In 2004, 12 jurors — backed by a horde of blood-thirsty Americans, who had followed the case on television day and night — found Scott Peterson guilty of the murders of his wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner. Twenty years later, the convicted murderer is back before the court of public opinion with two new docuseries, with starkly opposing points of view, aimed at relitigating the case and swaying streaming audiences. But the projects have also arrived as new efforts are being made to overturn one of the most scrutinized convictions of the century.
On Aug. 14, Netflix dropped “American Murder: Laci Peterson,” which unpacks the true-crime story that electrified the nation in the early aughts when an eight-months-pregnant Laci went missing on Christmas Eve 2002. Over the next five months, Americans debated whether her husband, Scott, had anything to do with her disappearance, until the bodies of Laci and her baby (who had been...

Peacock’s true-crime docuseries Face to Face With Scott Peterson has premiered with a focus on alternate theories around who and what could have caused the shocking 2002 murder of Laci Peterson.
The three-parter directed by Shareen Anderson sees Scott Peterson deniying killing his pregnant wife and their unborn child, aiming to undercut the initial Modesto police investigation and the prosecution’s case during his original 2003 trial. In 2004, Scott was convicted of the murders of Laci, who was eight months pregnant, and their unborn child, Conner. His death sentence was overturned in 2020 and reduced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. In 2024, the Los Angeles Innocence Project took over Scott’s case, and the nonprofit began investigating his case around the 20th anniversary of his conviction.

On August 20th, Peacock will premiere a new three-part documentary series called “Face to Face with Scott Peterson.” The series allows Peterson, who has been in prison since 2004 for murdering his wife Laci and their unborn son, to publicly share his side of the story for the first time. Peterson claims he is innocent and was wrongly convicted.
Peterson, now 51, was found guilty in 2004 based on circumstantial evidence. He has remained behind bars at Mule Creek State Prison ever since. However, the Los Angeles Innocence Project took up his case earlier this year, arguing Peterson did not receive an adequate defense and reasonable doubts exist regarding his guilt.
In the documentary, Peterson hopes sharing his story will help alleviate some of the pain his family has endured over the two decades since Laci’s disappearance and death. He admits to having an affair but calls it a “casual sexual fling” due to loneliness,...

In an exclusive sneak peek at Peacock’s three-part docuseries Face to Face With Scott Peterson, Peterson denies the speculation that he killed his pregnant wife Laci because he wasn’t ready for fatherhood.
Series director and co-executive producer Shareen Anderson has been investigating the infamous case for over a decade, exploring the possibility that Peterson might not be guilty. For the first time since 2003, Peterson is speaking on camera, sharing his side of the story and attempting to clear up misconceptions about what led to Laci’s death.
“They said that you killed Laci because you didn’t want to be married and you didn’t want to be a father,” the director tells Peterson during their on-camera chat from prison.
“That’s so offensive, so disgusting,” responds Peterson. “I certainly regret cheating on Laci, absolutely.” He pointed out that his adultery stemmed from being “childish, lacking self esteem,...

The trailer for Face to Face With Scott Peterson, the Peacock documentary series that sheds new light on the Laci Peterson murder case, will seemingly present new theories about what happened. The Laci Peterson murder trial concluded with the sentencing of Scott, her husband, to spend the rest of his life in prison after the defense team failed to come up with enough evidence for reasonable doubt. The upcoming true crime docuseries changes the usual perspective and goes for a more controversial take: this time, Scott Peterson is finally speaking after maintaining a very vague (and arguably suspicious) attitude toward the case.
The docuseries, produced by Peacock and directed by Shareen Anderson and Po Kutchins, consists of three episodes of full testimony by Peterson. Other figures involved in the case such as lead detective Al Brocchini, detective Jon Buehler and former ABC News producer Mike Gudgell, will also get to...

I was in my early twenties in 2002 when Laci Peterson, who was eight months pregnant with her first child, went missing. I remember only snippets of news reports as Peterson’s family frantically searched for her and her husband, Scott Peterson, slowly emerged as the prime suspect in her murder. I can picture my own mother watching Peterson’s mom, Sharon Rocha, on the news, sharing in her heartbreak from across the country. But until I recently binge-watched Netflix’s new docuseries American Murder: Laci Peterson, I forgot all about a key component in the case, Amber Frey.
When Frey entered the Netflix docuseries more than 45 minutes into the first episode, I said aloud, all alone in my living room, “Oh my god, I forgot he had a girlfriend.” As Frey’s face flooded the screen, I remembered my mom, who claimed to have been cheated on in both of her marriages,...

Peacock’s ‘Face to Face With Scott Peterson’ Trailer Presents New Theories on Laci Peterson’s Murder
Peacock’s first official trailer for true crime docuseries Face to Face With Scott Peterson shares alternate theories on what could have led to the murder of his wife, Laci Peterson.
“The Los Angeles Innocence Project has come on board to help find all the things that were ignored by the Modesto Police Department,” says Peterson’s sister-in-law, Janey. One new piece of information is that there was a burglary next door. “The burglars may have abducted and killed Laci,” notes Peterson’s former defense attorney Lara Yeretsian. Bryan Spitulski, a former fire investigator for the Modesto Pd, questions, “There’s blood on a mattress in a van. Why didn’t this get brought up?” Yeretsian believes this is “exonerating evidence” that should have required DNA testing.
Besides presenting the theories, the trailer also shows new footage from Peterson’s first on-camera interview since 2003. “Why should anyone want to hear your side of the story?...

For all those Gen Zs and non-us residents out there, Netflix’s American Murder: Laci Peterson can be an intriguing watch. Laci’s disappearance had been all over the American media in late 2002 and early 2003, and therefore, I suppose most Americans already know about it, and Netflix’s documentary doesn’t add any facts or evidence to the narrative that aren’t already out there. So, for the most part, I reckon the documentary series has been made for the newer generation who know more about David Fincher’s Gone Girl (2014) than a real-life woman named Laci Peterson. And even though Gone Girl’s author, Gillian Flynn, had already refuted any claim that she was inspired by Laci’s case, the similarities between the two narratives are quite uncanny.

Scott Peterson, who is serving life in prison for the murder of his wife Laci Peterson and their unborn son, is finally speaking out after 20 years. A new docuseries will sit down with the convicted murderer to talk about his side of the story. Here are the details.
What Does Scott Peterson Have To Say 20 Years Later?
Face To Face With Scott Peterson is Peacock’s new true crime doc. The 51-year-old is breaking his silence about the murder of his wife and unborn child after 20 years.
The first teaser for the docuseries was released on Monday, July 29. In it, director Shareen Anderson asks Scott what his reasoning behind coming forward now is. She asked, “Why should anyone care about what you have to say 20 years later?”
Footage shows Scott Peterson in a prison visiting room, but he doesn’t answer Shareen’s question, not in the teaser trailer anyway.

The Amazing Race season 6 is consistently ranked as one of the worst seasons in history. It doesn't help that it aired only two months after the season prior and a month before the following season, which were both highly rated. The Amazing Race 6 visited seven countries, including Ethiopia and Sri Lanka, and gave the series one of its most memorable challenges when teams unrolled bales of hay in Sweden to find a clue. Sisters Lena and Kristy Jensen spent over eight hours attempting to find one before being eliminated on the spot by the host, Phil Keoghan.
Even with new locales and memorable moments, The Amazing Race 6 is marred by a dull race map, bad casting choices, and unsavory moments. By the time Scott Peterson was set to stand trial for murder in California in the deaths of his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, and unborn son Conner, the case had dominated local and national crime news coverage for more than a year.
