Historically, the pursuit of immortality has been one of the classic objectives of human civilization. At some point in our lives, the thought of cheating death, evading the dread of mortality, has come across our minds, at least if not from a personal drive to live longer, then out of concerns for the ones we care for and love. People have gone to remarkable, and occasionally odd, lengths in their efforts to stop the ever-flowing ravages of time, and Netflix’s latest documentary, Don’t Die: The Man Who Wants To Live Forever, which revolves around millionaire entrepreneur Bryan Johnson’s attempt to reverse the aging process, is a testament to that. While viewers might initially feel themselves quick to pass the judgment that the documentary is just another expert marketing of a rich lifestyle, which is a stark reminder of the existing class divide, I can assure you there are...

Netflix's endearing documentary Will & Harper, is accompanied by the kind of solid music soundtrack to be expected from a buddy road-trip movie. Will & Harper features the mercurial Will Ferrell and his comedy writing partner Harper Steele, as they travel 3000 miles across the US to mark Steele's gender transition and test America's heartland's response to it.
In 2020, Andrew Steele, former Saturday Night Live head writer, challenged long-term friend and collaborator Will Ferrell when he revealed that he was officially re-gendering as Harper. That revelation prompted Ferrell to propose a road trip during which he could examine his own response to his friend's transition, and learn about Harper's lived experience out in the real world. The soundtrack to Harper & Will is suitably eclectic, mirroring the range of emotions the pair go through on their journey.

When one thinks of Will Ferrell, most likely the first thing that comes to mind is his impressive history as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. After a long tenue on the reality TV sketch show, Will remains one of the most recognized comedians in the country. Will's new movie on Netflix, Will & Harper, touches on his impressive history, but with a twist.
At the start of the film, Will notes that, while he was a part of Saturday Night Live, he grew particularly close with one of the writers, Andrew Steele. Will credited Andrew with bringing him out of his shell when he was a rookie cast member and getting the others on staff to see his comedic potential. The two have been friends for nearly three decades by this point, but there's one major difference now, as Will's friend has since transitioned to live as a woman,...

Netflix's engrossing new buddy road-trip documentary, Will & Harper, features comedy duo Will Ferrell and Harper Steele as they motor across America to celebrate Steele's transition from male to female. The two icons of American comedy have shared a friendship and highly successful working relationship for close to 30 years, from their first encounter at Saturday Night Live to their partnership as founder and Creative Director respectively of web production company Funny or Die.
Will & Harper marks Ferrell and Steele's fourth, and first non-fiction, film collaboration. Most famously, they co-wrote the gloriously off-beat movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga in 2020, and it was less than two years later that the then-Andrew Steele notified Ferrell by email about the decision to fully transition to Harper. That revelation led them to Will & Harper, ostensibly a project that would throw the two friends together for a 3000-mile trip across...

We have a brand new documentary that works like a road-trip movie – where an old man receives an email from an old friend who now wants to be recognized as a woman, and the two of them hit the road, just like that. But in Netflix’s latest documentary, Will and Harper, Will is world famous actor and comedian Will Ferrell and Harper is the famous SNL writer who used to be known as Andrew Steele. Obviously that adds a layer of value to the documentary, which could just as easily have been about two random friends. But Will and Harper soars thanks to its honesty, and the way director Josh Greenbaum films the whole thing. It’s a genuine, heartfelt, emotionally impactful story that (rightfully) focuses on Harper, and Will sort of represents the audience.

Casting director Robert Sterne has been with Netflix’s hit drama “The Crown” for all six seasons — and even though the show has concluded, he continues to be asked about acting opportunities. “I still get letters saying, ‘Please, can I be Meghan Markle?’” he says. “And I think, ‘Well, the moment’s gone.’”
While the acclaimed program just concluded, the journey began nine years ago for Sterne. “It started with us sitting around a table talking about it, and now here we are,” says the U.K.-based CD who worked closely with series creator Peter Morgan throughout. “We were discussing how it was going to work, the idea of casting it again every two years. I think it was better than using ever-increasing layers of makeup. It was, in many ways, an experiment.”

Seth Meyers has got plenty more “A Closer Look”s coming. The SNL star-turned-late-night-talk-show-host has signed on to stay seated behind the desk of NBC’s Late Night through 2028.
NBCUniversal just announced the show’s renewal, alongside news that Meyers’ production company, Sethmaker Shoemeyers, has also extended its contract to continue creating content across the network’s many platforms.
Meyers has spent the bulk of his career working within 30 Rock. The comedian joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2001, and was promoted to writing supervisor four years later. In 2005, Meyers began serving as SNL’s co-head writer alongside Tina Fey and Andrew Steele. When Fey departed the legendary sketch series in 2006, he took over her spot on “Weekend Update” and served as the show’s sole head writer for the next season.
Meyers, ever the workhorse, performed his final episode of SNL on February 1, 2014.

Seth Meyers has been walking the halls of 30 Rock in New York City for quite some time. In 2001, he joined Saturday Night Live, where he served as cast member and co-head writer with Tina Fey and Andrew Steele. But you probably know him best behind the Weekend Update desk, where he served as an anchor for many years with Amy Poehler, by himself, and with Cecily Strong. Though Meyers said a tearful goodbye to SNL in 2014, he didn’t really leave. In February of that year, Meyers took over the reins of Late Night from former SNL cast member Jimmy Fallon, and has been kicking talk show butt ever since.

Although Wordle is rather simplistic, recognizing good strategies can take away some of the guesswork, and the first Wordle combination can be used to great effect. A lot of the strategy for Wordle's puzzles lies in simply finding a few letters that are used in the correct answer. Effectively combining the first two guesses can lead to word combinations that greatly reduce the potential letters and weed out some of the more commonly used ones.
Though it may seem like the first guess is nothing more than a crapshoot to get started, some combinations make for better words to start Wordle games with. Without putting too much thought into it, a good starting place is to eliminate some vowels. Compared to consonants, it's easy to get a large variety of vowels on the board in one or two Wordle guesses with words like "adieu," but focusing solely on vowels won't...

Is it possible to square loving The Crown with ambivalence about the “crown”? This has always been the fine line that Netflix’s behemoth has straddled. A fussy, at times unlikeable, protagonist, carrying the flag for institutions that, at the most charitable, represent hereditary privilege, and, at the less forgiving end of the spectrum, the atrocities of the British Empire. As mitigation, the show’s creator Peter Morgan has turned the central figure, Elizabeth II, into a prism through which to view the 20th century. From the twilight of Empire through the Cold War, by way of crises in Suez and Falklands, Aberfan and the Troubles. A noble solution, until, that is, you run out of history.
And so we find ourselves now, with the show’s fifth outing, firmly in the recent memory. John Major is prime minister. Prince Charles (Dominic West) is a jug-eared familiar, and Anne (Claudia Harrison...

“It would be great to see it nominated,” says the A-list comedy actor Will Ferrell when, during a recording of The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter podcast, we begin discussing the Oscar buzz surrounding “Husavik,” an original song featured in Ferrell’s recent Netflix vehicle Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, which Ferrell also co-wrote, with Andrew Steele, and David Dobkin directed.
The film’s entire musical score — coordinated by compilation producer Savan Kotecha and music supervisor Becky Bentham, and featuring additional tunes like “Volcano Man,” “Jaja Ding Dong, “Lion of Love” and “Double Trouble” — is impressive in the way that it “threads the needle between songs that are humorous and guilty pleasures,” as Ferrell puts it. And it was recently nominated for best compilation soundtrack for visual media at the Grammys, which will take place March 14.
