David Nevins Spilled ‘Dexter’ Season 6 Was the Murderous Cousin of ‘The Da Vinci Code’: “Clues to be followed”
Image
Dexter Season 6 slices deep into faith, prophecy, and blood-soaked scripture. Our favorite Dark Passenger is back on the hunt—but this time, he’s not just following blood spatter. He’s unraveling a cryptic trail of Book of Revelation-style murders orchestrated by the so-called Doomsday Killers (Ddk), a duo made up of Professor James Gellar and his devoutly deranged disciple, Travis Marshall.

As Miami Metro scrambles to decode the gore-stained gospel, Dexter juggles ritual killings, fatherhood, and his own twisted sense of salvation. And while the season teases danger for little Harrison, the overkill in foreshadowing turns suspense into a shadow that never quite takes shape.

Dark, symbolic, and occasionally overstuffed, Season 6 is Dexter doing Dan Brown—only with more blood and fewer codes.

One Killer ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Fan Theory Could Turn Franchise Into a Worldwide Phenomenon
Image
Few shows in television history have maintained a cultural grip quite like Dexter. From its early seasons that had fans hooked on a blood-spatter analyst with a vigilante streak to the divisive finale and eventual redemption arc in Dexter: New Blood, the franchise has undergone several evolutions.

Now, with Dexter: Resurrection on the horizon, anticipation is high for what comes next, especially with original star Michael C. Hall confirmed to return. The showrunners have been tight-lipped about specific plot details, but even the smallest breadcrumbs have triggered some wild and fascinating fan speculation online.

The new chapter of Dexter needs to be different

Critics praised Michael C. Hall’s performance as Dexter Morgan when the show first aired in 2006. He was shown as a charismatic, cold-blooded, and oddly sympathetic person. While the original run had its ups and downs, few can deny the impact it had on crime television and character-driven drama.

Dexter Sequel Cast Update Confirms Return Of New Blood Star
Image
Dexter: Resurrection gets a new update, revealing that a Dexter: New Blood actor will be returning. Coming eight years after the divisive Dexter season 8 finale, New Blood picks up with Michael C. Hall's titular serial killer living under a new identity in Iron Lake, a town in upstate New York. Though the limited series was seemingly positioned as the end of the saga, it was subsesquently confirmed that Hall would return in the Dexter: Resurrection sequel show, which is set to feature a mix of new and familiar faces from across the franchise when it premieres this summer.

Deadline now reports that actor David Magidoff will return in Dexter: Resurrection. Magidoff played Iron Lake Police Department officer Teddy Reed in New Blood and will be reprising this role, though the extent of the character's involvement in the sequel show remains unknown.

The Dexter: Resurrection cast includes returning actors like James Remar,...

Image
Nicole Beharie received her first Emmy nomination this year, for her performance in the third season of “The Morning Show,” and she was sick in bed when she found out about it. “I had a little bout of Covid, and I was in bed after doing, like, a 16-hour day, and someone called me and was like, ‘Oh my God, girl!’ And I was like, ‘What’s happening? What’s going on?’ And then my manager called and I was like, ‘This is not funny!’ I actually didn’t believe it. And I was also under the weather, so it was like, ‘This is kind of not a funny joke.’ And then I looked it up myself and… it feels good,” she tells Gold Derby during a recent webchat (watch the full exclusive video interview above). “It’s a surprise for me. You know, this whole job has been a massive gift.

Jennifer Aniston Is "So Over Cancel Culture"

The upcoming season of The Morning Show will move away from cancel culture and explore the future of the network, with unexpected alliances and characters confronting their core values. New cast members, including Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie, will join the show.

Jennifer Aniston is not happy with cancel culture. Earlier this year, the Friends alum reflected on how shows like the acclaimed and popular sitcom that made her famous has become offensive for new generations, and how things are harder now for comedians. My friends from New York are here, it’s very special,” she noted. “These are my day one’s, my 20-pluses. My success is theirs.”

The raucous red carpet experience stands in stark contrast to the day, five months earlier, as Wise patiently waited at home for the first photo of her character to hit the internet.

Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Runaway
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
Dexter just can't help himself.

On Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 5, Dexter took revenge on the man responsible for harming his son -- forgoing Harry's Code for something more primal.

Is he finally getting himself into a mess from which he can't escape?

Michael C. Hall continues to kill it (in every way) as Dexter. He knows this character inside and out, and it shows. Every inflection, every nuanced movement, every sideways glance -- you can tell he relishes this role.

Hall's Dexter is so intriguingly conflicted. He knows he has to tread lightly with Harrison, but he still manages to screw it up. The more he tries to get Harrison to open up to him, the more Harrison pulls away -- and possibly under the wing of an even more terrifying serial killer.

Dexter's humanity is no longer up for debate. In the early seasons of the original series,...

Dexter: New Blood is already a hit for Showtime.

The highly-anticipated revival kicked off Sunday with a projected 2.2 million viewers according to Deadline.

The TV industry has understandably changed since the original series was on the air, so it will be exciting to see how Dexter: New Blood holds up and if the good word of mouth makes the ratings soar.

Michael C. Hall returned for the revival which is currently being billed as a limited series.

It picked up with him living in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York, where Dexter is embracing a new life.

Michael C. Hall in Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 1 Review: Cold Snap
Michael C. Hall in Dexter: New Blood (2021)
It's fan service at its finest.

On Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 1, we are introduced to a kinder, gentler Dexter, existing in a climate as different from Miami as possible.

It's not long until the bloodlust kicks in, and Dexter is back to his old ways. But that's why we're here, isn't it?

After Dexter's poorly resolved "final season," viewers were left with a bad taste in their mouths. When Showtime announced that the series would return with a limited run, fans remained skeptical but intrigued.

With Clyde Phillips, showrunner of the first four seasons (widely considered Dexter's best), heading the production, we needn't have worried. Dexter: New Blood feels like a return to the old Dexter we knew and loved.

There are many differences, but the tone feels the same as in the original series. There are enough callbacks to remind us how we got hooked without feeling gratuitous.

‘Dexter: New Blood’: See ghostly new photos of Jennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan

We’re just about a month away from the November 7 premiere of “Dexter: New Blood” on Showtime, which will reunite fans with their favorite serial killer. Little is known about the plot of Season 9, except for the fact that Dexter Morgan (Michael C. His sister Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) will also be a part of the revival, though it’s unclear in what capacity as she died (for real) at the hands of psychopath Oliver Saxon (Darri Ingolfsson) in the final season.

As fans continue to speculate about Carpenter’s mysterious role in “Dexter: New Blood,” let’s take a look at three newly released photos of the former Miami Metro lieutenant.

Showtime Unveils ‘Dexter: New Blood’ Key Art To Celebrate Series’ 15th Anniversary
Image
Dexter’s Michael C. Hall looks chilling in the key art for Showtime’s upcoming revival Dexter: New Blood.

To celebrate the original series 15th anniversary on Friday, Showtime dropped two pieces of key art for Dexter’s next chapter, which is set to debut on November 7 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

Dexter, which aired for eight seasons on Showtime from 2006-13, centered on the mild-mannered Dexter Morgan (Hall). By day, Dexter worked as a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami police. By night, he was a serial killer—one who happened to target other murderers.

Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, Dexter: New Blood finds the titular character living under an assumed name in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger inevitably beckons.

Dexter New Blood Trailer Teases a Father and Son Reunion, Deb's Return, & More!
Michael C. Hall
Is Dexter Morgan a monster?

That's the question Michael C. Hall's embattled alter ego asks himself multiple times on the full-length trailer for Dexter: New Blood, the upcoming revival of the hit series.

Dexter's plan was always to target the type of people who were menaces to society, and it just so happens that one of those is killing people around in Upstate New York.

Dexter is put in a precarious situation as he tries to come to terms with the past and how he can return to his old ways in the name of saving the lives of some new people.

The issue plaguing him is that his The Passenger remains with him in the form of his dearly departed sister, Deb.

This iteration of Deb is not impressed with Dexter's ways, pegging him a serial killer and a monster.

“I might still be a monster, but I’m an evolving monster,...

‘Dexter: New Blood’ Trailer: Michael C. Hall Sharpens His Cleaver As “Evolving Monster” Returns
Image
Showtime released the official trailer for the upcoming event series Dexter: New Blood, providing more than a few clues about what longtime fans of the killer show can expect.

For starters, Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan clearly hasn’t outrun his Dark Passenger. “Monsters walk among us,” Dexter says in voiceover, after we’ve seen that a serial killer – the exact type that the avenging Dexter has always chosen as his victims – has been stalking his new Upstate New York territory. “I might still be a monster, but I’m an evolving monster.”

And just to make absolutely certain we get the sharp-edged point, we see Dex sharpening a meat cleaver, and hear his long-suffering sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) ask, “You can not wait to kill again – have you learned nothing?”

Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
‘Dexter’ Showrunner Teases ‘Very Different’ Title Sequence for Showtime Revival
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
When “Dexter” returns in November after eight years, it will feature very few of the elements from the Showtime drama’s original run. That will include a change to the show’s famous opening credits.

“We haven’t really completely closed the idea of what the new titles are, but they will not [incorporate] the cheekiness of what we had before, the jauntiness and irony of what we had before,” Clyde Phillips, who is returning as showrunner, said. Phillips led the show’s first four seasons, which are considered its golden years by many fans. “The viewer should expect that the title sequence, if there is even a sequence … will be very different from what they’ve seen before.”

For those that forgot the Og title sequence, watch them below:

Along with Michael C. Hall, “Dexter: New Blood” brings back Jennifer Carpenter’s Debra Morgan and John Lithgow’s Arthur Mitchell...

‘Dexter: New Blood’: Showtime’s Revival to Serve as a ‘Proper Finale,’ but It May Not be the End
Image
“Dexter” is coming back, and there will be (new) blood. Showtime previously announced that its revival of the hit crime drama series will premiere November 7, but more details were spilled during Tuesday’s virtual panel with the show’s stars and creators at the Television Critics Association Summer 2021 Press Tour.

The show’s cast and creators emphasized that though “New Blood” is a sequel to the original series, they intended to have the upcoming show stand on its own and did not rely on the same visual style or spend excessive time exploring what Dexter had been doing in the years since the events of the original show.

“We don’t spend a great deal of time in a flashback or anything like that in regard to where Dexter has been,” Hall said. “We’re led to believe that he has been somewhat nomadic. He’s doing more than just existing.

Dexter Trailer Teases A Second Series Finale
Image
The Dark Passenger is back. Dexter Morgan is returning to Showtime in Dexter: New Blood, and the new limited series appears to be aiming to erase the, let’s call it contentious, reputation of the Dexter series finale. You can check out the first look at Dexter: New Blood below.

Michael C. Hall is back as everyone’s favorite compulsive serial killer, this time taking up residence in snowy upstate New York under the alias Jim Lindsay (the name appears to be a nod to Dexter creator Jeff Lindsay). Dexter is once again hiding in plain sight, but he knows that “Every day I walk through this world, faking it. Knowing if someone knows who I am, that’s it.” Dex doesn’t appear to have changed his look much, meaning that in the world of Dexter, you can still count on the FBI to be pretty incompetent.

A change...

Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
Dexter: Michael C. Hall Reveals Poorly Received Finale Inspired the Revival
Michael C. Hall in Dexter (2006)
It's been a long time coming for Dexter fans.

Later this year, the series returns with a new limited series called Dexter: New Blood, and it comes several years after fans reacted in shock and anger to the original series finale.

Michael C. Hall was candid about bringing the show back during the Comic Con@Home panel for the series over the weekend, and it sounds like the maligned finale was a big part of bringing the show back.

"It was a huge part of it. I think the ending was mystifying at best to people, confounding, exasperating, frustrating, on down the line of negative adjectives," Hall said during the panel.

"I think this is a show that's very important to all of us, and the chance to revisit it and maybe in the process, redefine the sense of the show's ending and the sense of the show's legacy more...

Dexter Tries to Ditch His Serial Killer Past in New Trailer for Revival ‘Dexter: New Blood’
Image
Michael C. Hall’s Dexter tries to blend in as a townie in the new trailer for Dexter: New Blood, set to premiere November 7th on Showtime.

The 10-episode revival finds Dexter living under an assumed name, Jim Lindsay, while residing in snowy Iron Lake, New York, where he runs a sporting goods store. Although in the new clip Dexter/Jim seems generally well-adjusted, he’s also doing a lot of brooding over the possibility that his real identity might come out, while simultaneously struggling to repress his urge to maim and kill.

Dexter Revival: Premiere Date and Grisly Trailer Revealed!
Clancy Brown at an event for Cowboys & Aliens (2011)
Dexter Morgan is keeping his demons at bay ... for now.

Showtime dropped a full-length trailer for the forthcoming revival of Dexter, and it has a chilling title:

Dexter: New Blood.

The trailer shows Dexter living as Jimmy Lindsay, and it's clear he wants to return to his old ways.

If the trailer is to be believed, he's managed to keep his demons at bay, but will a trip to a therapist bring it all back?

The series launches nearly a decade after the controversial series finale and will include Clancy Brown (Carnivale and Billions) as Dexter's antagonist, Kurt Caldwell, the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake.

Dexter: New Blood's expansive cast also includes Julia Jones as Iron Lake’s first Native American Chief of Police. The trailer confirms a romantic connection between her and Dexter.

Alano Miller is set to play an Iron Lake Pd sergeant, while Jamie Chung will play...

Showtime Sets ‘Dexter’ Limited Series Premiere Date At Comic-Con@Home
Image
Nearly a decade since everyone’s favorite serial killer moved away and became a logger in 2013, Showtime’s Dexter is back—at Comic-Con@Home, at least. The show’s big return to Comic-Con featured Michael C. Hall, series showrunner from seasons 1-4, Clyde Phillips, executive producers Marcos Siega and Scott Reynolds, and Julia Jones, who will make her debut in the limited series as Dexter’s love interest Angela Bishop.

The panelists discussed where fans will find Dexter, a former Miami Metro Police Department forensic technician who moonlights as a notorious serial killer, when the next 10 episodes premiere on Nov. 7 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

“It was important that this not be Dexter season 9,” Phillips stated. We wanted to acknowledge that nearly 10 years have passed and we pick up with Dexter being in another place far away from Miami.”

It’s been obvious from the various teaser trailers that the...

John Lithgow at an event for The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards (2010)
Dexter: Jennifer Carpenter Returning for Revival!
John Lithgow at an event for The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards (2010)
Dexter will face another figure from his past on the upcoming Showtime revival.

TV Line confirmed the news, which has been heavily rumored for months.

No details on how long the return is for, but John Lithgow, who is also set for a comeback, suggested to Deadline that they would be back in flashbacks.

“It was just wonderful to rejoin that gang — including Michael [C. Hall] and Jennifer Carpenter and [exec producer] Clyde Phillips.”

With Carpenter's Debra being dead by the end of the original series in 2013, it makes sense.

It's also possible that Dexter will be haunted by faces from his past, but we'll need to tune in when the series returns in the fall for more insight into it all.

For her part, Carpenter hinted at a return earlier this year when she shared a photo on Instagram, presumably from the set of the series.

The cast of the revival also includes...
