated by Sharon Badal, spans the world premiere of Kid Cudi’s new short film Neverland, directed by Ti West and produced by Monkeypaw Productions; Rock the Bells from LL Cool J; Jack White’s That’s How I’m Feeling; and Madame President by Grace Bowers.

Tribeca, which runs June 4–15 in NYC, is also deepening its investment in shorts by introducing the inaugural Shorts Cinema screening room at its Spring Studios festival hub to allow more filmmakers and fans to discover the next generation of independent film, where shorts are often a first stop.

Much it is for comedy, brevity is a friend of horror. It's a genre where punchiness is key, and that's extremely difficult in movies that go over the 120 minute mark. With that in mind, I present you a new horror short called Tuck Me In - which is based on a two-sentence long scary story and clocks in at a tight 60 seconds long: This short was directed by Ignacio F. Rodó, and it recently won this year's international Filminute Award, but perhaps the most interesting thing about it is its inspiration. Let's keep this short since a lengthy article about a one-minute short seems like overkill.

The international one-minute film festival, Filminute, gave top honors to this superb short by Ignacio F. Rodó. “Tuck Me In” perfectly builds and leaves you with an uneasy feeling that is hard to shake. Be sure to check out the other winners at Filminute’s website. They are well worth the literal minute of your time.

I am a judge for Viewster’s Online Film Festival. It is so great to give money to filmmakers. $100,000.00!!!! This installment was “It’s Complicated” and it takes a global tour through relationships.

The thing I found most striking was the exposure to filmmakers from around the world. Sitting hear in America, I mostly see local work, and you become accustomed to the dominant strain of fast cut, tight story telling. In contrast, these shorts on Viewster had room to breathe, offering nuance, performance, and audience consideration in a way that American films rarely do. I can’t say I loved everyone, but I was glad to watch them. It felt like a guided tour through our creative community. Check them out for yourself and see if you agree with how we voted (which will be revealed on July 7).
