Asaf Sagiv is a composer for concert music and film. He lives in Los Angeles.
In the summer of 2025, Sagiv released IMA, a solo double album dedicated to his late mother, Osnat Sagiv (Sabina Perelman). The work features vocalists from the LA Phil and Los Angeles Master Chorale conducted by Jenny Wong, ACME string quartet, and Daniela Mars on contrabass flute, with instrumentation including pipe organ, piano, celesta, woodwinds, and electronics.
The music moves through Sagiv's orchestral and chamber writing, electronic textures, and field recordings. While honoring tradition, the voice carves its own path. The work holds themes of memory, transformation, death, transcendence and return; IMA on many levels can be seen as a rebirth. The motifs shift and evolve within a living universe of distinct architectural signature and feel. A labor of love and devotion.
IMA was recorded in resonant spaces and churches across New York, Los Angeles, and a brutalist sanctuary in Köln. It was mixed by Francesco Donadello and features artwork by Nobel Prize-winner Gao Xingjian.
The work premiered live in Manhattan with Roomful of Teeth and ACME, cellist Andrew Yee, and organist Janet Yieh. It was filmed by director Jared Malik Royal (Ridley Scott's RSA) for public release in October 2025.
Sagiv composes for Netflix, HBO, Warner Bros, Lionsgate, and select independent films. As of 2025 he is scoring Being, a sci-fi drama by Leonardo Guerra Seràgnoli (Vermigilio, Golden Globes nominee), in development at Cinedora Studios, Italy.
He is also known for Netflix's Emmy Nominated ReMastered: Who Shot the Sheriff? (2018) , Drug$ (2018), Misconduct (2016) and Homefront (2013).
