What Is Liquid Slam From Every '90s Commerical Ever?
Image
"Every '90s Commercial Ever" is a hilarious parody of over-the-top ads from the 90s, like those for Capri-Sun and SunnyD. Liquid Slam, the fictional drink in the parody, turns kids into silver puddles when they drink it, before turning them into a monstrous creature. The parody highlights the absurdity of these commercials by suggesting the negative consequences of the transformations portrayed in the original ads.

YouTube users in 2015 will remember Liquid Slam as the subject of a bizarre YouTube mock-ad titled "Every '90s Commercial Ever". In February 2015, a two-minute video appeared on YouTube on the RocketJump channel. RocketJump is, in their own words, "...a weird hybrid studio/production company..." (via RocketJump). The group makes a variety of comedy videos for YouTube, social media, and their website, often working with notable personalities who also got their start on YouTube, like voice actor ProZD (SungWon Cho).

The Best Time a Production Team Caught Itself Being Racist — And Fixed It
Freddie Wong
Hulu's "RocketJump: The Show" offers a unique look at the world of film production: Each week, the young team of the RocketJump production company can be seen hard at work creating an original short film, and grappling with the difficulties of, say, working with horses for a "Fast and the Furious"/Western mash-up, or flipping a school bus end over end. For those who love the nitty-gritty of filmmaking, it's a candid look at the process, executed with a lot of humor and heart thanks to the team headed up by YouTube veterans Freddie Wong, Matt Arnold and Desmond Dolly.  Read More: Freddie Wong on the Future of TV, and Other Takeaways From the Set of Hulu's 'RocketJump' This week's episode, though, featured a challenge beyond a sick actor or losing the day's light. "Freddie's Vlog" tracks the production of an elaborate fantasy short starring Wong as "himself," filming his...

RocketJump Comes To China By Dealing With Youku Tudou, The “Chinese YouTube”
RocketJump will soon make its premiere on Hulu, but that’s not the only new platform where Freddie Wong, Matthew Arnold, and Desmond Dolly’s production studio plans to expand. In addition, it has signed a deal with Youku Tudou, a video site sometimes referred to as China’s answer to YouTube.

By the terms of the deal, Youku Tudou will become the first Chinese platform to distribute RocketJump's dazzling productions and will become the studio’s official platform within China. The two partners also plan to collaborate on original content, which will be released on Youku Tudou next year.

“We founded RocketJump for two reasons: to provide quality entertainment, and to reach as many different audiences as possible,” said Wong, who serves as RocketJump's CEO, in a press release. “Youku Tudou gives us the reach into China that we’ve been looking for, and we look forward to sharing...

Freddie Wong May Be The Most Experienced Crowdfunder In Entertainment. Here’s His Advice.
Freddie Wong may very well be the most experienced crowdfunder in the entire entertainment industry. The filmmaker and special effects guru, who also spends a lot of quality time in front of the camera, has helped to raise no less than a cummulative $1,980,210 from 27,180 backers over three campaigns in three years under the banner of his, Matt Arnold, and Desmond Dolly’s production shop RocketJump for consecutive seasons of their hit, long-form, action-gamer-comedy Video Game High School (aka Vghs).

Given that crowdfunding experience (not to mention his experience with cultivating an audience on other platforms, like the 7.5+ million subscribers on the RokcetJump YouTube channel), Wong is the go-to individual within the online video industry when you're thinking about starting a crowdfunding campaign and need advice. The guys at Wong Fu got his help on their successful campaign. And Burnie Burns at Rooster Teeth gives Wong a lot of credit when...

Freddie Wong, ‘Vghs’ Set Web Series Crowdfunding Record At $900,907
Freddie Wong launched the crowdfunding campaign for the third season of Video Game High School under the banner of his, Desmond Dolly, and Matthew Arnold’s RocketJump production studio on January 23, 2014. 30 days later, it broke a record. 10,932 funders contributed an aggregate $900,907 to help make the last six episodes of Vghs a reality. That’s the highest dollar amount raised by a web series via a crowdfunding campaign on any crowdfunding platform to date. RocketJump’s final season of its original series about an elite school for gifted gamers took the Most Well Funded Crowdfunding Campaign For A Web Series, Ever title away from Bee And Puppycat. That campaign was orchestrated by Frederator Studios for an animated series conceived by Adventure Time storyboard artist Natasha Allegri and raised $872,133 from 18,209 backers back in November 2013. Wong and company certainly have a track record of success in their crowdfunding initiatives, but never quite to this scale.
