On Thursday, Catfish: The TV Show co-host Kamie Crawford announced her exit from the MTV reality series with a statement on social media, nearly six years after tracking down her first ‘catfish’ with Schulman.

Catfish: The TV Show is based on a 2010 movie of the same name. Both the movie and the show center on the world of online dating. The documentary follows Nev Schulman as he discovers that he has been the victim of a catfish — a.k.a. someone pretending to be someone else online.

The reality show, much like the documentary, follows real people as they work to figure out if the person they’ve been talking to online is fact or fiction. Schulman serves as the host alongside Max Joseph.

Max Joseph, who co-hosted the first seven seasons of the MTV documentary series with Nev Schulman from 2012 to 2018, is hinting that a return to the show is on the table. Exclusive: Kamie Crawford, the co-host of MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show, has signed with UTA.

The agency has signed Crawford for worldwide representation in all areas. It comes ahead of the premiere of the remotely-produced season of the non-scripted series, which returns to MTV on Wednesday August 5.

Crawford joined the show in 2018 as one of a number of guest hosts alongside Nev Schulman, whose movie the TV series is based, following the departure of Max Joseph. This year, she stepped up to the role full-time and co-hosted the first half of the show’s eighth season, which debuted earlier this year.

The second half of the season, which is produced by Critical Content and Catfish Picture Company, features episodes shot remotely.

Elsewhere, Crawford, who was Miss Teen USA in 2010, has created content for brands including Swarovski, Lancôme and Dove.

She continues to be represented by attorney Ashley Silver at Bfbst Law.

A+E Networks has signed a first-look production agreement with Ozy Media, a onetime magazine brand that has tech backing and has evolved into a producer of original series, podcasts and live events.

While no projects were announced along with the news of the partnership, the companies said the multi-platform deal is seen as encompassing multiple projects per year, with many based on stories Ozy turns up.

A+E Networks Group President Paul Buccieri said the arrangement suits the current production boom for the parent company of networks like History, Lifetime and A&e. He described Ozy as emblematic of A+E’s aim to be “in business with great creatives and storytellers, whose work translates across multiple platforms.” The deal, he said, will “super-serve a growing hunger among consumers for fresh and unique perspectives.”

Founded in 2013 by journalist Carlos Watson, who now serves as CEO, Ozy began as a digital magazine.

Netflix pulled out all the stops towards the end of 2019, as the company launched the most robust slate of awards season titles in its brief history. Of course, the Oscar gold rush doesn’t leave the streamer or any of its competitors with much to offer at the start of the new year, and so Netflix’s January is extremely light on original fare.

The former Clinton impeachment figure turned activist will executive produce a documentary called 15 Minutes of Shame along with director Max Joseph (Catfish: The TV Show). Both will also appear on camera as they take an in-depth look at the "public shaming epidemic in our culture" (per a description of the doc) and people's collective need to destroy one another.

As of this morning, Avengers: Endgame tickets are officially on sale, and in a less-than-surprising development, sites like Fandango and AMC are being flooded with fans hoping to book those early seats. In fact, the traffic has got so heavy that a few technical issues have quickly developed.

In Fandango’s case, filmgoers are being put on a very long waiting list, and some have been kicked out of the app while trying to book their seats. It’s probably no coincidence that Tyler Perry chose this week, just days before the release of his latest film, “Nobody’s Fool,” to make the announcement that he is planning to retire Madea, the rowdy, blaring, acid-tongued, tiny-pistol-toting church lady from hell who will dress down anyone under the Atlanta sun who crosses her. The madly exuberant matriarch, who will be making her final screen appearance in 2019, has always been the spark plug — the anarchic TNT — of Perry’s comedies. And that makes you wonder: Will he now be looking for surrogate performers to replace that energy?

Of course he will — and, in fact, he has already found one. In “Nobody’s Fool,” Tiffany Haddish, with her unchecked rage and triumphant lewd abandon, plays the first Tyler Perry character who could stand glare to glare, threat to threat, uncorked insult-from-the-hood to uncorked insult-from-the-hood to Perry’s gale-force grandma in drag.

“I saw Bridesmaids,” says Tiffany Haddish in this new trailer for her Nobody’s Fool – a red-band trailer, by the way, so she’s about to tell us exactly what she intends to do in the frilly dress she’s just tried on.

Executive produced, written and directed by Tyler Perry, Nobody’s Fool stars Haddish as Tanya, just released from prison and, trying to get back on her feet, moving in with her uptight sister Danica (Tika Sumpter).

As would be expected, Tanya upsets her sister’s well-ordered life, a life that includes a mysterious about-to-be husband whom Danica herself as never met. Cue the guys from Catfish.
