Emma Thompson Leads Audible Sequel “Becoming Meg Dashwood”
Emma Thompson
Emma Thompson is returning to Jane Austen territory with “Becoming Meg Dashwood,” an Audible original scheduled for release on 6 October 2025, three decades after her Oscar-winning 1995 screenplay of “Sense and Sensibility.” The actor-writer will voice an adult Margaret Dashwood and serve as executive producer, reuniting with Imelda Staunton, who lends her celebrated wit to Mrs Jennings.

Rebecca Humphries’ script follows Margaret as she escapes cottage respectability for London’s underground salons, meeting characters played by Naomi Ackie, Erin Doherty, Jessica Gunning and Liz Carr; Greg Wise, Thompson’s partner on and off screen, appears as Dr Keats.

Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan supplies an electronic-inflected score, while director Jo Tyabji builds what Audible bills as a “riotous, rebellious period drama about female friendship, sexuality and liberation.” Thompson said the narrative “takes us from Austen’s world into the hidden parts of women’s lives … giving one of her characters a future and a big,...

Exclusive: Three decades on from her Oscar-winning movie, Emma Thompson is returning to the world of Sense and Sensibility with an Audible Original telling the story of the youngest Dashwood sister and adding a dash of “sexuality and liberation.”

Thompson is producing and leading sequel Becoming Meg Dashwood with an ensemble including Emmy-nominee Erin Doherty (Adolescence), BAFTA-winner Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17), Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning, acting legend Imelda Staunton, Liz Carr, Paterson Joseph, Greg Wise and Golda Rosheuvel.

The drama picks up where Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility left off, with Thompson playing Margaret Dashwood in what is described as a “riotous, rebellious period drama about female friendship, sexuality and liberation.” Fresh off her astonishing turn in Netflix’s Adolescence, Doherty plays Margaret’s younger self Meg and Ackie is her lover Nelly. Carr plays Mrs Dashwood, Gunning is Hester and Staunton is Mrs Jennings.

Mark Wahlbergs Rotten Action Thriller Infinite Reaches #1 Spot on Prime Video
Image
A panned action thriller starring Mark Wahlberg has climbed the charts on Prime Video, reaching all the way to the tippy top #1 spot. Titled Infinite, the movie was met with largely scathing reviews from critics at the time, but this no-nonsense tale of a mysterious group who have mastered the art of reincarnation, and the decades of learning of fighting skills that come with it, could be just what you need amid the drama of the real world.

Loosely adapted from D. Eric Maikranz's 2009 novel "The Reincarnationist Papers," Infinite finds Mark Wahlberg as Evan McCauley, a man with skills he has never learned and memories of places he has never visited haunt his daily life. Self-medicated and on the brink of a mental breakdown, Evan is sought by a secret group that call themselves "Infinites," revealing to him that his memories may be real-but they are from multiple past lives.

Actor and Disability Rights Activist Liz Carr Speaks Out Against Legalizing Assisted Death in the US, ‘They Think It’s Better to Be Dead Than to Be Disabled’
Image
Liz Carr, known for starring in the third season of the fantasy comedy “Good Omens” and playing a forensic scientist in the crime drama “Silent Witness,” supports the U.S. government’s refusal to outright legalize euthanasia in the nation.

The actress and disability rights activist argued how these programs may have cultural implications on the lives of people with disabilities. Arguing, “For somebody who loses their job or a loved one and is left feeling suicidal, others will rally around and support them with suicide prevention help,” she said to Daily Mail, “But as soon as that’s a disabled or ill person, people think it’s fine for them to have a medically-assisted death. They think it’s better to be dead than to be disabled.”

Legalizing such an option, she believes, might encourage disabled people to end their lives prematurely with the belief they must “stop being a burden” to those around them.

The Witcher Set Photos Reveal New Look At Liam Hemsworth As Geralt & First Glimpse Of A New Character
Image
Netflix recently revealed our first official look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia with a brief teaser promo for season 4 of The Witcher, but some new set photos give us arguably our best look yet at the actor fully suited-up as the titular monster hunter.

The shoot is believed to be winding down, with scenes for the final two episodes being filmed in North Wales around Llanberis, near Padarn Lake.

The recent third season of Netflix's fantasy adventure series was original Geralt actor Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel star announced his decision to part ways with the streamer's adaptation of the best-selling novels back in 2022.

Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as Geralt from season 4 on, and these snaps show the actor standing alongside Laurence Fishburne, who will make his debut in season 4 as Regis. The photos also feature Meng’er Zhang as Milva, Eamon Farren as Cahir,...

The Witcher Season 4 Set Photos Reveal First Look At Liam Hemsworth As Geralt Of Rivia
Image
More photos from the set of The Witcher season 4 have been shared online, and this time we have an actual first glimpse of Liam Hemsworth suited-up as Geralt of Rivia!

The recent third season of Netflix's fantasy adventure series was original Geralt actor Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel star announced his decision to part ways with the streamer's adaptation of the best-selling novels back in 2022.

Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as the titular monster hunter from season 4 on, and a recent photo from the set featured his stunt-double Joel Adrian in-costume. Adrian looked enough like Hemsworth to fool a lot of people, but these snaps spotlight the man himself.

The photos show Hemsworth as Geralt doing battle with Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), and appear to be recreating a scene from season 3 which saw the mage emerge victorious. There is also one shot of Geralt...

The Witcher: Liam Hemsworth's Stunt Double Suits-Up As Geralt In New Season 4 Set Photo
Image
The recent third season of The Witcher was Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel actor announced his decision to part ways with Netflix's adaptation of the best-selling fantasy novels back in 2022.

Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as Geralt of Rivia from season 4 on, and a new photo from the season 4 set gives us a first look at the updated costume the actor will don for the role.

Though the image did fool us at first, this is not actually Hemsworth himself (although he does look quite a bit like him), but his stunt-double Joel Adrian.

During a recent interview with Collider, co-star Freya Allan said she's looking forward to seeing what Hemsworth brings to the role, but is also concerned about the level of fan backlash he's sure to receive.

“I don’t want to speak for him, but from what I’ve understood,...

Two versions will be available; a limited edition with rooted hair, and another with a traditional head sculpt.

"Exquisitely crafted based on the screen appearance of Tom Hiddleston as God Loki in the finale, the figure features a newly developed head sculpt with separate rolling eyeballs," reads the official product description. "The fabric costume has been finely tailored to match Loki's on-screen appearance,...

Loki Season 2 Episode 4 Review: The Confusing Heart of the Tva
Image
This Loki review contains spoilers.

Loki Season 2 Episode 4

“I promise you this will make sense.” Loki says those words to Sylvie, who just watched him prune another Loki in front of her. But Tom Hiddleston delivers the lines directly at the camera, as if speaking directly to the viewers.

Even before Victor Timely moves toward the temporal loom and promptly explodes (“Time to recast Kang?” many internet commenters wondered at once), there’s a sense of finality to the episode,...

Loki Easter Egg Confirms Marvel Hasn’t Forgotten About One of Their Most Divisive Movies
Image
This article contains spoilers

Loki season two continues to drop Easter eggs left, right, and center, but in its second episode the show happily climbs aboard Marvel’s “running gag” bandwagon by throwing in a visual reference to one of the MCU’s most divisive movies: Eternals.

During the opening scene of this week’s Loki, the God of Mischief and his Tva analyst Bff Mobius (Owen Wilson) travel back in time to capture the slimy Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal), a Tva hunter and variant who has absconded to a past point on the Sacred Timeline to build the life he never got to have as a 70s movie star.

At the premiere of his latest film, Zaniac, Loki and Mobius roll up to the red carpet, but not before passing a range of posters advertizing upcoming feature presentations, one of which happens to star Kumail Nanjiani’s Bollywood actor Kingo from Eternals!

Everything to know about ‘Loki’ Season 2

If there is one constant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is that Kevin Feige and the powers that be never let fans go too long without a visit from the devilishly charming God of Mischief. Since then, we’ve seen Peter Parker (Tom Holland) recreate the famous multiple Spider-Man meme, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) traverse the multiverse to defeat Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Majors portray a Kang variant known for conquering the Quantum Realm in “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.”

All of this is to say that it’s nearly time for our regularly scheduled visit from everyone’s favorite mischief maker. So ahead of “Loki” Season 2, here are five things you need to...

‘Loki’ Review: Season 2 Brings More Likable Pointlessness, Plus Ke Huy Quan
Image
In Doctor Who, the phrase “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” has become synonymous with both the nature of time itself — short version: time is a nonlinear mess — and how woefully inadequate our layperson’s vocabulary is when it comes to blathering about time.

Whether you generally understand the intricacies of time and time travel but can’t formally express them, or your head immediately starts to explode the second somebody mentions killing Baby Hitler, it’s simpler to attribute temporal circumstances to “wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff” than pretend you’re Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The handiness of the phrase came to mind more than a few times while I watched the second season of Disney+’s Loki, on which the creative team has absolutely succeeded in using Marvel’s money to make a wildly expensive season of Doctor Who featuring Tom Hiddleston as the Doctor. It’s such a perfectly...
