FBI: International Co-Creator Is Confident Quality Wasn't The Reason For Its Cancelation Despite Its Divisive Finale
Image
FBI: International co-creator Derek Haas has stated his confidence that the show was not canceled due to quality issues. The second spinoff from the FBI franchise debuted in 2021, and ran four seasons and 78 episodes before its cancellation earlier this year. FBI international's original cast featured Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Christiane Paul, Eva-Jane Wolfe. Eventually, One Chicago alum Jesse Lee Sofer took over Kleintank's leading role. The show followed the FBI's international team, headquartered in Budapest, who protect threats to America coming from Europe. Despite decent ratings, FBI: International was unexpectedly canceled after four seasons.

Per TVLine, Haas has stated his belief that quality was not behind the show's unexpected cancelation. International was axed back in March, alongside fellow sister spinoff FBI: Most Wanted, and Haas revealed his disappointment at the cancelation. However, he also stated that, although he's unclear about the reasons for the show being canceled, he is confident...

Co-Creator Derek Haas Says He Has ‘No Insight’ Into Why ‘FBI: International’ Was Canceled at CBS : It Had ‘Nothing to Do With the Quality of the Show’
Image
In a recent interview with TVLine, co-creator Derek Haas opened up about the recent cancellation of his CBS crime drama “FBI: International.”

“I was so sad to hear about the cancellation because I loved Jesse Soffer as Wes on the show and really thought it was a dynamic cast addition in Season 4,” Haas said.

“I have no insight into why it was canceled,” he added. “I love [President of CBS Entertainment ] Amy [Reisenbach] and [EVP of current and daytime programming] Eric [Kim] over at CBS, plus all my good friends at Wolf [Entertainment], and trust their instincts. So they must’ve had reasons that had nothing to do with the quality of the show.”

CBS unveiled that both spinoffs of its original “FBI” series, “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted,” would be canceled after their fourth and sixth seasons, respectively. “International” launched a year after “Most Wanted” in 2021, and starred Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto and Christiane Paul.

All 35 TV Shows Cancelled So Far in 2025
Image
Well, 2025 may have brought back some heavy-hitter TV shows like The White Lotus and Severance, but it also came swinging with the cancellation hammer, and no network was safe. From teen drama to crime procedurals, the chopping block was busy this year, and let’s just say, some of these cuts still sting. Yep, we’re talking about The Sex Lives of College Girls, S.W.A.T., and even FBI: Most Wanted. Ouch.

CBS, in particular, raised a few eyebrows (and blood pressure levels) with their ruthless spring cleaning. But according to the network’s bigwigs, it all comes down to numbers, ratings, and budget spreadsheets no one wants to look at. Translation- if your show wasn’t pulling its weight, it’s out.

So, whether your favorite got axed or you just love tracking TV heartbreak, here’s a full rundown of every show that’s been shown...

‘FBI: Most Wanted’ & ‘FBI: International’ Casts Say Goodbye As Canceled Series Wrap Filming: “All Good Things Must Come To An End”
Image
The casts of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International bid adieu as their respective canceled series wrapped filming.

While the CBS cancellations were announced in early March, leaving behind mothership series FBI — now in its seventh installment and renewed through the 2026-27 broadcast season — the spinoffs had yet to wrap production and finish filming, meaning they had time to adjust scripts to rework material into series finales.

Though Most Wanted will end after Season 6 and International was canceled after four seasons, the FBI universe is slated to get a new offshoot with the tentatively titled CIA, featuring Lucifer alum Tom Ellis. That offshoot, written by Dick Wolf and Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins, follows two unlikely partners: a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Ellis) and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law.

Edwin Hodge, who joined the cast of Most Wanted...

Why Luke Kleintank's Scott Forrester Left FBI: International
Image
There are certainly harder, more unforgiving jobs than being a main cast member of a long-running network television series (like the Steven Spielberg movie-turned NBC smash-hit "ER"). Still, while the gig pays remarkably well, the hours can be brutally long when a 20-plus episode season is in production. This means you're away from your loved ones for extended periods of time, which can be incredibly rough, especially if you have young children. You're missing important moments of their childhood, and, obviously, you can never get those back. This can take quite the toll.

I'm not suggesting you should grieve for the plight of TV actors, but you might keep this in mind as the seasons begin to pile on. Because when a key cast member departs one of your favorite series, they might be cutting out because no paycheck is worth placing an emotional strain on your personal relationships.

FBI: International Season 4, Episode 14 Review: A Nemesis Returns for More
Image
Quick LinksHow FBI: International Writes Out Riley QuinnFBI: International Season 4, Episode 14 Gets Back to Wes and CameronWhy CBS May Regret Canceling FBI: International

The following contains major spoilers from FBI: International Season 4, Episode 14, "A Winged Lion for Protection," which debuted Tuesday, March 11 on CBS.

FBI: International Season 4, Episode 14, "A Winged Lion for Protection" is the first episode to air since CBS cancelled the series, and it shows both the untapped potential and why the network may have come to that decision. The Riley Quinn storyline comes to an end just as awkwardly as it started, and the major guest star is wasted. But there's also some solid work from the core cast, and a welcome return by a past character, even if he's not the Fly Team's friend.

"A Winged Lion for Protection" follows the squad as they investigate the murder of a designer's personal assistant in Italy. All signs...

CBS has canceled FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International
Jon Voight and Keenen Ivory Wayans in Most Wanted (1997)
FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International just got canceled by CBS.

Social media loves to joke about not getting fired on your day off, and that just happened with the CBS shows.

With no episodes airing on its regular Tuesday night (March 4), this news will hit fans even harder.

The good news is that the flagship show, FBI, received a three-year renewal last April.

FBI Season 8 will air next year, and FBI Season 9 will debut in the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

More FBI spin-offs are also in the works, with FBI: CIA in development, possibly for the next television season.

FBI: Most wanted gets canceled

FBI: Most Wanted ends with its current sixth season.

The first FBI spin-off, Most Wanted, showcased an elite team that chased fugitives.

Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Nathaniel Arcand starred on the show.

Dylan McDermott joined in Season 4 after McMahon left the hit drama.

'FBI: Most Wanted' & 'FBI: International' Canceled by CBS
Image
CBS has sent two of Dick Wolf's popular procedural dramas to the chopping block in a surprise move as the network tries to make room in its schedule and slash costs. The high-profile cuts come from the FBIuniverse, with the network deciding to cancel two of its popular spinoffs.

Per Deadline, CBS has decided to cancel FBI spinoffs FBI: Most Wantedand FBI: International. The former has run the longest, at six seasons, while International has been a part of the network's lineup for four seasons. On the surface, it seems unclear why CBS has decided to ditch the two spinoffs, especially since both shows do pretty decently in linear viewership. The potential problem for both shows is that they aren't produced in-house and come from Universal Television, which can make renewal negotiations very tricky. CBS has had negotiations go down to the wire in recent years with NBCUniversal, particularly with the FBI franchise.

‘FBI: Most Wanted’ and ‘FBI: International’ Canceled at CBS
Image
“FBI: Most Wanted” and “FBI: International” will not return to CBS after their current sixth and fourth seasons, respectively, come to an end.

The flagship of the Dick Wolf CBS trio, “FBI,” kicked off in 2018. Last April, it landed a three-season renewal which will keep it on the air through Season 9 into the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

“FBI: Most Wanted” was the first “FBI” spinoff, which debuted in January 2020 and was originally led by Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz, Keisha Castle-Hughes and Nathanial Arcand. Dylan McDermott took over as the lead after McMahon left at the end of Season 3. The series has won its timeslot in every episode this season.

The second spinoff, “FBI: International,” launched in September 2021, with cast members Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto and Christiane Paul. At the end of Season 3, Jesse Lee Soffer took over the lead role when Kleintank exited. “International” often wins its...

‘FBI: Most Wanted,’ ‘FBI: International’ Canceled at CBS
Image
There’ll be a lot less FBI agents on TV next season. CBS announced Tuesday that it has opted not to renew “FBI” spinoffs “FBI: Most Wanted” and “FBI: International.”

The flagship series, which stars Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki, was previously renewed through the 2026-27 TV season at CBS.

Keeping two high-profile shows on the air after multiple seasons has gotten harder as costs continue to increase in Hollywood — the fact that both shows are also produced by Universal Television, an outside studio, makes a renewal even more difficult to secure. A previously announced “FBI: CIA” project remains in development and has not yet been cast.

The cancellations also come as President Trump’s animosity towards the actual bureau continues to play out. Last month, TheWrap talked to several experts, including two former FBI agents, who discussed how this real-life situation might affect the Dick Wolf universe: None of...

Wes Is in a Major Bind in 'FBI: International' Season 4 Sneak Peek
Image
Since Scott Forester (Luke Kleintank) departed The Fly Team, it had significantly shifted as Supervisory Special Agent Wesley "Wes" Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer) arrived in Budapest and took over. He has been operating with the mindset he must have had in the United States, but Europe and most places in the world are different. He has flouted some laws and disregarded basic courtesy, even if he usually has justifiable reasons. And he could have gotten away with everything if he didn't have a nemesis back home. In FBI: International Season 4, Episode 13, "You've Been Greenlit," Quinn (Veronica St. Clair) catches him in a problematic moment, and she gains the ammunition she has been looking for. CBS released a sneak peek from the February 25 episode, which shows Wes being arrested after a misstep. The logline below previews the episode, which spares some time to try and reign Mitchell in despite the huge task at hand.
