Its very exciting. I dont think its quite hit me until now, just how exciting it is that hes portraying, you know, Gandalf, Kavenagh said. And the fact that I can even say that, because obviously, its something thats been kind of a secret for so long. So yeah, it feels really surreal, she said.

The biggest mystery in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 was the identity of Sauron. An early contender was Daniel Weyman's character The Stranger. He -- along with Markella Kavenagh's Elanor "Nori" Brandyfoot and Megan Richards' Poppy Proudfellow -- explored the dangers of magic throughout the first season. Though The Stranger was not Sauron, there was more than enough mystery around him to keep all three characters guessing.
At season's end, Nori went off adventuring with The Stranger to learn more about his actual identity, as it was heavily implied that he's Gandalf the Grey, but where does that take them in Season 2? Cbr sat down with Weyman, Kavenagh, and Richards to talk more about the journeys of The Stranger, Nori, and Poppy in The Rings of Power Season 2. Weyman also discusses all those fan theories...

Daniel Weyman cant shake the character of Gandalf from his mind. Thats because ever since the British actor burst onto the scene as The Stranger in Prime Videos mega-hit, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the buzz has been building that the character could very well be Gandalf himself, who was played by the venerable Ian McKellen in The Lord of the Rings films.
In a recent interview with MovieWeb about the highly anticipated second season of the series, which debuts on August 29, Weyman was candid about the possibility he could, in fact, be playing Gandalf, noting:
I'm really enjoying playing this character from almost his birth in Middle-earth. I feel like it doesn't really matter to me [if hes Gandalf]. I don't think I'm trying to hang out for him to go one way or the other. I love the way that the writing lands me as an actor in a present situation,...
