Since opening on Wednesday (July 23) through Lotte Entertainment, it has taken $4.5m from 627,885 admissions. While a strong start, it could not match the $5.6m taken by Jurassic World Rebirth over its opening weekend at the beginning of July.

Directed by Kim Byung-woo and based on the popular web novel, the story follows an office worker who finds himself the sole person aware of an apocalyptic narrative coming to life. The cast includes Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Min-ho, and Nana.

Brad Pitt’s “F1” held second place with $2.7 million, lifting its total to $18.6 million. Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” launched in third with $2.2 million and has a cumulative total of $2.7 million.

South Korean animated biblical tale “The King of Kings” dropped to fourth with $1.6 million for a cumulative $5 million. Japanese animated mystery “Detective Conan the Movie: One-Eyed Flashback” followed in fifth, adding $751,181 for a total of $3.7 million.

South Korean action fantasy Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy has been picked up for distribution in 113 territories and topped the local box office on its opening day.
