The viral sequel for “Five Nights at Freddy’s” could be titled….10 nights at Freddy’s? But alas, it’s “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” with the original cast of Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard all returning for more mayhem at the paws of Freddy Fazbear.
Hutcherson is back as Mike, the security guard who was trapped in a literal dead-end job at a Chuck E. Cheese-esque arcade and restaurant with five haunted animatronics, including Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Rabbit, Foxy the Pirate, Chica the Chicken, and Carl the Cupcake. After he’s forced to bring his 10-year-old sister Abby (Rubio) along for the night shift, Mike has to survive the evening with the help of cop Vanessa (Lail).
“Five Nights at Freddy’s” was a box-office hit in 2023, grossing $297.2 million on a $20 million budget. It was released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming service Peacock. This time however,...

Turn on the security cameras, because Freddy Fazbear is on the loose again. “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” one of 2023’s most unexpected box-office sensation, is getting a sequel from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse.
Jim Orr, Universal Pictures President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution, announced the news on Wednesday, during the company’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. No other news about the film — such as a release window, creative team, or cast — was unveiled.
The announcement comes six months after “Five Nights at Freddy’s” became a hit at the October box office, where it grossed $297.2 million on a mere $20 million budget. A sequel film was probably greenlit by Act 3 of the first one.
The success of the film, an adaptation of the viral indie horror video game franchise by Scott Cawthon, was especially impressive given Universal’s decision to release it simultaneously in theaters and on the streaming service Peacock. The...

Blumhouse Productions has been one of the biggest names in horror for several years now, putting out movies like The Invisible Man, The Black Phone, M3GAN, the recent Halloween sequel trilogy, and the Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Purge franchises, among many others. October 6th saw the theatrical release of their Exorcist sequel The Exorcist: Believer, which is meant to be the first entry in a trilogy… and the poor reception that movie got from movie-goers and critics alike wasn’t exactly what Universal and Peacock were hoping for when they forked over around $400 million for the rights to distribute that trilogy. But Blumhouse’s luck turned around three weeks later. That’s when their video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s (read our review Here) reached theatres – and that movie has officially become their highest-grossing production!

Five Nights at Freddy's is a basic horror film adaptation of the popular video game, with a simple story and lukewarm jumpscares. The film focuses on the relationship between the protagonist, Mike, and his sister Abby, while exploring the theme of letting go of past trauma. While not a great horror film, Five Nights at Freddy's has heart, some mystery, and can be enjoyable if expectations aren't too high.

Kids are generally smarter than we give them credit for. For the most part, they're curious, open-minded, and understand the most fundamental truth about the world far better than adults do: that life simply makes more sense through the prism of dream logic. For every children's movie that gets this right, it feels like there are a half-dozen more that fatally underestimate their own intended audience. "Five Nights at Freddy's" can safely count itself among those in the former category, thankfully, and it weaponizes this strength to deliver the year's most charming and unabashedly kid-friendly horror flick just in time for spooky season.
Director Emma Tammi clearly recognizes the appeal of adapting a property with the unique sensibilities and labyrinthine lore dictated by this film's source material, a video game franchise that can only be generously described as "idiosyncratic." Still, the basics have been streamlined enough for even the most casual viewer to grasp.

Collaboration with Scott Cawthon was key in incorporating Easter eggs into Five Nights At Freddy's movie, with department heads also involved in the process. The movie aims to capture both the childlike wonderment and the terrifying elements of the game, focusing on the character of Abby and her perspective. While staying true to the game's creepy atmosphere, the film also adds more character-focused arcs to bring dimension to the story, particularly with Mike and Abby.
Based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, Five Nights At Freddy's focuses on Mike Schmidt and his younger sister Abby. Mike has a hard time holding down a job as he attempts to raise Abby on his own until he is offered an interesting job opportunity: night security at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The upcoming Five Nights At Freddy's movie will be edgy and original, offering a unique take on the superhero genre compared to other films. The movie aims to stay true to the fans of the game, focusing on creating a movie specifically for them, while still welcoming new viewers. Jason Blum suggests that in a fight between Freddy and M3GAN, the possessed robot from another Blumhouse film, M3GAN might have the upper hand.
Adapted from the extremely popular video game of the same name, Five Nights At Freddy's follows Mike Schmidt. Mike is struggling to hold down a job and raise his younger sister when he is offered the night security job at the long-abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Mike's time at Freddy's goes from strange to terrifying as he learns the horrifying truth about Freddy Fazbera's Pizzeria and why it was shut down.

On the eve of Horror Channel’s UK TV premiere of Patchwork, director Tyler MacIntyre reflects on body image issues. twisting audience expections and his admiration for current female genre directors.
Patchwork finally gets its UK TV premiere on Horror Channel. Excited or what?
Relieved actually. It’s been a long time coming. The third screening of the film ever happened at FrightFest in Glasgow and since then I’ve had people asking me when it was going to come out. The UK genre fans are among the most diehard in the world, so I’m very excited to finally have it available for them.

Look, I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn when I say that 2017 was a garbage year for a lot of people, but it’s important to note that periods of turmoil often produce meaningful horror movies. For what it’s worth, it looks like 2017 has done just that, with a myriad of terrific movies from a variety of sources. So, without further ado, here are some of my horror highlights from the last 12 months:
It: I’m going to get this one out of the way early, not because I didn’t love it, but because I’m sure it’s on a lot of people’s lists, and you’ve already heard a ton about it. The huge hype over It actually kept me from watching it at first, as I have that rare disease that repels me from things that a bunch of people enjoy.
