Edgar Jimz was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico under the name Edgardo M. Jimenez. At the young age of 7, Edgar enrolled in acting classes at his elementary school participating in multiple plays as a member of a community-based Acting Company. At the age of 8, Edgar commenced his musical career as a Clarinet player. He was a member of the Caguas Municipal Band. In 1979, Edgar was a member of the Panamerican Games Marching Band.
Edgar graduated from the Sacred Heart University with a B.A. in Police Science and continued undergraduate studies at the Inter-American Law School of Puerto Rico obtaining a Juris Doctor Degree.
In 1994, Edgar relocated to New York City and in 1997, he joined the New York City Department of Correction. He retired as a member of the Emergency Service Unit (S.W.A.T.) with the rank of Captain in 2017.
In 2008, Edgar re-ignited his acting career with an outstanding year participating in multiple shorts, feature films, and TV Series. Edgar has participated in series like "Law & Order", "All My Children", "The Unusuals" and feature films like "The Taking Of Pelham 123", "Duplicity", "Ten Stories Tall", "Confessions of a Shopaholic", "Salt" and "The Dark Knight Rises".
In 2009, Edgar founded "Screen Working Actors Tactical Specialists, LLC." (S.W.A.T.S. FILMS). The company provides the services of Police S.W.A.T. Team, Police Raid Team, and other police characters at affordable prices for the Independent Film Industry. Its services include all professional props and staff. Edgar's "mission" is to promote the writing of Police Action Films within the Low Budget Industry and to probe that "Yes"; it's possible to produce good police action films with a low budget.
In 2010, S.W.A.T.S. FILMS began producing its own films. Code Name: Operation Black Thunder, action sci-fi, was the first short film produced by Edgar. Code Name: Operation Black Thunder was one of the six finalists at the first Openfilm "Get It Made Contest" sponsored by actor James Caan. As a matter of fact, it was the film that received the more votes from the audiences. In 2011, the company followed with the short film Collateral Package. Collateral Package was a Finalist at the Oscar Qualifying USA Film Festival. In 2012, the company transcended its frontiers and worked with a different genre. The Evil's Gate, a drama-supernatural short film was completed.
In 2014, Edgar returned to his Police Action genre by directing and writing the feature film Dirty Shield. Here, he assumed the roles of director of photography and editor. Dirty Shield achieved worldwide commercial release by Shami Media Group. In 2017, Edgar filmed Hell of a New Year, a short film written by Artemus Cole. Hell of a New Year received a Bronze Remi Award at the WouldFest Houston, a Canadian Screen Award Qualifying Festival.
In 2019, Edgar decided that it was time to let one of his crew members make their own film. Edward V. Turner took on the challenge and Avengement, a police action short film, was born. Avengement achieved several film festival acceptances and awards.
In 2022, Edgar wrote and produced Acerbity, a drama short film. Acerbity achieved several awards and nominations for awards. It also received a Silver Remi Award at the WorldFest Houston.
Now, in 2024, The Petron Exilenis in production. The Petron Exile is a short film by director and writer Artemus Cole. This is a Sci-Film.
