Newfest Sets Spring Lineup For Screening And Talkback Series Newfest Presents

NewFest, New York’s LGBTQ+ film and media organization, on Friday unveiled the spring lineup for “NewFest Presents,” its monthly screening series taking place in-person at The LGBT Community Center in NYC, and streaming virtually through NewFest’s Virtual Screening Room nationwide. The announcement was made today by NewFest’s executive director David Hatkoff and director of programming Nick McCarthy.

NewFest Presents will showcase three new feature films from February through April 2022, with talent joining for in-person screenings. The films are Michiel Thomas’ true crime documentary Gemmel & Tim, exploring the lives and untimely passing of two gay Black men and the impact this had on the LGBTQ+ community; Nicola Mai’s narrative and documentary hybrid feature Caer, exploring the epidemics of U.S. incarceration and deportation, and making room for the women at the center of the violence to tell their own...

Sheffield Doc/Fest 2021 programme includes world premiere of Steve McQueen’s ‘Uprising’

The festival will take place in Sheffield, across the UK, and online.

The programme for the 28th edition of Sheffield Doc/Fest includes the world premiere of the first episode of Uprising, a three-part documentary series from UK filmmakers Steve McQueen and James Rogan.

Doc/Fest 2021 will play 55 world premieres and 22 international premieres, for the event running in Sheffield, across the UK and online from June 4-13.

Outfest Fusion Qtbipoc Film Festival Unveils Lineup For Hybrid Event

Los Angeles-based Lgbtqia+ organization Outfest is set to empower even more queer storytellers wtih the 2021 Outfest Fusion Qtbipoc Film Festival. The hybrid fest will take place April 16-20.

This year’s fest will include 10 feature films, 41 short films, a One-Minute Movie Contest, two drive-in experiences at Exposition Park, and a dozen workshops and panels which will be open to the public.

Now in its 18th year, Outfest Fusion showcases the work of queer and trans filmmakers of color, providing the audiences and storytellers with the critical visibility that is needed to build careers, opportunities, and empathy for Lgbtqia+ stories.
