Ametra Self is a Chicago Native born and raised on the south side of Chicago in the Pill Hill community. Ametra attended Chicago Vocational High School and graduated in 1985. During her time spent at CVS, Ametra's favorite class was Drama. Since the age of 4, her desire was to become a Writer, News Anchor or an Actress. She attended Chicago State University and later decided to enroll in Television Production. She attended Chicago Access Network Television Studios and became a Certified TV Producer in July 1997. Ametra began producing local cable television shows. Her most known series titled SINGLE PARENT..
In 2007, Ametra was granted an opportunity to work as an Intern on a movie Executive Produced by Robert Townsend. The movie co-starred Angela Bassett, Victoria Rowell, Faizon and Bobby J. Working on this production inspired and taught Ametra the ropes of producing a successful Independent Film. In 2008, she wrote and directed a feature length movie IT TAKES A VILLAGE. Buzz about the movie spread fast in the Chicago area, the owners of the ICE Cinema Theater in Chicago requested to screen the movie during its annual Community Day event. Ametra was also able to screen the movie the night before to a sold out crowd.
Ametra has also produced feature length movies including AJAYLA The Nubian Princess (2009), Battered Clergy (2010) Cyber Hoax (2011) Love Story (2014), There's Hope (2015) and her most recent movie currently in Post-Production title DOUBLE FATAL. Ametra has also produced recent cable televisions series, Elevate, The Exchange and The Moopy Show. The Exchange aired in Chicago, Atlanta and currently airing in New York City. Ametra is currently writing for a new episodic set to air on WGN television in Chicago title Consenting Adults.
Ametra is also a Playwright. She wrote, produced and directed an original musical stage play PINK PRINCESS. Ametra partnered with her team and together, they wrote the musical. The musical has been successful thus far, with a total of 4 shows performed live on stage. Ametra is a Published Author of the novel Clean Heart and has also broadcast live on 102.3 FM Rejoice Radio in Chicago.
Ametra's next production is the movie adaption based on her novel Clean Heart. The movie is scheduled to film in 2019.
