Amit Dey
Amit was born and raised in Calgary, Canada, the third son of migrants from India and Bangladesh. Having spent his childhood there, he moved to Carleton University to study Film and Political Science before studying Cinematography and Production at Vancouver Film School.

From there, Amit entered the film business in Universal Pictures' Amsterdam office, where he quickly became a key member of its international acquisitions and production team working across scripted and documentary features. After relocating to Universal's European headquarters in London, he worked closely on films across the independent filmmaking spectrum, from genre hits like Cop Car & Mandy to box office hits like Apollo 11 and Three Identical Strangers.

In 2018, Amit was tapped to start a documentary division for independent powerhouse MRC (American Fiction, Knives Out, Ozark, Baby Driver). Responsible for green lighting, production and delivery of fully financed documentaries, he delivered a genre-defying set of critically acclaimed projects from some of the top talent in documentary filmmaking. This also included management and development of all projects arising from Valence-owned media brands; Rolling Stone, Billboard, Hollywood Reporter and Variety, as well as IP from Dick Clark Productions.

In 2024, Amit oversaw one of the most ambitious release slate ever produced by an independent studio with critically renowned and award-winning films released including Greatest Night in Pop, winner of a Producers Guild and Critics Choice Award and nominated for multiple Emmy's and a Grammy. Amit also produced Sly Lives! (Or the Burden of Black Genius) which opened the Sundance Film Festival and was made in collaboration with Academy Award Winning filmmakers Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Joseph Patel. This followed the holiday release of the marquee Disney +/National Geographic documentary "Blink", a story following a Quebec family travelling the world after an unexpected diagnosis befalls their children, directed by Academy Award Winner Daniel Roher and Edmund Stenson. Amit was also responsible for The Contestant, a film following the eponymous hero of the most unbelievable japanese reality show ever made, and the definitive story of Milli Vanilli for Paramount+ with filmmaker Luke Korem.

On the back of this incredible string of well received work, Amit formed Adda Film to continue making films with great filmmakers on commercially relevant topics they are passionate about, that can appeal to the global audiences he spent his career catering to.

Amit lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
