Indie Spotlight
We return with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes details on a Wes Craven art exhibition, the first sighting of Megafoot, a 100 zombie films graphical print, first photos from Australian Horror film, Barrow, an interview with actor, writer, and filmmaker Sean Stone, and much more:

The Horror Legacy of Wes Craven Exhibit Details: “Wes Craven has been feeding our collective horror consciousness since 1972, when his first feature, “The Last House on the Left,” debuted. That film was gritty, raw and terrifying, it still causes a guttural reaction some 40 years later. In his career, Wes has created some of the most memorable moments in horror cinema, from the torture scene in “The Serpent and the Rainbow,” to the Johnny Depp’s explosive scene in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” to the first glimpse of Michael Berryman’s savagery in “The Hills Have Eyes.

Villanelle (2012)
Movie Review: Villanelle
Villanelle (2012)
Release Date: (Streaming) 2/28/14

Running Time: 75 minutes

Written By: Rick Laprade

Directed By: Rick Laprade

Starring: Rich Tretheway, Gillian Williams, A.J. Paratore, Ally Tully

If you attend enough small film festivals (which are sadly seeming to disappear these days), you’ll start to notice a trend in fictional films. You have the big boys, larger budgeted though still independent films, usually made for the big enchilada openings and endings; small shorts that are usually whimsical or walk-and-talks; and small budgeted but ambitious films that often revolve around mystery or horror—something to take in between the heart-warmers, shorts, and documentaries.

Although I didn’t see Villanelle at a festival, it has the feel of a low budgeted film you might find there. And that’s not a bad thing at all.

It starts off with the usual elements. A down-and-out detective (Travis Burke, played by Rich Tretheway) is now the cop...

Erebus (2014)
“Erebus” First News and Teaser Poster
Erebus (2014)
After Chillerama got the anthology bus rolling again last year, 2012 looks to be the year of he omnibus genre feature. The latest addition to the production slate is Erebus, the sophomore effort from Cut To The Chase Productions, hot on the heels of their first picture, Villanelle, currently in post. Erebus, starring Michael Berryman, Vanessa Leigh, Maria Natapov, Nicole Trychon, and Ally Tully, sounds like good old fashioned bloody fun. No release date has been announced.

Synopsis (courtesy Cut To The Chase Productions):

“Erebus is an anthology horror film inspired by the well-documented history of supernatural phenomenon in Rhode Island.
