Adrian Leung is an Australian-Hong Kong composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work moves between classical traditions and experimental frontiers. His music lives in the space where orchestral richness meets ambient minimalism, where intricate sound design intertwines with raw emotion.
Now based in the UK, Adrian has scored award-winning films that have screened at festivals such as BFI London Film Festival, SXSW, Sydney Film Festival, and Raindance. Notable projects include The Herring Queen (Netflix), The Rise and Fall of Michelle Mone (BBC), Hong Kong: City on Fire (winner of the F:ACT Award at CPH:DOX), No More Wings (Best Narrative Short at Tribeca) and Happy Palace (NPO) Mayfair (BBC). He also features as a musician on Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later, collaborating with Scottish band Young Fathers.
Under the moniker Drexler, Adrian explores the intersection of ambient and contemporary classical music, reimagining familiar instruments in new and unexpected ways. His debut album Handles blends layered strings, delicate piano motifs, and field recordings, creating immersive, world-building compositions. The record has received airplay on NTS, Triple J, BBC Sounds and KEXP. Recently, he was awarded funding from Music Australia to complete his next release, furthering his exploration of sound, memory, and place.
Beyond film and recorded music, Adrian's work extends into the commercial space, composing for global campaigns with brands such as Amazon, Dove, Barnardo's, and Patrón Tequila.
Named one of IF Magazine's Rising Talents for 2025, Adrian was also selected for Sounds Australia's Trade Mission to Los Angeles, was a 2024 APRA PDA Finalist and is a member of BAFTA Connect.
Adrian is particularly interested in diverse stories that explore culture, identity and underrepresented voices.
