The Goldbergs got its happy ending Wednesday by wrapping up 10 years on ABC with a possible new relationship for Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey), a secret marriage for Barry (Troy Gentile) and a ride in a fancy DeLorean for Adam (Sean Giambrone).

The episode titled “Bev to the Future” began with a family screening of Back to the Future before the discussion turned to the possibility of turning back the clock and reliving old glory days. Beverly had the perfect opportunity to do just that by attending a high school reunion with Adam as her reluctant “date.”

But Beverly soon realizes that Adam is nothing more than an inconvenient third wheel because she runs into George (Rob Corddry), an old flame from high school who she dated before marrying Murray.

Mayim Bialik will be the first guest host for “Jeopardy!” following Mike Richards’ one-day tenure as Alex Trebek’s successor.

Bialik, who was named the host of the game show’s primetime specials and spinoffs, will tape three weeks worth of episodes, Sony Pictures TV said on Monday.

CNN first reported that Bialik was going to host this week, adding that the “Call Me Kat” star is being considered for the permanent role. A rep for Sony declined to comment on if she was being considered.

Richards stepped down as permanent host of the syndicated Sony quiz show on Friday, the day after it returned to production with Richards behind the podium. Richards taped five episodes Thursday, which will all air.

The behind-the-scenes saga has already distracted fans, though, with one Twitter user wondering how “Jeopardy!” of all shows came to fill the drama void left by “Game of Thrones.”

Richards will remain as executive producer and the show will return to its short-term guest hosts until a permanent one is chosen.

Tweeting a link to the Washington Post’s coverage of Richards’ resurfaced remarks, the Adl published the following statement Thursday:

Newly named “Jeopardy!” host Mike Richards has once again been forced to answer for past offensive comments as controversy over his recent appointment continues.

On Wednesday, The Ringer reported on the existence of “The Randumb Show,” Richards’ 2013 podcast in which he “repeatedly used offensive language and disparaged women’s bodies.” The podcast, recorded during his time as executive producer on “The Price Is Right,” was co-hosted by Richards and his former assistant Beth Triffon and ran for 41 episodes.

According to The Ringer, Richards repeatedly made sexist and objectifying comments toward Triffon and other women. In one instance cited, Richards mocked Triffon for collecting unemployment benefits, asking her “Do you feel dirty?” In another, he mocked a photo of her and her friends in swimsuits, saying they “look really frumpy and overweight.”

George Segal’s final episode of “The Goldbergs” aired Wednesday night, followed by a short tribute to the late actor, who co-starred on the ABC comedy for the last eight seasons.

The 45-second compilation of some of Segal’s memorable scenes from the show was accompanied by the message, “We will miss you, George.” Segal died last month at the age of 87 due to complications from bypass surgery.

Segal was a series regular on “The Goldbergs” since its debut in 2013, playing Albert “Pops” Solomon, the Goldberg family’s eccentric but lovable grandfather. He starred alongside Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, Sam Lerner and Jeff Garlin.

The Sony-produced series previously honored Segal with a card at the end of the March 24 episode, and the show’s producers released a statement at the time remembering the actor as “kind, sweet, beyond talented and funny.”

Founded in 2016, the lab is a five-week intensive scriptwriters program that prepares Native Americans for writing careers at major television networks.

Joshua Malina (Scandal) and Beth Triffon (Ten Days in the Valley) have joined the casts of Showtime’s Shameless and ABC’s The Goldbergs, respectively, in recurring roles. Both initially signed for one-episode guest shots, which have already aired. Both were received well and ultimately turned into sizeable guest arcs.

Malina recurs as Arthur Trilling on the eleventh and final season of Shameless. Arthur is a longtime Chicago cop who stays safe on the job by refusing to leave his squad car. Then he is assigned Carl Gallagher as his junior partner and that changed everything.

Starring William H. Macy, the final season of Shameless finds the Gallagher family and the South Side at a crossroads, with changes caused by the Covid pandemic, gentrification and aging to reconcile.

U.S network ABC is doubling down its search for British on-screen stars as it reopens its digital talent competition.

The Disney-owned broadcaster has lined up the second iteration of its ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition. This comes after Wonder Women star Jemma Moore, who is set to star in Universal’s 2019 feature Doom, won the competition last year. The winner receives a one-year $25,000 talent deal with the Grey’s Anatomy and Black-ish broadcaster.

The winner of the scheme, which runs from September 10 through September 24, will be announced on November 14. It will be overseen by Kate Dowd in the U.K., and casting directors Jennifer Treadwell and Monica Kelly in the U.S. The site will offer advice from the likes of Ayo Davis, senior vice president, Talent and Casting, ABC Entertainment, Quantico and Code Black exec producer Michael Seitzman as well as stars such as Priyanka Chopra, Blair Underwood and Marlee Matlin.
