Some very cliched roistering, life-affirming wine-drinking, bourgeois-defying artistic shenanigans here from the veteran screenwriting couple Jerzy and Mary Olson-Kromolowski who have adapted a 1980 stage play, Modigliani by Dennis McIntyre, about the Italian sculptor and painter Amedeo Modigliani, known as Modi. Johnny Depp directs and perhaps sees his subject as a bohemian badass not unlike Hunter S Thompson, whom he played in Terry Gilliam’s 1998 movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – and perhaps not altogether unlike how he sees himself.

Johnny Depp is back behind the camera as a director and he just premiered his new movie Modì, Three Days on the Wing of Madness for a British audience!

The 62-year-old actor and filmmaker walked the red carpet at the premiere on Tuesday (July 8) at the Curzon Mayfair in London, England.

Johnny was joined at the event by cast members Riccardo Scamarcio, who plays the title character Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, as well as Antonia Desplat, Bruno Gouery, and Ryan McParland.

Antonia was previously seen in the Apple TV+ series Shantaram and she was supported on the red carpet by her former co-stars Charlie Hunnam and Shubham Saraf. She is the daughter of two-time Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat.

The movie is being released in the UK on July 11, but it does not yet have a US release date.

‘Modì’ takes place in war-torn Paris during World War I over the course of 48 turbulent hours, according to the film’s provided synopsis.

Johnny Depp is gearing up for his latest production ‘Modi’, which will also star Italian star Luisa Ranieri and Al Pacino. Directed by Depp, the movie has begun its shooting in Budapest, Hungary.

The ‘Halo’ franchise revolves around the Spartans, super soldiers who defend the galaxy against an alien force known as the Covenant. In the new Paramount Plus TV series, one of the Spartans is played by Kate Kennedy, who talked to Variety about her experience gearing up in the armor for the show.

“It was really empowering, I loved entering set everyday wearing the suit,” Kennedy told Variety on the red carpet of the “Halo” premiere this Wednesday. “I felt so badass. And being around such incredible women, and [executive producer] Kiki Wolfkill at the helm, they’re all so impressive, and I’m in awe of all of them.”

Kennedy also told Variety that the suit also helped protect her from sustaining injuries during filming.

“On day one, Pablo [Schreiber] has a video actually, I’m sure it will come to surface, of me totally hitting deck, just face-plant in the cave,” Kennedy said.

The successful Halo Xbox video game franchise began in 2001 and it appears that the Halo TV series also has a bright future. The military sci-fi drama series debuts on Paramount+ on March 24th and the streaming service has now renewed the show for a second season. David Wiener will join as showrunner and an executive producer.

Revolving around a 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat, the first season of Halo stars Pablo Schreiber, Natascha McElhone, and Jen Taylor with Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, Danny Sapani, Ryan McParland, Burn Gorman, and Fiona O'Shaughnessy.

Paramount+ today announced that its highly anticipated upcoming series Halo, based on the iconic Xbox franchise, has been renewed for a second season prior to the series’ upcoming launch on Thursday, March 24, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and in all international markets where the streaming service is available.

In addition, David Wiener will join the series as showrunner and executive producer for the second season.

“Halo is an expansive, world-building opportunity for Paramount+, and we’re thrilled to give fans a second season to look forward to before we launch the series next month,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer, Paramount+.

Halo, after more than eight winding years in development, will finally land at Paramount+ this spring.

The sci-fi drama, which stars Pablo Schreiber as video game icon Master Chief, has gone through a number of hoops to get to the ViacomCBS streaming platform – from switching over from Showtime to Paramount+ to the exit of co-showrunner Kyle Kinnen in 2018. However, executive producers including Kiki Wolfkill and Justin Falvey say that finally launching the series was a product of commitment and patience.

Paramount+ on Sunday unveiled the premiere date for the highly anticipated adaptation of the videogame series.

The series will get underway Thursday, March 24.

It will be a weekly rollout like other original series on the streaming service.

Exclusive: Louis Melville directs story of British soldiers in Afghanistan.

Moviehouse Entertainment has boarded world sales on writer-director Louis Melville’s completed UK war film Boots On The Ground.

Melville previously wrote and directed horror mystery The Man Who Sold The World and produces Boots On The Ground with Moon co-producer Alex Francis.

The film follows five British soldiers as they try to stay alive over the course of one night on deployment in Afghanistan.

The film stars Tom Ainsley, Ryan McParland, Sally Day, Ian Virgo, and Valmike Rampersad.

Melville brokered the deal for the producers with Moviehouse Entertainment’s Mark Vennis, who said: “We’re hugely excited to have secured sales rights for Boots On The Ground. We think it’s an innovative British horror that’ll take audiences to the edge of their seats.”
