‘Mayans M.C.’ Season 5 Episode 10 Recap: “Slow to Bleed Fair Son” Series Finale
Image

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode 10 – the series finale – is, hands down, the best episode of the entire series. Amid all the blood and deaths, questions are answered, and dues are stamped paid. Not every character deserves their fate, but every death is, in its own way, justified.

Sons of Anarchy was Hamlet with motorcycles. Mayans M.C. is also a Shakespearean tragedy, complete with betrayals, love, loyalty, and murder.

Season five episode 10, “Slow to Bleed Fair Son,” begins with confirmation that Felipe has died. His funeral is the opening scene, with Angel (Clayton Cardenas) holding Maverick and Ez (Jd Pardo) solemnly staring straight ahead as “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord” is sung.

Sadly, the service has very few people other than Mayans in attendance. When the song ends, Angel and Ez...

‘Mayans M.C.’ Season 5 Episode 8 Recap: “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag”
Image
Jd Pardo as Ez Reyes in ‘Mayans Mc’ season 5 episode 8 (Photo Credit: Prashant Gupta / FX)

Still haven’t recovered from FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven? Neither have I. But buckle up because episode eight – “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag” – doesn’t let up. The episode finds the Mayans saying goodbye to Creeper, Angel lost without Adelita, and Hope taking drastic measures to ensure Isaac can never hurt her or Letty again.

But, most importantly, the episode’s explosive ending might spell the end of Ez’s short reign over the prisons.

Episode eight opens with Downer (Angel Oquendo) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) transporting the dead bodies of Diaz and Jinx. Guero’s justifiably worried after killing Oakland’s president in cold blood, which forced Bishop to take out the VP. But Downer assures him the club knows why he did it. It wasn’t a smart move,...

Mock Doc 'Killer Whales' Trailer About Trying to Make a True Crime Hit
Anthony Carrigan
"I wanted to see this guy try to make a movie." Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for an indie dark comedy titled Killer Whales, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker William Hamilton. This is riffing on the "true crime" craze right now, with too many true crime shows and series and films being released. Killer Whales is a mockumentary style film that follows a naive filmmaker who sets out to make the next true crime hit. Woefully underprepared and faced with a cast of kooky suspects, his plans unravel in spectacular fashion and threaten to throw him behind bars. All of this sounds so kooky and absurd. Killer Whales stars Anthony Carrigan, Neal Bledsoe, Greg Vrotsos, and A.B. Farrelly. This looks like both a cautionary tale about filmmaking and ego, as well as a satire about the true crime craze and how ridiculous it is. Not every death...

Michael Angarano Makes An Assured Directorial Debut With “Avenues”
Michael Angarano is an underrated actor. Performances in films like The Art of Getting By, Ceremony, In a Relationship, and Red State showcase this. A few years ago, he also wrote and directed a project which he also starred in. That project, Avenues, played a film festival or two, but never came out. This week, it finally does, and it is well worth the wait. Angarano gives one of his best performances to date, while also showcasing some admirable filmmaking chops. It all builds to a low key little gem of a movie. You’ll have to search this one out, but it’s well worth the trouble. Angarano has got the goods. The movie is a dramedy taking place over more or less a single day. The day is the birthday of Max (Angarano), an underachieving writer dealing, or more aptly, not dealing, with the recent suicide of his brother.

Official Trailer for NYC Indie 'Avenues' Directed by Michael Angarano
"Days like today, and meeting you - that's happiness, my friend." Gravitas Ventures has debuted an official trailer for an indie drama titled Avenues, which marks the feature directorial debut of Brooklyn-born actor Michael Angarano. This premiered at a festival back in 2017 but is just now getting a VOD release almost two years later. Set in New York City, Angarano also stars in this film as Max. On his birthday following the suicide of his brother, Max and his friend Peter wander the wintry streets (or the "avenues") of Manhattan contemplating life, livelihood, and what it means to be an adult. Like most indie dramas. Also starring Ari Graynor, Adelaide Clemens, John Robinson, and Greg Vrotsos. It might be a worthwhile little film. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Angarano's Avenues, direct from YouTube: On his 25th birthday, Max attempts to distance himself ...

"Twin Peaks," Episodes 3 & 4 Recap: Hell-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. What's an FBI Special Agent to do after being locked away for 25 years in unearthly purgatory? Episodes three and four of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks, which aired on Showtime this past Sunday in a two-hour block (aside from September's two-part finale, it's all single, hour-long episodes from hereon out), follow our besuited, Black Lodge-incarcerated hero Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) as he reintegrates into modern terrestrial society. So this is basically Peaks doing Rectify, just with a sterile death row replaced by an infernal hellscape out of Clive Barker. Or David Lynch, really. What's becoming more and more evident as the new Peaks progresses is that the series is, in large part, a repository for Lynch's subconscious, past and present.

Big Names On "Twin Peaks" Cast List Of 217
The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.

The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.

in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern,...
