The next Star Wars film that is set to be released is Gareth Edward's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and it comes out later this year! I'm super excited about this one because it's a heist film that revolves around a team of resistance fighters who band together to steal the plans to the Empire's Death Star. There's still a lot we don't know about this movie, but Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy previously said:

“Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to theStar Wars universe. It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him...

Very little is know about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as of right now, other than the fact Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards is directing from a script by Gary Whitta, Chris Weitz, and possibly Christopher McQuarrie, if reports of him offering a few touch ups are accurate. The cast, meanwhile, is made up of names like Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Forest Whitaker and Riz Ahmed.

While past rumours have pointed to the story following a team of Rebels who set out to steal the plans of the first Death Star, we may now know who Jones is going to be playing in Rogue One.
