I’m honestly a little bit disappointed with the latest turn of events in When The Stars Gossip. The show went from entertaining sci-fi-romantic drama with a lot of ups and downs to what seems like a try-hard pro-life show where nothing seems to go right. Did Blackpink’s Rose Part Ways With Komca? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
On October 31, 2024, it was reported that Blackpink’s Rose had submitted her contract termination application with the Korea Music Copyright Association, mostly known as Komca. After a 3-month grace period, it was officially confirmed in January this year. With this, the Blackpink member became the first to leave Komca in the last 2 decades.
On January 31, 2025, Rose officially terminated her contract with the Korea Music Copyright Association. This rare move made her the first K-pop artist to withdraw from Komca in almost 20 years. The last time this happened was with Seo Taiji’s groundbreaking departure. He was a member of Seo Taiji and Boys, which also included Yg Entertainment’s founder, Yang Hyun Suk. On April 4, 2023, Taiji terminated his contract with Komca.
Rose’s sudden departure after decades has sparked significant buzz. Many are questioning her intention behind it or at least her reasoning.

Why Is Blackpink’s Jisoo Facing Hate Over Newtopia Performance? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Blackpink’s Jisoo has recently made her highly-anticipated acting comeback with Newtopia. In the zombie drama, she co-stars Park Jung Min, a talented actor known for his rich choices of projects. However, the K-pop idol, on the other hand, is facing some criticism over her performance.
Back in 2021, when Jisoo first made her acting debut with a lead role in Snowdrop, she had to go through similar scrutiny. Although her chemistry with Jung Hae In was well-received, many criticized her dialogue-delivery skills. Many were curious to witness her progress in the new drama.
However, seems like the Flower singer has once again ignited a heated debate among her fans online. Earlier in January, when the trailer for Newtopia was first released, many were extremely unhappy with Jisoo’s performance, while others expected that it would eventually turn out to be good.

I know the general consensus online is that When The Stars Gossip isn’t worth watching. But I think nobody’s realizing that this show is a genuine rom-com. Lately, everybody wants more mystery, more shock, and more intrigue in K-dramas, but this is the classic sci-fi K-drama with no plot but just romance that somehow keeps the show going. I don’t think it’s particularly bad at all, and I’m also appalled at the thought that some of us think the main leads have no chemistry. They’ve had chemistry right from the start; that’s why we think it doesn’t actually make sense. I think the worst bit is insulting the female lead for being a little bit older than Lee Min-Ho. Putting your faves on a high pedestal isn’t going to help anyone; in fact, Lee Min-Ho himself said she’s close to his ideal type,...

” When the Stars Gossip ” presents a unique narrative that blends a romantic comedy with a sci-fi backdrop. The series follows Gong Ryong, an Ob-gyn who gets involved in a task that combines his personal redemption with his scientific ambition on a space station in 2025. This unusual setting heightens the stakes and feelings and enables a compelling exploration of relationships.
Space is profoundly important as a backdrop. As the characters fight to balance ambition and love, it is a metaphor for loneliness and connection. Reflecting a generational shift toward more emotional storytelling, this cosmic setting is relevant to modern social fears.
The series is visually stunning, with cinematography that catches both space’s grandeur and personal space’s intimacy. The editing and sound design improve the narrative’s rhythm, which honors individual and group experiences. Ultimately, “When the Stars Gossip” follows conventional rules while quietly breaking them, making it a rich cultural artifact that merits exploration.

Netflix's highly anticipated romantic space drama, When the Stars Gossip, has finally premiered, but there are still many episodes to go before the show concludes. With Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin leading the cast of When the Stars Gossip, the series follows their two characters as they go into space and begin to fall in love with each other. When the Stars Gossip is a groundbreaking series, as it is the first Netflix romantic K-drama to have a story that is set in space.
So far, the first two episodes of When the Stars Gossip have received positive reviews, with the stellar cast, chemistry between the primary protagonists, and interesting plot being the highlights. As the first K-drama to be released on the streaming platform in 2025, there's a lot of pressure for the show to exceed expectations. I really don’t know how to feel about the new highly anticipated K-drama, When The Stars Gossip. On the one hand, I love to see Lee Min-Ho take on a role almost as hilarious as his character in the old K-drama, Personal Taste. I do realize that one probably hasn’t aged very well, but even still, I think it’s great to see him having fun playing a more relaxed and comical character, rather than an overly dramatic one. It just feels more fun, though I’ve been enjoying his work again thanks to Pachinko anyway. But rather than making this a rant about letting the serious guys do comic roles again, I’ll go back to what happens on the show in the second episode. In episode 2 we learn that mice and fruit flies populate the space station because they’re being experimented on. With their “help,...

Lee Min-Ho and Kong Hyo-Jin starrer, When The Stars Gossip, finally graced our screens on the 4th of January 2025. Before we get into what happens in the episode, I’ve got to add that along with a stellar leading cast of familiar faces, the first episode has cameos from beloved stars Cho Jung-Seok (Hospital Playlist) and Park Jin-Joo (It’s Okay To Not Be Okay). Unlike what you’d imagine, this show is entirely unserious and finally uses Lee Min-Ho’s impeccable comic timing for some hands-on entertainment. He plays Gong Ryong, an obstetrician who ends up the potential son-in-law of the CEO of the largest conglomerate in Korea, the Mz Group. Somehow, this leads to Gong Ryong going to space as a “tourist” on a hush-hush mission, having paid 70 billion won (by his father-in-law). The mission is essentially for research on unresolved human crises like dementia and infertility. I think...

Adapted from Min Jin Lee’s novel, the sprawling Apple TV+ drama “Pachinko” — about a Korean family’s plight living in Japan and the challenges they endure across generations — weaves between past and present timelines, unfolding a complicated multilingual tale of resilience, identity and generational trauma. “Pachinko” editor Susan E. Kim, who is Korean American, was deeply connected to the material, which helped inform the editing process.

Boys Over Flowers featured several actors whose careers were only going to get bigger after the 2009 K-drama. Adapted from Yoko Kamios Japanese manga of the same name, Boys Over Flowers sees Geum Jan-di, a working-class girl who falls for Gu Jun-pyo, the richest boy at Shinhwa High. Boys Over Flowers is not only one of the best romantic K-dramas of all time, but it also played a huge role in the Korean Wave.
While the actors in Boys Over Flowers worked on other TV shows before and after starring in the beloved series, they are mostly recognized for their roles in the high school K-drama. Exclusive: It’s hard not to start at the end when talking to Soo Hugh as Season 2 of her drama series Pachinko draws to a close. The Apple TV+ show follows a Korean family across four generations and takes in both historical events and family drama as the resolute Sunja moves from her home country to Japan. The denouement of the latest season is both satisfying and leaves the audience wanting more. There is still, it feels, some story to be told.
Hugh and her writing team moved beyond the 500 or so pages of the eponymous Min Jin Lee bestseller upon which the series is based for parts of Season 2 — notably within the strand set in late-1980s Japan. Going deeper into the Pachinko story is already top of mind. “Apple has been really generous and supportive and they’ve encouraged us to start thinking about it,” says Hugh. “The...

[This story contains major spoilers from the season two finale of Pachinko, “Chapter Sixteen.”]
For two seasons of Pachinko, Apple TV+’s series adaptation of Min Jin Lee’s novel about four generations of a Korean family living during and after Japanese rule, protagonist Sunja (Minha Kim) has wrestled with a devastating secret: The man who fathered her first child, Noa (Tae Ju Kang), is not Isak (Steve Sanghyun Noh), the sickly, late pastor whom she married shortly after becoming pregnant — but, rather, Hansu (Lee Minho), her wealthy first love who has ties to organized crime.
“Sunja, in some ways, can come off as such a fairytale character. It seems like she’s always good, like she always makes the right decision,” creator and showrunner Soo Hugh tells The Hollywood Reporter. “And yet, when you actually drill down into what she does in this show, she doesn’t always make the right decisions. For example, was it right of her not...

The second season of the Apple TV+ drama series “Pachinko” ended with powerful emotional moments and unresolved plot lines that could continue into future seasons. Based on the bestselling novel by Min Jin Lee, the show follows a Korean family across four generations through personal stories set against historical events in Korea and Japan.
A major revelation shook the core of the main character, Noa, portrayed by Kang Tae Ju. His girlfriend Akiko, played by Kilala Inori, told him the shocking truth: “Noa, Hansu is your father.” Learning this news that Hansu, played by Lee Minho, was his biological father and not the man he thought, Noa confronted Hansu. He also met devastated with his mother Sunja, portrayed by Youn Yuh-jung in the present and Minha Kim in the past.
This dramatic scene took an emotional toll on Kang Tae Ju to film. Showrunner Soo Hugh said Kang had to...

Editor’s Note: This post contains spoilers for the “Pachinko” Season 2 finale.
With more TV available than ever, but Hollywood isn’t hiding the fact that abundance contains both promise and peril. More shows and platforms means a more segmented audience, and that it’s harder than ever for a show to find its true viewership due to marketing, subscriptions, and other obstacles.
It’s a conundrum that faces “Pachinko,” easily one of the most breathtaking, exceptional dramas on the air right now, from creator by Soo Hugh. Though it’s climbing the charts on Apple TV+, the show was infamously snubbed at the 2022 Emmys and its actual viewership remains unknonw.
“I just don’t think enough people know about our show,” Hugh told IndieWire during a conversation about the Season 2 finale, which premiered on October 11. “I don’t take it personally, because I don’t think it’s a slight against the show.

If the exquisite longing of Sunja (Minha Kim) and Hansu (Lee Min-ho) in “Pachinko” Season 2 are any guide, then anything can be a breakup track if it tries hard enough.
Kidding aside, one of the great pleasures of “Pachinko” is the extremely cinematic ways the show finds to propel the characters’ love for each other across time. That sense of a sustained feeling reaching across the generations is often visual, with slow dissolves across storylines that creator Soo Hugh likens to a pentimento — the art term for when the viewer can see discarded changes that hide underneath the surface of a painting.
Behind every choice that Solomon (Jin Ha) makes in 1989, or every anxiety that Sunja swallows up in post-war Japan, there’s context ahead of or behind them; and for a moment, hanging between beautiful compositions, the editing of “Pachinko” lets us see those layers. But particularly in Season...

Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Pachinko” Season 2 finale.
Some of the biggest emotional moments in “Pachinko” have hinged on Sunja, the character portrayed by both Minha Kim and Yuh-Jung Youn in the Apple TV+ original. But few moments are as raw as the final conversation the middle-aged Sunja has with her eldest son Noa (Tae Ju Kang) in this season’s finale.
In many ways, the second season of “Pachinko” belongs to Noa. Desperate to give his son the best life possible, Hansu (Lee Minho) re-enters Sunja’s life, freeing her husband from prison and providing her family a safe place to life during America’s nuclear bombings. Slowly, Hansu comes to be a bigger and bigger part of Sunja and Noa’s life. By the time Noa is old enough to attend university, Hansu has established himself as a father figure and mentor to his biological son.

Spoiler Alert: The following interview contains spoilers from “Chapter 16,” the Season 2 finale of “Pachinko,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
The Apple TV+ drama “Pachinko” has once again delivered emotionally fraught season finale.
The time-jumping family drama about Korean immigrants, based on Min Jin Lee’s 2017 novel, put the focus of the season-ender primarily on a college-aged Noa (Tae Ju Kang) in 1951, as he experiences not only college life and his first serious girlfriend, but also finally arrives at the point we’ve been waiting for all season — his finding out that the wealthy and corrupt businessman Koh Hansu (Lee Min-ho) is his biological father.
Also, in the 1989 storyline, the older Sunja (Youn Yuh-jung) ends her budding romantic relationship, while her son Mozasu (Soji Arai) must confront someone from his past as he attempts to stop his ambitious son Solomon (Jin Ha) from going down a dark path he knows all too well.
