When the first God Of War game launched on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, it quickly cemented itself as a popular and beloved franchise. The first game spawned several equally popular sequels before the series was rebooted on the PlayStation 4 and PC in 2018. This reboot took the game in a vastly different direction, attracting a new audience and bringing Kratos back into the spotlight.

When it comes to launching new consoles and developing fresh tech, the Nintendo team isn't immune to doubt.
Nintendo has really pushed the boundaries over the last decade or so, not just with regards to making great video games, but also by totally revamping the sort of technology that we play these games on. But this sort of industry-changing console development doesn't come without risk, and now we've learned that there are "often doubts" from internal members of staff.
The Nintendo Wii provides one example of Nintendo forging its own path: this home console chose to ignore the push for HD graphics that other manufacturers were working towards at the time, instead opting to put its emphasis on interactivity and motion controls. The launch of the Nintendo Switch was an equally game-changing moment, with Nintendo creating a household/handheld hybrid while everyone else was thinking about game streaming and their next-gen consoles.

The Nintendo Switch has been selling extremely well since its launch in 2017. On top of having all-around great third-party support, the Nintendo Switch has benefitted from great exclusive games that have motivated many people to get one for themselves. The system doesn't have the raw power of the Xbox One or PS4, but has still managed to grab an audience thanks to its portability and a strong library of exclusive titles.

Nintendo wants Pokémon Company director Satoru Shibata to join its Board of Directors, according to a notice to shareholders. It will hold an election on Thursday, June 28 at 10 a.m. Japan time.
Shibata was formerly president of Nintendo of Europe before joining the Pokémon Company as an outside director in May.
“Mr. Satoru Shibata has gained extensive business experience in overseas marketing, successively served as the president of overseas subsidiaries, and has a thorough understanding of company management,” Nintendo said. “We request his election as a new director based on our judgment that he will enhance the decision-making and supervisory functions of the Board of Directors and contribute to the improvement of corporate value.”
If elected, Shibata will replace former Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, who announced his retirement in April. Kimishima took on the role in 2015 following the death of Satoru Iwata and oversaw the launch of the Nintendo Switch...

Everything we know about Metroid Prime 4, including latest news, release date, trailer, and much more!
Nintendo has rebooted Metroid Prime 4 and placed series developer Retro Studios in charge of the title's ongoing development.
"The current development status is very challenged, and we had to make a difficult decision as a development team," Nintendo's Shinya Takahashi said in a stunning new video announcement. "We did not make this decision lightly. This change will essentially mean restarting development from the beginning, so the completion of the game will be delayed from our initial internal plan...We strongly recognise that this delay will come as a disappointment to the many fans who have been looking forward to the launch of Metroid Prime 4."
Why would Nintendo just restart the development of one of its most anticipated new games? The company didn't share all of the details, but it indicated during the...

The handheld nature of the Switch might make it a candidate for a mid-life-span upgrade, Nintendo suggests...
With Sony's (relatively) new PlayStation 4 Pro and the impending release of Microsooft's Project Scorpio, it's starting to look like updating current consoles is becoming the preferred tactic to the traditional approach of releasing entirely new ones every few years or so. Nintendo is also no stranger to this approach, since it's had a long history of releasing improved versions of their handhelds, such as the Nintendo 3Ds Xl and New 3Ds.
See related Power Rangers, boob armour, and impractical costumes
So is Nintendo planning on releasing any similar updates to the console-handheld hybrid Switch? The answer to that question seems pretty complicated at the moment.
In an interview with Time, Nintendo director Shinya Takahashi and producer Yoshiaki Koizumi talked about the possibility of a midlife hardware upgrade to the Nintendo Switch.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has reportedly said during Nintendo’s investor Q&A that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild needs to sell over 2 million copies for it to make a profit when it launches next year. Miyamoto’s comments, which were translated by Twitter user Cheesemeister3k (via VideoGamer) reveal that the reason for such a sales target is a combination of a large stuff numbers and a rather long development cycle.
He reportedly said that:
Breath of the Wild has over 100 staff, and over 300 people in the credits, spending over 5 years. Our current efforts will be helpful in the next production. The costs will be recovered by selling in large volumes, passing 2m sales.
A game is a hit in the domestic market if it reaches 300k sales, but we’re targeting worldwide sales.
However, despite the heavy resource investment Nintendo has put into making Breath of The Wild,...
