"The project had actually been optioned by MGM as a TV show,” says Cunningham. “But restructuring at the studio sent it into turn-around. So, now, we’re going straight to the fans.”

Budweiser Strikes Again With 'Puppy Love'. Super Bowl Commercial
Budweiser’s newest Clydesdale Super Bowl commercial – titled “Puppy Love” – features the unlikely friendship between a puppy and a Clydesdale.

The minute-long ad shows the yellow Labrador Retriever puppy escaping from its adoption center to hang out with a Clydesdale at an adjacent farm. No matter how many times the puppy gets brought back home by the head of the horse famer (Don Jeanes), it finds it way back to its equine bud.

When the owner of the puppy adoption center (Melissa Keller) finds a new home for the pup and sends him on his way, the Clydesdale springs into action. Leaping over white fences, the horse bounds towards the car – and with the help of his fellow Clydesdales – returns his pal to the farm.

The emotional commercial is set to the sounds of Passenger’s “Let Her Go.”

Last year, Budweiser ran a similar commercial called “Brotherhood,” which showcased...

Man on the Moon: Remembering Neil Armstrong
This past Saturday, Neil Armstrong passed away at the age of 82. Armstrong, the first human to walk upon the surface of the moon, is synonymous with the era of American excellence that culminated in his extraterrestrial heroics. His likeness and words (you know the quote) will live on through those who knew this extraordinary man personally and through the media that he reluctantly - but graciously - tolerated. Armstrong has been featured in well-respected projects such as Apollo 13 (played by Mark Wheeler) and the hit HBO mini-series From the Earth to the Moon (played by Tony Goldwyn), and he has achieved pop culture status through the use of his name/likeness (surely unauthorized) for minor characters in two recent mega-blockbusters: Transformers: Dark of the Moon (played by Don Jeanes) and Men in Black 3 (played by Jared Johnston). How is that for immortality? In Neil Armstrong's honor, and...

Don Jeanes is a true Hollywood rising star, as he is set to star in three Sci-Fi projects including the highly-anticipated Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, the hit web series “Alpha Planet” and the upcoming SyFy Channel film The Ascension. In this 3D installment of Transformers, The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.

I talk to Jeanes about his role in what I, Brian Shirley consider is the epic "Robots in Disguise" installment from Michael Bay,...

‘Alpha Planet’ Blasts Off on KoldCast
Tuesday marked the launch of indie drama Alpha Planet, a science fiction web series taking place on a post-apocalyptic earth 250 years in the future. With the entire human civilization living on a refugee ship for 200 years, supplies are running short. Four explorers (Michael Sweeney, Don Jeanes, Jd Mendonca, and Jen Sweeney) are sent back to Earth in search for signs of new life. The series logline, “They know the risks, but not the truth,” suggests a high-stakes conspiracy that involves the fate of humanity itself. Executive produced by Mike Darling, head of Rena’sance Robot, an independent production company that produces low-budget short films, sketches and web series, Alpha Planet looks like a cross between Brett Register’s The Crew and After Judgment, with a dash of Battlestar Galactica.
