The Jurassic Games: Extinction Review: A Glorious, Flawed B-Movie
Image
The moving image has long been fascinated with the spectacle of death as public sport. From gladiatorial epics to dystopian futures, the arena serves as a stage for humanity’s most base instincts. The Jurassic Games: Extinction throws its hat into this crowded ring, proposing a scenario of such ludicrous ambition that one can only admire its audacity.

This sequel continues the saga of a virtual reality game show where contestants, wired into a digital world, face off against prehistoric beasts for the entertainment of the masses. It is a premise that wears its B-movie heart on its sleeve, promising not high art but high-concept carnage. The narrative picks up with Tucker, the survivor of the prior contest, now a cyber-insurgent aiming to dismantle the system from within.

His foil is Jo Lafort, the game’s new architect, a woman whose ambition is matched only by her willingness to broadcast bloodshed.

The terrible lizards of Jurassic Park are back this summer in Jurassic World: Rebirth. But that isn't the only movie with a prehistoric rampage hitting screens this year. The VR Velociraptors of The Jurassic Games are back in a new sequel, The Jurassic Games: Extinction, and Collider has an exclusive first look at the movie's new trailer and poster. The film will be released On Demand and Digital on June 24, and on Blu-ray and DVD on July 22.

The Jurassic Games films are set in a dystopian future where the titular program is the most popular game show in the world. ‘Dinosaur World’ Review
Image
Stars: Phuong Kubacki, Xing Yu, Mike Pu, Steven He, Evan Assante, Christy Tate, Samuel Wang | Written by Chris Hoyt, Xing Haishun, Wu Chenglei | Directed by Ryan Bellgardt

If the opening minutes of Dinosaur World look somewhat familiar, there’s a good reason for that. In 2018 director Ryan Bellgardt made a film called The Jurassic Games which proved quite popular in China. He was approached to do a remake for the Chinese streaming market. So he and writer Chris Hoyt (The Adventures of Jurassic Pet) along with a pair of Chinese writers Xing Haishun and Wu Chenglei reworked the script for that market and filmed it in Oklahoma with a Chinese cast and a mix of new and recycled effects. And now that version is getting a North American release.

The VR version of the popular game Dinosaur World is about to come out of closed beta and to celebrate the developers are running a contest.

The Hunger Games get jurassic in The Jurassic Games, a direct to DVD title that is best easily described as Jurassic Park meets The Most Dangerous Game. The plot goes something like this:

Every year, 10 of the world’s most lethal death row criminals are chosen to compete for their freedom in The Jurassic Games, a television show where contestants must survive against a variety of ferocious dinosaurs. The players all die gruesomely in the game zone except for one, the last one standing, the winner, who is granted not only his freedom, but fame and fortune. Survive the dinosaurs. Survive each other. Survive… The Jurassic Games.

Jurassic Games Trailer Is Jurassic Park Meets Hunger Games on Steroids
Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Ariana Richards, BD Wong, Joseph Mazzello, Martin Ferrero, and Bob Peck in Jurassic Park (1993)
Have you ever wondered privately what it might be like if the Jurassic Park franchise was thrown in a blender with The Hunger Games, but given a very small budget in order to make it happen? Probably not, but The Jurassic Games trailer is here to show you what that looks like. As it so happens, it looks exactly how you might expect it to look and, depending on your love for low-budget B-movie action, that is either going to be a great or terrible thing.

This trailer, in a not at all surprising bit of convenient timing, just so happened to drop on the same day that the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrived. Coincidence? Likely not. And if you're one of the people who just can't find a reason to get excited about a fifth Jurassic Park movie, this may serve as a schlocky substitute. The Jurassic Games...

When you name your monster movie “Gremlin“, it’s pretty damned hard to avoid comparisons to Joe Dante’s family-horror masterpiece. Gremlin Trailer Gives the Gift of Ultimate Terror
Gremlin (2017)
This ain't your daddy's Gremlins. While that 80s masterpiece of monster goodness is considered a classic by most, it's not quite clear when or if we'll ever see the much talked about reboot. So, instead, today we get a trailer for Gremlin. Will it fill the void? Probably not. But it sure looks hella fun anyway!

Emmy Award winning director Ryan Bellgardt's (Army of Frankenstein) highly anticipated creature feature Gremlin hits VOD July 11 from Uncork'd Entertainment. This means you don't have to leave the comforts of your house to enjoy it, battling cineplex crowds to see something that may not even be worth your while. Let the dummies battle it out for seat supremacy. Gremlin looks way cooler than anything coming out on that date any way!
