Three years after ending its run on Syfy, the supernatural Western action-adventure series is returning with a sequel to most of the original cast and a new and exciting villain. Directed by Paolo Barzman, from a screenplay co-written by Emily Andras and Beau Smith, and while for all intents and purposes, it is a standalone film, there are some talks of rebooting the series.

Wynonna Earp: Vengeance follows the story of Wynonna as she is continues her work on the road with the help of Doc Holliday but she soon has to return to Purgatory after getting an ominous call to fight against a psychotic seductress who is out for revenge against Wynonna and everyone she loves.

Wynonna Earp showrunner Emily Andras opens up about her hopes for the series' future on streaming.

Speaking to Collider, Andras was asked about the extra emphasis on sexuality and adult themes that were present in the recently released Wynonna Earp: Vengeance special, which premiered exclusively on Tubi. "Tubi was amazing," Andras said. "They were like, 'No rules. You can push the sexuality. You can definitely push the language.' The name of the game was elevation. Nearly three years after concluding its run on Syfy, cult favorite Wynonna Earp is returning for a 90-minute scripted special on Fox’s ad-supported streamer Tubi. The one-off is expected to air late this year according to Vanity Fair, which was first to break news of the project dubbed Vengeance.

Sad news for Earpers. The cult favorite, supernatural Western series Wynonna Earp is coming to an end. Syfy just announced that the hugely popular series based on the Idw comic created by Beau Smith will conclude its run at the end of the current fourth season.

The remaining six episodes are set to return Friday, March 5 at 10 pm Et/Pt, culminating with the series finale on Friday, April 9 at 10 pm Et/Pt.

The Alberta-lensed supernatural TV series "Wynonna Earp", based on the Idw comic book series by Beau Smith, starring Melanie Scrofano, as the grand-daughter of 'Wyatt Earp', has been renewed for a fourth season, according to Idw Entertainment, SEVEN24 Films and Space, with 12 new episodes starting late 2019, targeting a summer 2020 premier on Syfy:

Since it premiered on SyFy in 2016, Wynonna Earp has routinely been one of the most innovative and most inclusive supernaturally themed series on television. Based on the Image and Idw comic book series by author Beau Smith, Wynonna Earp follows the titular character, a descendant of the legendary gunslinging hero Wyatt Earp, as she goes about ridding her hometown of Purgatory of the various demons and revenants that live there.

Thanks to their ponying up more money for the much-beloved Wynonna Earp, it will rise again!

That's right, the Emily Andras favorite that has spawned Earpers all over the world is now set for a 2020 debut.

The production for Wynonna Earp Season 4 was supposed to start months ago, but a hiccup in the funding from producers Idw Entertainment nearly forced the end of the series.

The delay means they have to round up the cast again for new deals, as their options expired during the downtime.

Happy! and Deadly Class Canceled at Syfy

Given the talent involved and their love for the western-themed supernatural show, I have faith they'll all find a way to get back to business.

If you're wondering why Syfy didn't just forge ahead with the production finances be damned, well, they don't own the rights to the franchise.

Fans of Wynonna Earp were disheartened to learn that funding for a fourth season was not available earlier this year. It looked like the series would not be coming back, but it has just been announced that Idw, SEVEN24 Films, Space, and Syfy have greenlit a new season that will debut in Summer 2020:

Los Angeles, CA – July 2, 2019 – Idw Entertainment, SEVEN24 Films, Space and Syfy announced today that “Wynonna Earp,” the award-winning series based on the Idw comic created by Beau Smith, has been greenlit to start production for its fourth season. With production slated to begin later this year, Season 4 is expected to debut in Summer 2020 on Syfy in the Us and Space in Canada. Additionally, Idw Entertainment announced that Cineflix Studios has come aboard to co-produce with Cineflix Rights handling international sales for all four seasons of the series.

“Wynonna Earp” fans can breathe easy.

Variety has learned that production on the show’s fourth season is set to begin with the premiere slated for summer 2020. Syfy had previously commissioned two more seasons of the Canadian import, but Idw Entertainment — which produces the show — had run into financial difficulties and was unable to begin shooting. Cineflix Studios has come aboard to co-produce with Cineflix Rights handling international sales for all four seasons of the series. Idw and SEVEN24 Films continue to produce.

The series airs on Syfy in the U.S. and Space in Canada. The first two seasons are also available on Netflix. The series is based on the Idw Publishing comic book series of the same name created by Beau Smith.

“Syfy has never wavered in its support of ‘Wynonna Earp,’ a unique and important series with some of the most passionate fans anywhere,” Syfy said in a statement.

The Wynonna Earp fandom can finally rejoice. There will be a fourth season of the popular series based on the Idw comic created by Beau Smith. Idw Entertainment, in partnership with Syfy, Space and Seven24 Films, said today that production on Season 4 is scheduled to begin later this year for premiere in summer 2020 on Syfy in the U.S. and Space in Canada. That will make for a two-year gap between seasons 3 and 4.

The fourth season of Wynonna Earp was delayed by issues with funding at Idw, which earlier in the year said that it was in danger of losing money on the show. Some of the difficulties stemmed from the series losing its international distribution deal with Netflix after the first two seasons.

One of Syfy’s series with most devoted following, Wynonna Earp, appears to be in danger despite the July announcement at Comic-Con that it has been renewed by the NBCU cable network for a fourth season.

The series’ fandom was whipped into a frenzy over the last 24-hours after Melanie Scrofano, who plays the title role, replied to a fan question on Twitter that the show was not filming at the moment and they had not been a reason why, indicating that Wynonna Earp should’ve been in production.

Meanwhile, in a since-deleted tweet from Wynonna Earp exec producer/showrunner Emily Andras, sited by comicbook.com, she asked fans if they were ready to fight for the show before tweeting, “don’t f–k with my family.”

After production delays stemming from funding issues, Wynonna Earp Season 4 has set a production start date!

It's happening, Earpers! It's been an emotional roller coaster, but Wynonna Earp Season 4 is officially back on, with production slated to begin later this year.

Idw Entertainment made the announcement today that the Syfy show was moving ahead with production after funding issues on Idw's part had previously delayed a production start and left the future of Wynonna Earp uncertain for its passionate fanbase.
