The cinematic universe just got a little more exciting with the release of the official trailer for “Mooned,” a sci-fi short film that’s set to play before the animated adventure “Migration.” This short film is an intriguing blend of humor and cosmic mystery, featuring the return of Vector, the memorable villain from the first “Despicable Me” movie.

“Mooned” is a creative venture by Universal and Illumination, focusing on what happened to Vector after he was marooned on the Moon. Fans of the franchise will recall that Vector, voiced by Jason Segel, met this lunar fate at the hands of Gru in the series’ first installment. This short film, spanning just under 9 minutes, aims to answer the long-standing question: What has Vector been up to all this time?

In a surprising twist, the Minions, voiced by Pierre Coffin, are also stuck with Vector, adding their unique brand of humor to the mix.

Elizabeth Banks and Kumail Nanjiani lend their voices to Illumination’s latest animated comedy Migration, the story of a duck family who break out of their everyday lives and take off to Jamaica. The new trailer shows the Mallard family setting out on an incredible adventure and encountering a steady stream of wacky problems.

‘Despicable Me’ composer Williams teased a new collaboration with Illumination.

Chris Meledandri, founder of animation studio Illumination, received a Golden Ticket lifetime achievement award today (June 14) in Annecy, with a surprise presentation by music superstar Pharrell Williams.

Williams gave Meledandri the award following a presentation of first footage from Illumination’s new feature Migration.

The singer-songwriter teased a new collaboration with Meledandri and Illumination, saying “we’re working on something so ambitious right now that when it’s done, it’s going to take all of you on the ride of your lives.” Williams has worked on five Illumination films,...

This year, the Annecy Animation Film Festival hosts a variety of first-looks and works-in-progress, including the anticipated “Migration,” from Illumination, to be released by Universal on Dec. 22.

On the heels of a presentation at CinemaCon in April, Illumination chief Chris Meledandri will present never-before-seen footage of the feature at Annecy June 13. Meledandri and “Migration” director Benjamin Renner will also be in conversation about the film.

Hollywood stars Kumail Nanjiani and Elizabeth Banks will lead the voice cast of the upcoming film ‘Migration’, an animated adventure about a family of ducks on the go.

“I find ducks so irresistible,” Illumination founder Chris Meledandri told the crowd at CinemaCon on Wednesday as he unveiled the complete voice cast for the original cartoon comedy, reports Variety.

“In our movie, ducks worked beautifully to convey the relatable quirks and truths of a modern-day family.”

Attendees of the annual Las Vegas-based exhibition industry trade show were also treated to an extended first-look at ‘Migration’, which opens in theatres on December 22.

The road-trip story follows a family of ducks, who try to convince their overprotective father to embark on the vacation of a lifetime.
