Exclusive: Incredible Film has boarded sales on Cannes-set Rom-Com Out of Luck (Dubbel Zes) for an international launch at the Marché du Film in May.

The Dutch-language comedy stars Dutch actress Abbey Hoes (The Hitman’s Bodyguard), opposite Ryan Brown and pop star and actor Jim Bakkum, as spoilt heiress Annabel who loses her fortune, home and relationship in one disastrous night, which ends in a jail cell.

After reaching rock bottom, Annabel realizes it’s time to get her life together. But torn between two men, two identities and numerous lies, this may be easier said than done. Part of the story unfolds against the backdrop of the Cannes Film Festival

The comedy, directed by Jonathan Elbers (The Club Of Ugly Children) and produced by Dutch FilmWorks, released in the Netherlands on April 3where it has grossed just over $900K to date.

‘The White Lotus’ Breakout Star Leo Woodall Wraps Continent-Hopping Indie Film ‘Nomad’ (Exclusive)

Production has wrapped on Txl Films’ “Nomad,” featuring Leo Woodall, breakout star of HBO’s Emmy-winning series “The White Lotus,” and Sana’a Shaik (“2067”).

The film tells the story of a mysterious loner (Woodall) with a bizarre condition that takes him inexplicably to the ends of the earth. When he crosses paths with a stifled city girl (Shaik), they are plunged into a fight for survival that takes them across every continent.

“Nomad” is from writer-director Taron Lexton, known for “In Search of Fellini” (2017). The film is unique in that it is one of the few films that shot across all seven continents, like Jacques Perrin, Jacques Cluzaud and Michel Debats’ Oscar nominated documentary “Winged Migration” (2001).

Lexton filmed “Nomad” entirely on location across 26 countries, with its two lead actors and a traveling crew of just eight. The project was filmed in Imax on Arri cameras and lenses with no green screen,...

‘Costa!!,’ ‘Yasmine’s Wedding’ Added to Dfw International’s Cannes Market Slate (Exclusive)

Netherlands-based sales agent Dfw International has added romantic comedy “Costa!!” by Jon Karthaus, a follow-up to the 2001 Dutch cult classic “Costa!” by Johan Nijenhuis, to its Cannes Film Market slate.

Nijenhuis’ latest film “Yasmine’s Wedding” has also been added to the slate.

In “Costa!!” Anna (Abbey Hoes) and her best friend Bibi (Stephanie van Eer) travel to the Spanish coast to visit the famous Costa club where her mother Frida (Katja Schuurman) used to work only to find that it is no longer the place to be, but a run-down karaoke bar. Anna and her friends go all-out to win the battle of the bars and make Costa once again the hottest club on the strip. “Costa!!,” produced by Sabine Brian for Nl Film, was released in the Netherlands on April 28 and has racked up 100,000 admissions.

Dutch Features Picks Up Romantic Comedy ‘Cuban Love’

Dutch Features, one of Holland’s leading sales agencies, has acquired the cross-cultural romantic comedy “Cuban Love” directed by Johan Nijenhuis (“Tuscan Wedding”) ahead of the European Film Market.

“Cuban Live” is headlined by Susan Visser, who won the Efp Shooting Star at the Berlin Film Festival in 2015. Set to open in the Netherlands on Valentines Day, “Cuban Love” tells the story of a divorcee, Loes, (Susan Visser) who has lost all faith in love and has to travel to Cuba to prevent her daughter Maartje (Abbey Hoes) from marrying a Cuban citizen (Rolf Sanchez). Once in Cuba, Loes finds herself learning more about love and romance than she had ever expected.

Dutch Feature has also come on board Norbert ter Hall’s “Promise of Pisa,” a coming-of-age drama which is currently in-production. The company will be showing a first promo of the movie during the European Film Market.

LevelK has acquired world sales rights to the Dutch thriller Vicious.

Dennis Bots directs the film, which is based on a bestselling novel by Mel Wallis De Vries, adapted by Alexandra Penrhyn Lowe.

The story is about four high school girls who go for a relaxing weekend at a remote cottage in the Ardennes. Their stay becomes a living hell after a series of weird and disturbing events.

10 European actors to be celebrated by Efp in Berlin.

The UK’s Maisie Williams and Denmark’s Joachim Fjelstrup are among ten European acting talents to watch who have been selected for the line-up of European Film Promotion’s (Efp) Shooting Stars showcase at the 65th Berlinale (Feb 5-15).

An international jury of film professionals comprising Slovenian producer Danijel Hocevar, Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska, Swedish actress Eva Röse, UK film journalist Damon Wise, and French casting director Nathalie Cheron made its selection of six actresses and four actors from 23 nominations submitted by Efp member organisations.

The line-up for the 18th edition of Shooting Stars - with their nominated films - is as follows:

- Denmark: Joachim Fjelstrup (Itsi Bitsi)

- Finland: Emmi Parviainen (The Princess Of Egypt)
