Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Movie Drops New ‘Parent & Child’ Footage

The official website for the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid anime revealed a new footage on June 1, 2025, for the upcoming theatrical film, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants To Be Loved.

The latest video, titled “Parent & Child,” focuses on the complex relationship between Kanna and her father, Kimun Kamui, while also exploring Kanna and Miss Kobayashi’s feelings toward him.

The movie is set to release in Japan on June 27, 2025.

Tatsuya Ishihara directs the film at Kyoto Animation. He previously worked on the anime’s second season. The voice cast from the anime too will be reprising their roles in the movie.

Mutsumi Tamura will return as Kobayashi, Yuki Kuwahara will voice Tohru, and Maria Naganawa will once again voice Kanna.

Fumihiko Tachiki and Nobunaga Shimazaki will voice new characters Kimun Kamui and Azard in the movie. Additionally, Shiori Sugiora will replace Tomomi Mineuchi as Illulu’s Va.

Dan Da Dan season 2 will be here before you know it, and the next round of supernatural action is officially set for a July 3 premiere in Japan. On top of that, the first three episodes will screen theatrically outside of Japan as Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye starting on June 6. The official website of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants To Be Loved revealed a new trailer for the movie on April 2, 2024, previewing its ending theme song.

Sachiko Kobayashi is performing the Ed for the movie, titled Bokutachi no Hibi. Kobayashi stated that the song’s main theme was “universal love” and it aimed to encapsulate the efforts people make to understand each other and bridge their differences.

The movie is set to release in Japan on June 27, 2025. Check out the new trailer below:

In addition to the ending theme song, the official website also revealed that artist kotringo’s Negaigoto will serve as the insert song of the movie.

During their 2025 anime lineup live stream, Kyoto Animation revealed that Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid franchise will be getting a new movie.

The movie is titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants To Be Loved, and will hit theatres in Japan in 2025.

A new key visual, featuring Kanna Kamui, and a new teaser were released along with the announcement. Check them out below.

The teaser essentially animates the key visual itself. However, the teaser ends with Kanna saying “Bye, bye Kobayashi.”

The upcoming film will be directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, who previously worked on the anime’s second season. The voice cast from the anime too will be reprising their roles in the movie.

Official Twitter account of Disney Plus Japan unveiled a new trailer and key visual for the upcoming Sand Land anime series, titled Sand Land: The Series, on March 18, 2024.

The trailer previews the series’ opening theme song, “Water Carrier,” performed by Kroi, as well as the ending theme song, “Drive My Idea,” performed by Tempalay.

Sand Land: The Series will premiere on March 20, 2024, making its debut with the first seven episodes simultaneously on Disney+ Star’s “Star Anime Series” programming. Following the debut, episodes 8-13 will be released weekly, with each episode dropping every Wednesday.

For viewers in the U.S., the series will also stream on Hulu.

The first six episodes, titled the “Akuma no Oji” (Prince of Demons) arc, will be a retelling of the Sand Land anime film, but adapted into a series format with some added footage.

Studio Pierrot’s upcoming anime Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai has just released a second trailer, in which the Opening Song “poi” by Saucy Dog has also been presented to the public. The anime is premiering on Nhk on April 6, 2024 and so far we can say that we’re quite excited about it.

Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai is actually an adaptation of the historical fantasy series Yatagarasu, which began as a novel series written by Chisato Abe in 2012. In 2018, the first novel in the series was adapted into manga format under the title A Raven for All Seasons, with a sequel manga – Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai – debuting in 2020. The anime y Studio Pierrot is going to be an adaptation of the second novel, Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai, which is the same one adapted in the 2020 manga. Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball, without a doubt, was a beacon of light for the anime and manga industry which ushered in a new era. It inspired and influenced a whole generation of artists and creators in Japan and overseas.

However, it wasn’t just Toriyama’s work that was iconic, the author himself served as an inspiration to many. The news of sudden passing came a shock to many in the industry, who took to Sns in order to convey their heartfelt messages for Toriyama.

Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land Anime Series Reveals Release Date & Other Details

The official website of Sand Land revealed the much anticipated release date for the anime series on Feb 4, 2024.

Sand Land: The Series will premiere on March 20, 2024, making its debut with the first seven episodes simultaneously on Disney+ Star’s “Star Anime Series” programming. Following the debut, episodes 8-13 will be released weekly, with each episode dropping every Wednesday.

For viewers in the U.S., the series will also stream on Hulu.

The first six episodes, titled the “Akuma no Oji” (Prince of Demons) arc, will be a retelling of the Sand Land anime film, but adapted into a series format with some added footage.

Disney+ Star Japan has announced that it will stream Sand Land: The Series -- a new series adapted from a manga by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame -- that picks up from the events of the anime film, which debuted in Japan on Aug. 18.

Sand Land: The Series will stream under Disney+ Star's "Star Anime Series" starting in Spring 2024, with the official Sand Land website confirming that the title will be a new and continuing story following the events of the anime film adaptation. The series will deliver some fan service by featuring clips cut from the anime film as well as select scenes directly adapted from the manga. The announcement also came with a key visual, seen below, depicting Beelzebub, Thief and Rao riding a dune buggy.

The upcoming superhero anime Shy received a new trailer revealing more details about the show, including its premiere date. Bukimi Miki's manga is set to be adapted by Eightbit, and promises to provide a new twist to the superhero genre thanks to its heroine. Shy is expected to join the Fall 2023 lineup of anime.

The newest trailer of Shy can be seen on the Emotion Label Channel YouTube channel. In it, more scenes from the anime and voice actors are revealed, expanding on the cast that was first shown in the Crunchyroll trailer. Sand Land creator Akira Toriyama recently expressed his gratitude to the fans who went to see the movie in theaters.

Among Toriyama's prolific body of work, Sand Land is relatively more obscure compared to titans such as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. The film began its theatrical run in Japan on Aug. 18. As detailed on Anime News Network, Toriyama's thank-you message to Sand Land's viewers appeared during Toho's 15-minute preview of the film, which premiered on the company's official YouTube channel on Sept. 1. Tomozaku Sugita, who portrays Toriyama's favorite character, Swimmer's Papa, read the artist's message at the start of the video.

Toyotarou, the main artist for Dragon Ball Super, released a new sketch of Beelzebub and Satan from Akira Toriyama's Sand Land.

Toyotarou showcased the image on his personal X (or Twitter) page, explaining that he drew it in commemoration of the film's release. Having seen the movie, the artist playfully compares it to Pixar's popular Monsters Inc. and Toy Story franchises, as well as its popular predecessor, Dragon Ball. "Quite frankly, it was super fun...so if you like Dragon Ball, you have no choice not to watch it!" Toyotarou wrote in his post.

Dragon Ball Creator’s Sand Land Anime Headed to North America

The North American premiere window for the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Sand Land has been revealed.

According to Anime News Network, the film will officially arrive in North America sometime in 2024; however, Sand Land will be screened at Montreal's upcoming 26th Fantasia International Film Festival. The movie will debut in Japan on August 18, receiving IMAX, 4Dx, and MX4D releases; at the time of writing, it is unknown what type of release Sand Land will get in North American markets.

Sand Land, the beloved and acclaimed manga by Dragon Ball mangaka Akira Toriyama, will release a video game adaptation.

Announced during Summer Game Fest, Sand Land has landed itself a video game adaptation and unveiled an official trailer. Developed in Unreal Engine 5 by Bandai Namco, the video game invites players to dive into "a mysterious desert world where humans and demons live together." Players will control the main character Beelzebub as he roams around the vast desert landscape in various vehicles, including tanks, to fight against human and demonic opponents. Sand Land will be available to play on PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Film Review: ‘Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn’
It’s a Herculean effort to take a multi-volume manga like author Akihito Tsukushi’s “Made in Abyss,” adapt it into a popular anime television series, and then compress the show into a coherent feature, but the folks at Sentai Filmworks have done just that. Part one, “Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn,” will screen around the U.S. in its original Japanese on March 20 and in an English dub on March 25, to be followed at a later date by “Wandering Twilight,” which opened in Japan in January.

While the first half of director Masayuki Kojima’s cinematic cut-down hits more ebbs than flows, its character-driven escapades and colorful fantasy landscape are captivating enough to engage the uninitiated.
