Prison Break was revived — and not for the first time — on Netflix last year when it was added to the platform and topped Nielsen charts for months straight. This prompted Hulu to greenlight a Prison Break reboot near the end of 2024, one that reportedly had no plans to bring back any former Prison Break stars. However, this didn’t stop fans from speaking their mind, with many calling for original stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller to return as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Purcell, who is also known for his work as Mick Rory in DC’s Arrowverse, decided he’s heard enough. Purcell took to his personal Instagram to definitively respond to the rumors, shutting them down and confirming he will not return in the Prison Break reboot.

The Prison Break reboot is reportedly set in the same universe as the original Prison Break, but featuring all-new characters.

Hulu’s plans for a Prison Breakreboot continue to expand, with their pilot adding a Justified and The Americans star to their growing cast roster. First announced in November 2023, work on the reboot of the popular 2000’s crime thriller began gathering steam in March when Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Cage (The White Lotus) and Drake Rodger (The Winchesters) were first announced as series regulars. Since then, the Prison Break reboot’s cast list has also expanded to include Mayans M.C. alums Clayton Cardenas and Jr Bourne, as well as Georgie Flores (Kappa Kappa Die) and Myles Bullock (Runaways).

The pilot for the upcoming Prison Break reboot is set to kick off production next week, but they’ve landed some major guest stars to fill out the cast. Drum roll, please. Margo Martindale (Justified), Ray McKinnon (Deadwood), Lili Taylor (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping), Donal Logue (Duster), and Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming) will all guest star in the Prison Break reboot pilot.

The pilot, which hails from writer Elgin James, will be set within the same world as the original Fox series but will feature new characters and a new storyline. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps.

Big casting news has been revealed for the upcoming Prison Break reboot series in the works at Hulu. New names have been attached to the cast, and they'll come with a reunion for two stars of Mayans M.C., the Sons of Anarchy spinoff.

Per Deadline, the pilot that's in development for the reboot has cast Mayans M.C. actors Clayton Cardenas (Mayor of Kingstown) and Jr Bourne (Teen Wolf). Other new additions include Georgie Flores (Into the Dark) and Myles Bullock (Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist). All four actors are playing series regular roles, and they follow the previous castings of lead stars Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, and Drake Rodger.

The main character Clarence, played by Christian Slater, hallucinates Elvis as a sort of guardian angel. Presley died on Jan. 12 at the age of 54 and was laid to rest Jan. 22 on the grounds of Graceland in Memphis, Tn, near her father, Elvis Presley, and son, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020 at the age of 27. She's survived by Riley, as well as her 14-year-old twin daughters Harper and Finley Lockwood, whom she shared with ex-husband Michael Lockwood, and her mother, Priscilla Presley.

The show is inspired by the reporting of journalist Amy Chozick. Exclusive: Management firm and production company The Cartel has signed a trio of new clients: Into the Badlands and Defiance executive producers Michael Taylor, Why Women Kill consulting producer and Grand Hotel co-ep Curtis Kheel, and Famous In Love actor Niki Koss.

Koss starred in Freeform’s Famous In Love as Alexis Glenn, where she was a series regular opposite Bella Thorne, Charlie DePew, Carter Jenkins and Georgie Flores. She also appeared in Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse, Red Wing, The Appearing, Girl On The Edge, Trafficked, and Warning Shot. She acted and produced Dreamcatcher and Burying Yasmeen. Koss also won of the Female Filmmaker of the Year at the 2019 Burbank International Film Festival and is a Sundance Institute Directing Fellowship alumni.

Amazon has given the formal green light to a comedy pilot written and directed by Catalina Aguilar Mastretta (Everybody Loves Somebody). Lorenza Izzo (Life Itself) is set as the lead in the untitled project for Amazon Prime Video, with Georgie Flores (Famous in Love), Giancarlo Vidrio (El Vato), Ben O’Toole (Hacksaw Ridge), Sarah Ramos and Patricia Bernal (Everybody Loves Somebody) also cast. Famous In Love executive producer I. Marlene King reached out via Twitter to share her reaction to today’s cancellation of the Freeform drama series starring Bella Thorne.

“I am deeply grateful for the #FamousInLove cast, crew and our passionate fans. I could not be more saddened by today’s news,” King wrote. “I love these characters and the wild ride they were taking us on. Thank you @warnerbrosTV for fighting the good fight with me. We gave it our all. Keep #Raige in your hearts and they will live on.”

There had been online reports earlier this week that the series had been cancelled, but the official decision came down Friday, despite fans’ efforts to keep it afloat. In its statement announcing the cancellation, Freeform noted that the decision was not an easy one. The series ended Season 2 with season highs in key demos, but ratings year-over-year had declined.

Freeform is breaking up with “Famous in Love,” choosing to cancel the series from “Pretty Little Liars” showrunner I. Marlene King after two seasons.

“We are proud to have had the opportunity to air ‘Famous In Love,'” a spokesperson for Freeform told TheWrap in a statement Friday. “After many discussions we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work and dedication.”

The Bella Thorne-led drama aired its season finale on the younger-skewing cable network last month, an episode that will now serve as the series finale.

The Bella Thorne-led series aired on the cable network for two seasons. Based on the novel by Rebecca Serle, the series followed college student Paige (Thorne) as she gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster. News of the cancellation comes just weeks after the cancellation of fellow Freeform series “Shadowhunters.”

“We are proud to have had the opportunity to air Famous In Love,” Freeform said in a statement. “After many discussions we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work and dedication.”

In addition to Thorne, the series starred Charlie DePew, Georgie Flores, Carter Jenkins, Niki Koss, Keith Powers, Pepi Sonuga, and Perrey Reeves.

Updated: The last-ditch fan effort to save Famous In Love led by executive producer I. Marlene King has come up short. Freeform has opted not to order a third season of the drama series starring Bella Thorne. The May 30 Season 2 finale served as the series finale.

The renewal decision was not an easy one. The series ended Season 2 on a high note, showing organic growth and posting new season highs in key demographics in three of the last five weeks. However, year-vs-year, Famous In Love’s ratings were down.

Marlene King just took to Twitter to counter online reports that the series has been canceled, with the May 30 season 2 finale serving as the series finale.
