The Purge 5 Brings in Will Patton and Cassidy Freeman
Well, it looks like Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes' hit The Purge franchise is still going as strong as ever. In fact, today we hear that Luke Cage director Everardo Gout's upcoming currently untitled fifth entry in the theatrical film series has just snagged two more actors for the annual anything-goes event. Yes, today we've learned that The Purge 5 has brought in Will Patton (Armageddon) and Cassidy Freeman (The Righteous Gemstones) for undisclosed roles.

Will Patton and Cassidy Freeman will be joining the previously announced cast of Ana de la Reguera (Nacho Libre) and Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico) in the new Blumhouse/Platinum Dunes horror thriller. It's said The Purge 5 will be ditching its usual city-setting for a more rural tale still dealing with class and race issues.

While that's really all we have to go on at this point in time, my movie senses have me speculating that this...

Dread hit the black carpet of the tenth annual Screamfest La film festival this past Saturday night at the Grauman’s 6 Theatre in the center of Hollywood, CA, and brought back some video interviews with the filmmakers of the Los Angeles premiering features YellowBrickRoad and Needle.

On hand to discuss the former were the writer/director team of Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland, who enthusiastically chatted up their twist on the “forest horror film,” as were Needle director John V. Soto and producer Deidre Kitcher, Australian filmmakers who riffed on the slasher/giallo hybrid that is Needle.

YellowBrickRoad cast members/producers Clark Freeman and Cassidy Freeman were on hand as well, as were YellowBrickRoad actors Michael Laurino and Laura Heisler and Needle players Trilby Glover, Tahnya Tozzi and Kahn Chittenden. DC Presents: Indie Horror Filmmakers to Watch: Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland - YellowBrickRoad
While at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival, this writer had the pleasure of meeting the cast and creative forces behind YellowBrickRoad, an indie genre film that ended up being one of the most buzzed about entries in what has turned into Park City’s true independent film festival.

What impressed me most about YellowBrickRoad’s directing duo of Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland was their passion for the film. Now with their Slamdance debut a few months behind them and their film about to play the also prestigious Atlanta Film Festival on April 19th and 20th, I thought the timing was perfect to talk to the pair about their film, their journey to get to this point, and what’s next for them.

Mitton and Holland met while attending school at Middlebury College in Vermont. Brought together through their mutual admiration for both horror films and theater, they found a kindred...
