Every Actor Who Appeared In Family Guy Before The Orville
Image
Unsurprisingly, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane's sci-fi comedy-drama The Orville has featured a lot of cast cross-over. It's clear from looking at the cast lists of MacFarlane's movies and TV shows that he has a stable of actors he clearly enjoys working with. This isn't exclusive to Seth MacFarlane of course, as many creatives favor a team of actors and production staff that they've already built strong working relationships with. As The Orville is a passion project for Star Trek fan MacFarlane, it makes perfect sense for him to bring along friends and former colleagues for the ride.

The Orville features a mix of Family Guy regulars in Orville guest spots, and minor Family Guy actors moved up to leading roles on the titular starship. Surprisingly, Charlize Theron appeared in The Orville and MacFarlane's wild west comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, but hasn't yet appeared on Family Guy.

Every Monty Python Movie, Ranked
Image
The famed British comedy troupe Monty Python starred in a total of five movies throughout their tenure, ranging from timeless classics to underappreciated gems. They made narrative films and sketch compilations; movies shot on location and concert films recorded live; some movies had lighthearted humor, some with shockingly twisted humor, and others with a mixture of both. When bringing their particular brand of surreal humor to the big screen, the troupe tackled bigger subjects like the Arthurian legend, the origins of Christianity, and the meaning of life. Not all of their movies are bona fide masterpieces like Monty Python’s Life of Brian, but there’s something special in each of them.

The Pythons’ influence can still be seen across the comedy landscape today. They’re often referred to as the "Beatles of comedy," (via The Atlantic) because they marked a watershed moment in the history of the art form.

Vampire Survivors: How to Kill Red Death
Image
Red Death is an enemy in Poncle Games' roguelike video game Vampire Survivors, who appears at the end of a run and is designed to one-shot the player's character. Red Death inevitably appears to players lucky enough to survive until the 30-minute mark in Vampire Survivors. Red Death's high stats make the creature nearly impossible to overcome, creating a final challenge for players to prevent them from being able to run around a stage forever after its completion.

Red Death exists in this roguelike game, and while plenty of similar titles exist, game fans likely don't realize that Vampire Survivors defines the genre. While Red Death might seem invincible initially, players can kill this Grim Reaper if equipped with the correct weaponry and passive items. Furthermore, once players have slain Red Death, it is instantly unlocked as a playable character, so long as they have the coins needed for its purchase.

The Ultimate Punchline: “Seinfeld” and the Restrained Jubilation of Death in Comedy
Image
Seinfeld’s fascination with murder and death is the silly sitcom’s secret weapon that often goes overlooked.

”I could have killed you and nobody would have known.”

”I could have killed you and nobody would have known.”

Seinfeld is glibly described as a “show about nothing,” but it’s actually a comedy that obsesses over the minutiae of everyday life and what it means to exist, even when that existence can feel like pure anguish. For a sitcom that’s so obsessed with life, it’s perhaps only fitting to make murder the ultimate punchline. Any of these karmic encounters with the Grim Reaper will trigger “restrained jubilation” in even the blackest of souls.

Unexpected death is funny to Larry David because it’s the epitome of a Seinfeld-style joke where random elements dovetail together. It’s not just something that goes wrong and spirals out of control for the character,...

How to Beat The Reaper in Persona 3
Image
Quick Links Prepare for The Reaper with Fusion Spells and Party Members Utilize Certain Skills, Items, and Social Links to Take The Reaper Down Team Tactics and Alternate Persona to Help Fight The Reaper

The most difficult shadow in Persona 3 represents an avatar of Death, the Grim Reaper, as a nigh-impossible-to-defeat boss that stalks players who spend too long in Tartarus that can only be brought down with careful planning and precise strategy. Armed with powerful magics that more often than not instantly defeat any member of the player's party, a battle with the Reaper is not for the hasty. Only through certain items, fusion spells, and Personas are players given the best chance to overcome this dangerous apparition, a task they must do to accomplish one of Elizabeth's Requests later in the game.

The Reaper does not make itself hard to find, as players must simply spend a long...

Best Realistic Sims 4 Mods For More Lifelike Gameplay
Image
Every Sims 4 player has their own unique playstyle when it comes to living out their Sims' lives. While some fans of the game prefer to have crazy, unrealistic scenarios play out in-game like building a dungeon or marrying the Grim Reaper, other players like a more grounded, lifelike style of play. While The Sims 4 does provide some in-game options by itself for fans to play in this manner, there are many mods that can enhance realistic gameplay in more complex ways.

From torturous Sims 4 mods for players' inner villain to small Ui improvements, the world of Sims 4 modding is incredibly vast. It's possible for players to find just about anything they can think of for their game, but with so many options it can be hard to sort through them and find the most high-quality options that are still receiving compatibility updates - it's always frustrating to find a promising...

Discovery Solved A Picard Android Body Plot Hole
Image
A huge Picard plot hole was deftly solved by Star Trek: Discovery season 4. Jean-Luc Picard's parietal lobe defect was first flagged during Star Trek: The Next Generation, but became an altogether more pressing problem 20 years later during Star Trek: Picard. As Jean-Luc's mission to save the galaxy, protect the Synths, and defeat the dastardly Zhat Vash neared completion, Patrick Stewart's legendary Starfleet hero succumbed to his illness. As luck would have it, Picard died while orbiting a planet populated by synthetic life forms and one of the greatest AI scientists ever born, and Altan Inigo Soong was able to transfer Picard's mind into an android golem.

Jean-Luc Picard cheating death via android replacement body created a Star Trek plot hole. The golem technology may be experimentally progressive during Star Trek: Picard's era, but logic suggests it would become increasingly common as the centuries passed. By 3188, for example, one would imagine dying had become voluntary,...

Hugh Jackman Says Logan And Wade Won't Exactly Be Buddies In Deadpool 3
Image
The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a curious thing. For starters, most of the McU's original Avengers team is super dead and the members that are left can be found tying up loose ends like Kevin Feige is hiding just out of frame with the Grim Reaper's scythe. (Go ahead and drop Steve Rogers into whichever of those two categories makes you most comfortable.) What makes the McU's trajectory a curious thing, however, is that Marvel Studios seems to be taking a very Hydra-style approach to the overarching story's next official steps. For every hero fallen, two heroes have risen to take their place, and that looks to be the trend for the foreseeable future.

Hmm, "future" -- that's a funny word to keep using in reference a narrative where the multiverse and time itself are endlessly flexible. It's especially strange when so much of the McU's...

Marvel Confirms the Punisher's Skull Symbol is Cursed
Image
Warning: contains spoilers for Savage Avengers #8!In a preview for Savage Avengers #8, Marvel has confirmed that the Punisher’s infamous skull logo is cursed. The Punisher’s legacy is one of bloodshed and violence, and as seen throughout the pages of Savage Avengers, this legacy extends at least to the year 2099, when the team is forced to recruit that era’s Punisher for a highly dangerous mission.

The Savage Avengers’ most recent arc kicked off when a future Miles Morales, now Deathlok, came back to the present to prevent a great catastrophe. Unfortunately, the Savage Avengers - including Elektra, Cloak, Dagger and Anti-Venom - were thrown back in time, and then forward to the dystopian future of Marvel 2099. There, they discovered that Ultron had conquered the Earth, using an army of Deathloks. The team first recruited Jake Gallows, the Punisher of 2099, in his first comic appearance in years. After recruiting Doom 2099 to the cause,...

The 15 Best Black Panther Comic Book Storylines
Image
Marvel Studios returned with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, introducing Namor the Sub-Mariner and Atlantis. Black Panther's clashes with Namor in modern comic books only scratch the surface of his amazing comic book history.

Black Panther first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 back in 1966 and his legacy produced important and entertaining storylines from diverse creators. These stories explore Wakanda's complex relationship with the world, what it means to be a leader, and what it means to be a hero.

Updated November 25, 2022, by Darby Harn:

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever weaved together several great comic book storylines. The movie drew from Black Panther's historical enmity with Namor as well as Shuri's heroic journey to becoming Wakanda's protector. The movie also hinted at other stories as well, including the Midnight Angels, represented in Aneka and Okoye. As Wakanda continues forward in the MCU, Black Panther's rich, important history in Marvel Comics only becomes more significant.

15 Best Nes Games Never Released Outside of Japan
John Leguizamo and Bob Hoskins in Super Mario Bros. (1993)
In 1983 Japan released the Famicom, which changed gaming forever. Two years later, it was released in the United States as the Nintendo Entertainment System (Nes), just in time for the console’s first true crown jewel release, Super Mario Bros. For gamers in the US, the two-year gap was a godsend. That gap gave Japanese developers time to work out some technical kinks and build up enough of a library to ensure that. by 1985, they definitely had a grasp on both the hardware and some crucial console game design principles. Of course, not all of those developers’ ideas made it to the West.

So many games appeared on both the Famicom and the Nes, but a surprising number of titles never made that journey across the world in their day. Sometimes, the games were held back due to cultural differences or hardware restrictions. For instance, there’s the infamous 1986 Taito...

Metroidvania Dating Sim ‘Romancelvania’ to Woo Players During Steam Fall Next Fest [Trailer]
It’s been a long while since we last talked about The Deep End Games’ darkly comic dating action game Romancelvania. Not only has the game made it to Steam, it’s making an appearance during the Steam Fall Next Fest this week with a new playable demo.

A mix of classic Metroidvania gameplay and dating sims, Romancelvania sees you play as the legendary playboy (or playgirl) vampire himself (or herself), Drac, as you battle and romance your way across Transylvania. It seems the Grim Reaper himself has gotten Drac to sign up and star in a “reality dating show,” with the mission to find the world’s most eligible monsters, get them to move into Drac’s party mansion, and restore the Count’s former glory by killing everything in your path in the process.

As you’d expect, one moment you’ll be hacking and slashing your way through a stage,...

Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
Was ‘The Walking Dead’s Biggest Mistake Announcing Its Spinoffs?
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
Throughout the years, many plot points on The Walking Dead have provoked fan ire. Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham’s (Michael Cudlitz) gory ends in the lineup. Carl Grimes’ (Chandler Riggs) unexpected gut-punch death, which still stings. Andrea’s (Laurie Holden) demise at the conclusion of Season 3, which baffled comics fans. But surprisingly, one of the most controversial moves from a show known for its sudden and heartbreaking deaths has been…all but confirming who lives. In The Walking Dead’s early seasons, the jig was much the same as on Game of Thrones: Almost anyone could go, at any time. Yes, certain main characters slipped through the Grim Reaper’s grasp, but “If Daryl Dies, We Riot” merch sold for a reason. In the early 2010s, it actually felt as though Daryl (Norman Reedus) could die. In a hypothetical world where that level of suspense existed throughout the...

Animal Kingdom Recap: J Moves [Spoiler] to the Top of His 'Hit' List

Technically, we haven’t heard that the Grim Reaper will be making a guest appearance on Animal Kingdom before the end of the series’ sixth and final season. But Sunday’s “Clink” sure began to make it seem inevitable.

On one hand, we had Pope behind bars. The Codys had bought him protection on the inside from a guy on the outside named Finnegan. However, it didn’t do the prisoner a whole helluva lotta good, because he repelled help pretty much the way that Deran might a shave and a haircut. Before the hour was through, Pope had not...

Tom Sturridge in The Sandman (2022)
That Big ‘Sandman’ Battle in Episode 4 Raises a Big Thematic Question for Each Character
Tom Sturridge in The Sandman (2022)
Warning: The following contains spoilers for Netflix’s “The Sandman,” Episode 4 “A Hope in Hell”

Throughout much of Netflix’s series adaptation of “The Sandman,” the show argues that nightmares, and the fear and immorality that haunt them, are more common and representative of humanity than anything else. Yet in the show’s fourth episode, “A Hope in Hell,” a counterargument that encapsulates “Sandman’s” central theme is delivered in ambitiously creative fashion.

Our hero Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) is locked into an epic metaphysical and idealogical duel with Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie), where each one takes on a new form be it beast, man (hunter), biological killers (bacterium), or even celestial powers (life-nurturing worlds and planet-killing novas).

But with Morpheus on the verge of losing this fight, his raven Matthew (Patton Oswalt) bluntly tells him that “Dreams don’t f—ing die, not if you believe in them.” This inspires our...

Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Celeste O'Connor in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
The 10 Best Afterlife-Based Comedies, Ranked According To IMDb
Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Celeste O'Connor in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Ironically, Ghostbusters: Afterlife breathed fresh life into the series and is considered a return to form for the long-running comedy franchise, and a Ghostbusters 5 has just been announced that will be a direct sequel. However, Ghostbusters isn't the only comedy series about the afterlife that will have audiences dying of laughter.

The afterlife has been depicted in many different ways in movies, whether it's Hell on Earth or pop acts playing their hits in Heaven. And between being haunted by a bio-exorcist and playing Twister with the Grim Reaper in hell, afterlife-based movies make for some of the most creative comedies.

Horror Movies That Are Just As Beautiful As They Are Terrifying
Horror, it has been said, serves as an ongoing, and ultimately never-ending exploration of humankind's innate fear of death. No matter the medium, the genre allows audiences to sit in a safe environment and explore their own mortality, so easily snatched away by a woods-dwelling ogre in a hockey mask. Horror, even when accompanied by raunchy, gory, exploitation movie glee, is the most philosophical of genres, staring the Grim Reaper right in its eye sockets, and coming to a deep understanding that death will always be an important part of our existence.

Certain filmmakers understand the morbid poetry the contemplation brings and have constructed beautifully...
