Back in 2014, we all got to see what it would look like if Matt Damon became stranded on a distant planet when the "Bourne Identity" star had a cameo in Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar." Damon actually played the villain in that brief appearance, but it turned out that was just a way to whet our appetite for more Damon space survivalism -- as just a year later, we'd once again see him trapped on an alien world, and this time he was very much the good guy.
Ridley Scott's 2015 science-fiction thriller "The Martian" saw Damon play Dr. Mark Watney, a NASA astronaut and botanist who ends up stranded on Mars after a dust storm forces his crew to make a hasty evacuation, leaving him behind. "The Martian" then tells a thrilling survival tale of human ingenuity and perseverance, with Watkins having to keep himself alive for four years before...

The Martian was a 2015 science fiction drama starring Matt Damon, based on the novel by Andy Weir. It told the story of Mark Watney, an astronaut on an expedition to Mars in the year 2035. After a severe sandstorm, Mark's fellow astronauts mistakenly believed that he was dead and left the planet without him.
When Mark awoke, he needed to find a way to survive in the barren Martian desert long enough for help to arrive. Based on this description, The Martian seems about as far away as possible from a high fantasy story like The Lord of the Rings, yet there is a connection between the two. Both Weir's novel and its film adaptation included an important scene that revolved around a reference to J. R. R. Tolkien's seminal work.

Zac Efron's jaw surgery was actually due to an injury from a household accident, not plastic surgery. On his trip to Australia during Covid-19, Efron's jaw grew due to compensating masseter muscles. Efron also had another accident in 2024 when he dove into a shallow pool, but he was medically cleared in a few hours.
People may have noticed that something happened to Zac Efron that has altered the way his face looks, and many have speculated about what happened. Zac Efron has come a long way since his starring role in the High School Musical movie franchise, and it hasn't always been clear what direction he wants to take his career. He's starred in romantic comedies, summer action flicks, animated movies, and more. Though he's never found one single path, his visage has always been a constant in popular culture.

Zac Efron's improvised "whoo-ah" chant annoyed Seth Rogen in Neighbors, making his reaction genuine. The film's memorable jokes and chemistry between leads contributed to its critical and financial success. A potential third movie in the franchise could include more improvised jokes, continuing the comedic elements of the original.
Zac Efron has revealed the unscripted joke that annoyed Seth Rogen in the duo's 2014 comedy Neighbors, explaining how the actor's response to it was genuine. The film focuses on new parents Mac (Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) moving to a new neighborhood, only for the party-loving Delta Psi Beta fraternity to move in next door, led by Teddy Sanders (Efron). The movie has plenty of memorable jokes throughout, helping the suburban satire film achieve critical success during its initial time in theaters.

"A Family Affair" is a 2024 romantic comedy film on Netflix that features an all-star cast. The movie stars Zac Efron as Chris Cole, a famous movie star who begins dating his assistant's older mother, Brooke, played by Nicole Kidman. Other cast members include Joey King, Liza Koshy, Kathy Bates, and Shirley MacLaine.
The renaissance of the modern rom-com continues with Netflix's A Family Affair, which features an impressive cast of notable actors and actresses such as Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman. The 2024 romantic comedy film, directed by Richard Lagravenese and written by Carrie Solomon, chronicles the story of a young woman (Joey King) whose mother (Kidman) enters a relationship with her boss (Efron), much to her dismay. Unfortunately, as teased in the trailer for A Family Affair, King's character learns of the scandalous (which is only so due to the couple's age gap) affair when she walks in on them about to have sex.

"Ricky Stanicky" features a star-studded cast including Zac Efron, John Cena, and William H. Macy in a hilarious high-concept comedy. The script for "Ricky Stanicky" spent years in development before Peter Farrelly turned it into a movie with a very different cast. Jermaine Fowler, Andrew Santino, and Lex Scott Davis also join the talented ensemble in the raucous comedy "Ricky Stanicky."
Peter Farrelly's raucous new comedy Ricky Stanicky has a star-studded cast that includes such iconic actors as Zac Efron, William H. Macy, and John Cena in the title role. Ricky Stanicky revolves around three lifelong friends who have made up a fictional fourth friend named Ricky Stanicky to get them out of trouble with their wives. Mark Watney had to survive on Mars in The Martian (2015) for several days. Based on Andy Weir’s The Martian novel, Ridley Scott’s The Martian starred Matt Damon as Mark Watney. Set in a future where humans are beginning to colonize Mars, The Martian saw Mark Watney use every resource at his disposal to survive by himself and eventually return home.
Part of what makes The Martian one of the best Ridley Scott sci-fi movies is how Mark had to calculate every decision he made on Mars. Having to grow his own food and produce his own water, Mark could not miscalculate any move. Mark’s survival plan was based on waiting for the Ares IV mission to arrive on Mars and rescue him.

Science fiction films require attention to detail from both the audience and the filmmakers. The best sci-fi movies of all time — such as "2001: A Space Odyssey," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Blade Runner," or "The Matrix" — are so packed with details that you can rewatch them over and over again, discovering new things each time. Some franchises with extensively expanded universes have deepened our understanding of what's going on in the background. Even if they're only on screen for a few moments, the characters in the Mos Eisley cantina in the original "Star Wars" each have fictional backstories within the spinoff novels and comic books. In the age of social media, sci-fi movie buffs are more active than ever in scouring their favorite films for hidden easter eggs. It's interesting to read the theories that some fans come up with, as some may seem plausible while others are completely ridiculous.
