Every Arrowverse Crossover Ranked
Image
The Arrowverse has had several crossovers over the years, with Crisis on Infinite Earths finally bringing all the shows together on Earth Prime. The 2015 crossover, Heroes Join Forces, is often forgotten and poorly regarded due to its connection with the unpopular series Legends of Tomorrow. Crisis on Earth-x is considered the best Arrowverse crossover, with its epic battle against Nazi doppelgangers and significant character developments.

The Arrowverse had several crossovers over the course of the years, providing a wide range of stories for its audience. The CW's shared superhero universe officially kicked off when The Flash joined the flagship series, Arrow, in 2014. The next series, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, gave a new home to the Arrowverse's many outcast heroes and villains while opening up time travel. In 2016, Supergirl jumped from CBS and joined the Arrowverse timeline and, in 2019, Batwoman became the latest series in the pantheon as Arrow season 8 ended...

10 Strongest Justice League Members Still Missing From The Dcu
Image
With Wonder Woman 3 no longer proceeding as planned after DC Studios decided to go in a different direction and a Man of Steel sequel seeming less likely following Henry Cavill’s return in Black Adam, fans are wondering when they'll likely see these powerful superheroes again. Based on Gunn's initial tweets, it looks like the two are trying to lay the groundwork for the "next ten years," working out which superheroes they should flesh out first, what stories they can adapt, and how they could eventually expand their roster.

Given its extensive history in the comics, The Justice League would be a great place to start since it has some fascinating and powerful members. Some are practically gods like Wonder Woman, fellow aliens like Superman, or simply mystical figures (which is a side of the Dcu that has yet to be explored in depth). With the Dcu also...

Marc Alan Fishman: Firestorm? More like Fire Storm!
Just as my ComicMix cohort, the Legend of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow Denny O’Neil, I have jumped gently back into the TV fracas again with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Denny was quick to note in the macro that the show harkens to a very base pulp root – that of myth of the voyage. But my gaze is far more acutely focused on but a single moment from the first episode of the CW’s titular team up.

Shortly after The Doctor – um, I mean Rip Hunter – has pitched woo to each of his would-be Legends, we’re treated to the monotony of joining each member as they pack up their lives to go adventuring. With seemingly everyone on board, we assume smooth sailing… until we reach the immaculate home of Professor Martin Stein. There, amidst his country bumpkin bric-a-brac, Stein and his young ward (Jax Jackson, because all...

Jonah Hex Is Coming to DC's 'Legends of Tomorrow'
John Malkovich, Josh Brolin, Michael Fassbender, and Megan Fox in Jonah Hex (2010)
When DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs its series premiere on The CW Thursday, January 19, fans will be introduced to plenty of familiar faces from Arrow and The Flash, along with a slew of new characters from the DC Comics. We already got our first look at some of these fresh faces like Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh) and Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in the Arrow & Flash crossover from last month, but fans will also be introduced to another iconic comic book figure later this season: Jonah Hex. Here's what executive producer Marc Guggenheim had to say about bringing on Jonah Hex, in a statement to Variety.

"Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West. But if you're going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply...

The CW's DC Comics universe is about to get much bigger with the debut of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which unites heroes and villains from both Arrow and The Flash with several new characters. As we get closer and closer to the Thursday, January 21 premiere date, USA Today has released a new trailer, which shows this unique group of future Legends travelling back in time to the year 1975. If that wasn't enough, The CW has also released a new promo that showcases the new Firestorm, Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh) and Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber).

In DC's Legends of Tomorrow, when heroes alone are not enough, the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat - one in which not only the planet is at stake,...

Grant Gustin in The Flash (2014)
Robbie Amell Will Become Deathstorm in 'The Flash' Season 2
Grant Gustin in The Flash (2014)
Yesterday, new photos from The Flash set in Vancouver revealed that Robbie Amell is coming back as Ronnie Raymond, who was one half of Firestorm in the first season. Since he was spotted wearing his Firestorm costume, and Franz Drameh's Jax Jackson has taken over as the new half of Firestorm with Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), many have assumed that Robbie Amell will be playing the Earth-2 version of Firestorm in the back half of The Flash Season 2. Today, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the actor will in fact be playing the Earth-2 version of Firestorm, entitled Deathstorm.

"We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash. You can't keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he's back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm."

Robbie Amell Revealed as Earth-2 Firestorm in 'The Flash' Season 2
Robbie Amell
Earlier this season on The Flash, it was revealed that Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh) would be stepping in for Robbie Amell's Ronnie Raymond as the second half of Firestorm, with Victor Garber's Dr. Martin Stein. Last month, Robbie Amell sent out two cryptic photos that teased he was returning to The Flash, and now we have the first photo of the actor on the set, thanks to Canada Graphs. It isn't known what specific episode the actor will be returning in, but it's clear that he will appear as the Firestorm in Earth-2

We haven't seen Robbie Amell's Ronnie Raymond since The Flash Season 2 premiere, The Man Who Saved Central City, where it was revealed that Ronnie disappeared into the singularity known as the Speed Force. Ronnie made up one half of the iconic character Firestorm, along with Victor Garber's Dr. Martin Stein. In Ronnie's absence,...

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is shaping up to be the biggest superhero TV show of all time. And it's about to get a little bit bigger. A new report claims that Arrow star Matthew Nable is set to return, and will reprise his fan-favorite role as Ra's al Ghul. He'll show up in the as yet untitled Episode 9 when the series premieres early next year.

At this time, it isn't known if Ra's has somehow survived his apparent death at the end of Arrow Season 3. His appearance may also be the result of time travel. DC's Legends of Tomorrow is bringing together quite a few characters from both The CW's Arrow and The Flash, so it should come as no surprise that they would attempt to resurrect one of the more popular faces to have appeared in recent years.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow cast of characters include Firestorm, Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh), Firestorm's other half,...

The Flash season 2 episode 4 review: The Fury Of The Firestorm

The Flash seems to be spending a lot of time prepping spin-off Legends Of Tomorrow and coasting on last year's good will in season two...

This review contains spoilers.

2.4 The Fury Of The Firestorm

Ronnie’s apparently dead and, along with a new love interest for Caitlin, we knew we were due a replacement Firestorm buddy for Stein. Enter Jax Jackson, who I’m told is a character invented solely for the TV show, and who made a pretty great impression during this week’s episode.

It’s not that Ronnie wasn’t okay as season one’s Firestorm, it’s just that he never really meshed well with the group dynamic. Jax, however, is a younger and just generally more interesting presence in Star Labs. On paper, he’s set completely apart from Barry and the rest of the team and, more importantly, he’s the polar opposite of Stein.

'Flash' Season 2 Trailer Goes Searching for a New Firestorm
Grant Gustin in The Flash (2014)
Back in September, just before Season 2 of The Flash debuted, The CW Network released a trailer that teased a new Firestorm. This sneak peek showed Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (Franz Drameh) wearing the Firestorm suit, hinting that he will emerge on the show before starring in the midseason series DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Today, the network has released another trailer and poster for next week's episode, The Fury of Firestorm, which shows why the new Firestorm pair was created.

We first saw Firestorm last season, a character formed by the merging of two completely different people, Robbie Amell's Ronnie Raymond and Victor Garber's Dr. Martin Stein. After the events of the season finale in May, fans may not be seeing much of Ronnie any more, after it was confirmed in the Season 2 premiere that he actually died in the first season finale. This trailer shows that Martin Stein's health is deteriorating,...

Renewals

Two lesser known shows scored pick-ups today. First up, Hulu has ordered a second season of its original dramedy series "Casual" which premiered two weeks ago on the streaming service. The Jason Reitman-produced show stars Frances Conroy, Michaela Watkins and Tommy Dewey and follows a newly divorced single mother living with her brother and daughter.

Fox has given a put pilot commitment to the time-travel comedy series "In Time" which comes from "Last Man On Earth" executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Inside Out 2012: ‘Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together’; when Jamie met Jessie
Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together

Written and directed by Wendy Jo Carlton

USA, 2011

It’s long been said that men and women can’t be ‘just friends’. In many Hollywood films (When Harry Met Sally, Friends With Benefits, Friends With Kids, ad infinitum) this axiom becomes a pursuant theme, which they always, and invariably, succumb to.

But what about the gay community? Surely, the same rules must apply. If platonic, heterosexual relationships are undone by corporeal attraction, then so to must homosexual relationships. In her romantic comedy about love between best friends, Wendy Jo Carlton spins into familiar territory with a queer twist, but instead of being a reductive, banal mimicry of her hetero-centric contemporary’s, Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together has enough heart and ingenuity to stand on its own.

Initially, Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together does feel a lot like When Harry Met Sally. Set in Chicago,...

Interview with "Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together" director Wendy Jo Carlton
Fortunately or unfortunately, most of us have fallen hard for a friend. Sometimes it works out but many times it fails to spark because the other party was oblivious to your attraction, the timing was off or they just weren’t that into you. Suffice it to say, when writer/director Wendy Jo Carlton set out to make a new movie, she found her inspiration at (where else?) a Chicago Dyke March when she noticed the extreme closeness of friends Jacqui Jackson and Jessica London-Shields. Review of "Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together"
A musical romantic comedy that defies genre conventions and expectations left and right, Jamie and Jessie are Not Together is one of the funniest, most original lesbian films of the year. With an attractive, likeable cast of characters, snappy, believable dialogue and two phenomenal leads, it’s a summery blast of fresh air.

At first, it seems like our carefree leads are in a relationship, as they spend plenty of time together skinny dipping on the beach and snuggling on their couch, the picture of domestic bliss. However, it quickly becomes apparent that they are not actually together – Jamie is dating...

"Amelia"

Awards season takes flight with celebrated director Mira Nair's biopic charting the early life and rise to prominence of pioneering aviatrix Amelia Earhart. Hilary Swank produced and stars as the elusive Kansas-born pilot as she perilously navigates the skies, the trappings of fame and her romances with publisher George Putnam (Richard Gere) and Gene Vidal (Ewan McGregor). Christopher Eccleston, Cherry Jones and Mia Wasikowska join the heavyweight cast in this pic whose Oscar-friendly subject matter may allow it to fly under the Academy's expanded Best Picture tent.

Opens in limited release.
