The story of a family’s reaction to the senseless death of a young son and brother, “The 5th Quarter,” written and directed by Rick Bieber, inspires, heals and transforms. In a time of war, its relevance resonates. Based on real-life events, the film offers a feel-good story and a powerful message — viz, we can get through this together. Though riddled with structural problems, the film offers a cathartic emotional roller coaster that begins with grief and ends with elation.
