Scott Vickers will write and direct, with the film shooting from July.

Ant Middleton, chief instructor on UK TV series Sas: Who Dares Wins, will make his film debut with action thriller Shelter.

Middleton will also produce with Mark Quinn through their Middleton Quinn Productions, alongside Rise Of The Footsoldier: Origins producer Tiernan Hanby.

Qed International has acquired international sales rights to the title, which will be written and directed by Scott Vickers, writer-director-star of 2018 horror Matriarch.  

An eight-week shoot will start in July.

Covert Media has come on board at Efm to handle worldwide sales on British filmmaker Scott Vickers’ horror thriller Matriarch.

The film, which wrapped last year, shot over 12 days in late 2016 in a farm owned by executive producer Alan Cuthbert in Balfron near Glasgow. Vickers’ partner at New Light Films, Steven Little, produces.

Vickers cut his teeth in acting, screenwriting and short film directing and wrote the screenplay about a pregnant woman and her husband who are taken in by a farmer and his wife after their car crashes in the remote Scottish countryside.

Once inside, they realise their hosts’ daughter is in fact abducted and made headlines when she went missing years earlier. Things begin to heat up when the farmer and his wife tell the couple they want to take the woman’s baby once the child is born.

Scott Ryan Vickers has always been good during his time on the show, but he was particularly strong in this episode. Will is such a well drawn and multi-dimensional character and Vickers inhabits him so well. The scenes with his father were very well done as Will let out years of anger and frustration over how poorly his father has treated him. I’m also glad that the show ended the abusive caregiver storyline. It was nice that it led to Will and his dad finally starting to work things out between them, even...

I liked the idea of the guys getting together for Riley's memorial service, even if Doug and Riley’s friendship was very contrived and never really utilized that often. If I recall correctly, Riley was close friends with Ethan and Noah and Doug was the drug dealing lowlife who moved into Noah’s apartment. Doug and Riley's close bond was an off camera creation of the writer, so their supposed friendship never rang true to me. Still I enjoyed the scenes, even if they were bad manipulations of the plot at best.

But even more contrived was Ally being invited to the memorial. Ally and Riley were not friends and I don’t think they ever had much to do with each other. There was no reason for him to be there other than to stir things up with Ste, when there were other ways to accomplish that.

Gary Lamont has said that he hopes his River City storyline inspires other gay men to come out to their families. The Scottish soap actor's character Robbie Fraser will soon suffer domestic violence from partner Will Cooper (Scott Ryan Vickers).
