DC Studios’ 2025 San Diego Comic-Con presence centered around season two of Peacemaker, premiering August 21, 2025 on HBO Max. The Peacemaker panel was one of the most popular at this year’s Comic-Con, and the “Peacefest” activation with props from the series and a live concert was one of the most sought-after tickets.

The panel started with the long-awaited trailer for the second season. In it, John Cena’s Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, finds himself in a new parallel universe. It looks just like our world, maybe even better.

In this place, he gets to be with Harcourt, played by Jennifer Holland. But back in the regular world, Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. is working hard to shut the portal and go head-to-head with Peacemaker. The Peacemaker season 2 panel is taking place in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con, and we now have a new trailer for the HBO Max series.

Shortly before this was released, James Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker is set in the Dcu and takes place one month after the events of Superman. So, while it might have made sense to some fans for Christopher Smith to travel from the Dceu to the Dcu, that's not the story being told here.

Gunn did, however, confirm that the Dcu is made up of at least 100 universes, one of which is presumably Matt Reeves' Batverse.

Peacemaker season 2 follows the Dcu's Peacemaker, who discovers an alternate reality where he's a beloved hero, in love with Emilia Harcourt, and basically living his dream life.

The sneak peek also features Rick Flag Sr. gearing up to take the former Task Force X member down for his role in Rick Flag Jr.

And that’s just what audiences did at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, the trailer premiere for the second season of Peacemaker was showcased ahead of its August 21st premiere. As for the timeline of season two of Peacemaker, it is set one month after the events of James Gunn’s Superman, with both Guy Gardner / Green Lantern and Maxwell Lord set for the first episode. It also finds Peacemaker in an alternate universe where he is loved. The season will also see John Cena portraying multiple versions of the character. Other details the panel hit on included the music, which they assured would feature more modern music, with a lot of bands from the past decade or so.

Peacemaker is torn between a world where a livid Rick Flag Sr. wants vengeance, and a parallel world where the grass looks awfully greener, in a new Season 2 trailer unveiled Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con.

Details on Peacemaker‘s Season 2 storyline had been scarce for a long while, aside from showrunner/DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn saying, “It essentially picks up where Season 1 left off, with a couple minor differences” — including the fact that the Justice League that Peacemaker crossed paths with in the finale doesn’t exist yet.

Star John Cena dressed up in full costume as his DC Universe character Peacemaker for the show’s Hall H panel. He was joined by showrunner and DC Studios co-president James Gunn and co-stars Frank Grillo, Jennifer Holland, Frank Grillo, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Sol Rodriguez and Tim Meadows.

The panel kicked off by showing the new Season 2 trailer, which reveals that Cena’s Peacemaker travels through a portal to an alternate dimension where “the grass is greener.” Down on his luck and rejected by Holland’s Emilia Harcourt, Peacemaker runs away to a new universe, which causes inter-dimensional problems. Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., head of the mysterious DC Universe company A.R.G.U.S., also searches for Peacemaker, who killed his son Rick Flag Jr. (played by Joel Kinnaman in “The Suicide Squad”).

Superman delivers one of the most despicable interpretations of Lex Luthor to date. The villain is determined to destroy the Man of Steel at all costs and finds himself surrounded by a team willing (or terrified enough) to do anything he demands of them.

Now, at least two of those Luthorcorp lackeys have been confirmed for Peacemaker season 2. Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that, in a previously released featurette for the HBO Max series, Otis (Terence Rosemore) and Sydney (Stephen Blackehart) can be seen alongside Rick Flag Sr.

In Superman, Otis doesn't hesitate to obey Lex's every order and seems more than happy to unleash destruction on Metropolis if it means bringing down its alien protector.

A new 30-second teaser for Peacemaker season 2 is playing in select theaters, and it's now found its way online. While the first trailer saw Christopher Smith come face-to-face with his doppelgänger, this sneak peek confirms the confrontation is playing out in another reality.

Needless to say, this has raised questions about whether James Gunn intends to bring the Dceu's Peacemaker into the Dcu rather than simply introducing a new Dcu version with a similar history.

Peacemaker season 2's "canon" status has been a hot topic of debate among fans, especially as its characters played such a prominent role in the Dceu. Gunn addressed that last year by saying, "In Creature Commandos, you'll hear them talk about things that happened in [The] Suicide Squad or Peacemaker. Well then, those things automatically become canon."

"The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League," the Superman director added.

"It's just me and John [Cena] and Peacemaker," he told a fan who asked whether it will be a Peacemaker-specific panel or one for DC Studios as a whole. "Though of course I'll talk about everything."

The first trailer for Peacemaker season 2 kicked off with the "Justice Gang" and ended with the title character pointing a gun at another version of himself. Unsurprisingly, that's quickly led to speculation about the series featuring some type of Multiverse element. 

Peacemaker season 2 was in the works before DC Studios was formed, no great surprise when the first season, which spun out of the events of 2021's The Suicide Squad, was a critical and ratings hit on Max. 

Many fans have raised questions about how Peacemaker season 2 will fit into the wider Dcu tapestry, especially as some moments from the Dceu remain canon, while the majority of others do not. Complicating matters in the case of Peacemaker is the fact that all of the show's leads will return, played by the same actors, despite nearly everyone else being recast.

A new still from Peacemaker Season 2 gave fans their first official glimpse of Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, a character with deep ties to Batman lore in DC Comics. In the image, Sasha is dressed in sharp work attire and stands face-to-face with Langston Fleury, an Argus agent played by Tim Meadows. Fleury appears frustrated, yelling or frustratingly explaining something, while Sasha listens.

DC Studios released the first trailer for Peacemaker season 2 earlier today (watch it here if you missed it). While the presence of Maxwell Lord, Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl is a huge talking point, the preview featuring not one, but two Peacemakers is another.

We can safely say that there's a Multiversal component at play. However, we'd imagine this has something to do with the pocket dimension we first visited in season 1, rather than being a convoluted way of explaining how Christopher Smith ends up in the Dcu.

Still, we can't discount that, and fans have spotted The Suicide Squad star Michael Rooker in the sneak peek. Is the Guardians of the Galaxy star reprising his role as Savant—the cowardly villain who had his head blown off by Amanda Waller in the 2021 movie—or playing someone else entirely?

We'd guess it's the latter as Rooker is seemingly playing...

The lengthy teaser for Peacemaker season two has DC fans geeking out over the appearances of Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) at the beginning of the trailer. The two and a half minute trailer also features new A.R.G.U.S. leader Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) and Langston Fleury (Tim Meadows), who proves he’s horrible at coming up with nicknames.

On Friday, Max debuted the first trailer for Season 2 of Peacemaker, the Emmy Award-nominated series from DC Studios boss and Superman filmmaker James Gunn. (The show was nominated for best stunts in 2022.)

Season 2 picks up with the titular Peacemaker aka Christopher “Chris” Smith (John Cena), as “he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.”

The streamer also released the first full trailer, which opens with John Cena’s Chris/Peacemaker being grilled by Justice League’s Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (Isabel Merced) and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn).

“Can you tell us a little about your skills,” asks Green Lantern, to which Peacemaker/Chris replies “I’m considered the finest marksman in the world,” “Microphone is off?” we hear Hawkgirl say. Cena’s Chris continues touting his skills, saying “I am also proficient in hand-to-hand combat.” But the three are not impressed. At one point we hear “This guy sucks”.

James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Extended Universe is kicking off in style this year. We already knew that Gunn's Superman movie is coming out on July 11. Now we have confirmation that the second season of Peacemaker will follow soon after; it starts streaming on Max on August 21.

The return of Peacemaker is very exciting for fans who enjoyed the first season of the show, which stars John Cena as the dysfunctional antihero Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker. John Cena’s very R-rated DC superhero has returned in the first trailer for “Peacemaker” Season 2, created by DC Studios co-chief James Gunn. The first poster for Peacemaker season 2 has been released, with the trailer now confirmed for tomorrow. Some of you may be disappointed that this is getting a push before Superman's first full trailer lands, but the Man of Steel did recently get a 5-minute sneak peek and featurette.

This latest sneak peek, which follows yesterday's TV spot, doesn't reveal much, but puts the spotlight on the title character and Eagly. It's also accompanied by the tagline, "There is no I in Peace."

Plot details for season 2 are being kept a closely guarded secret, though there are rumblings that, among the changes made when we follow Smith into a new reality, will be the fact that his father and brother are alive again. Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. will also be out for revenge after learning of Peacemaker's role in his son's death.

During Inside the NBA on TNT yesterday evening, a new TV spot for Peacemaker season 2 aired. Offering our best look yet at the Dcu TV series, we see the show's leads forced to resign themselves to the fact they're not considered heroes, despite saving the world.

It appears that Peacemaker and company will return to White Dragon's lair, though they seem to be on the run from someone.

Rick Flag Sr., perhaps? This preview confirms he's on the hunt for Christopher Smith and eager to avenge what happened to his son in The Suicide Squad.

James Gunn has previously revealed that Flag takes over A.R.G.U.S. from Amanda Waller (we're guessing that was meant to be explained in the Waller TV series that's stalled), leading to him learning the truth about what happened in Corto Maltese.
