Prime Video has pushed The Green Inferno back into the spotlight, nearly ten years after its theatrical release. Eli Roth’s Amazonian nightmare, once dismissed as a niche horror curiosity, has clawed its way into the top 10 global Prime Video rankings. According to Flixpatrol, it took the ninth spot yesterday, with 72 points on its very first day. This is a notable bump for a film that barely crossed $13 million at the box office when it opened.

What Is The Green Inferno About?

The Green Inferno brought a brutal throwback to the Italian cannibal genre, long before Midsommar sent audiences spinning. The story, inspired by Cannibal Holocaust, throws student activists into the Amazon rainforest, only for them to be captured by a flesh-eating tribe. It is more blood-soaked than most horror films made in the last decade, and it never really aimed for mainstream comfort.

Before there was Midsommar, there was The Green Inferno. The controversial horror film, directed by Eli Roth, riffed on the Italian exploitation movie Cannibal Holocaust, and followed a group of activists who are taken prisoner by a cannibalistic tribe in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. The Green Inferno was a particularly gruesome film, far more extreme than most mainstream horror that's produced these days. While it didn't set the box office on fire — it made its money back, though — the movie was almost engineered for home video success. And as it celebrates a decade, it has witnessed a spike in viewership on Prime Video.

According to FlixPatrol, The Green Infernoclaimed the ninth spot on the global Prime Video charts on July 18, earning 72 points on its first day of availability. The list was topped by the holdover hit Heads of State, starring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Everything else, however, is rather lackluster, even when John Wick (Keanu Reeves) himself shows up to aid Eve in her mission. Of course, watching Reeves in action is always a welcome sight, especially when his Wick veers into morally complex extremes. However, the character's presence in this time period (which takes place between the third and fourth "Wick" film) feels more jarring than plausible, evoking tonal confusion even when the Eve/Wick team keeps things interesting enough.

Max (soon to be HBO Max again) made it official, confirming the critically acclaimed, award-winning series will be returning for a fifth season. The announcement came just one day prior to season four’s finale.

The pickup for the Emmy-winning comedy from Universal Television comes two days before its fourth season finale. The current season has seen Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) realize her dream of hosting a late-night talk show — though with more strings attached than she would like — with Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) as her head writer.

A decade on, Borderlands director Eli Roth plans to return to his thriller Knock Knock – this time with a German remake.

For a relatively obscure, low-budget thriller, 1977’s Death Game has had a remarkably long afterlife. It was remade in 1980 under the title Vicious And Nude, and then again by director and co-writer Eli Roth, this time as Knock Knock, in 2015.

A decade on, and Roth has plans to re-tell the home invasion nail-biter once more: Variety reports that he’s set to produce a German-language remake of Knock Knock through his new company, The Horror Section. It’s all part of a deal recently made with the German production company, Construction Film.

Eli Roth’s filmmaking career is getting a fresh shot of life with his new venture The Horror Section, which will see Roth making new horror movies outside of the studio system. One of the first projects on the slate is a new original horror film Roth will be directing titled The Ice Cream Man, which he described as his “most terrifying and insane film to date.”

Variety reports that The Horror Section has signed a deal with German production banner Construction Film, said to be a “multi-year, multi-picture co-financing and production alliance.”

Two titles are already on the Horror Section x Construction Film slate, one of which is a German remake of Roth’s movie Knock Knock – which itself was a remake of 1977’s Death Game.

Released back in 2015, Roth’s Knock Knock starred Keanu Reeves, Ana de Armas, and Lorenza Izzo, and Roth will produce the upcoming German-language remake.

Max has released the official trailer and key art for Hacks Season 4, which will debut on Thursday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. Pt/9:00 p.m. Et. The ten-episode season debuts with two episodes, then one episode a week for four weeks.

Episodes seven and eight of the Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award-winning comedy series debut together on May 15, followed by episode nine on May 22. The season finale debuts on May 29.

The cast of the fourth season includes six-time Emmy winner and Tony Award nominee Jean Smart, three-time Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Hannah Einbinder, three-time Emmy winner Paul W. Downs, SAG Award nominee Megan Stalter, Emmy nominee Carl Clemons-Hopkins, SAG Award nominee Mark Indelicato, and SAG Award nominee Rose Abdoo.

The Hacks season four trailer is loaded with hilarious Deborah Vance and Ava clips. The minute-and-a-half trailer captures the dysfunctional relationship between the two and teases their on-and-off partnership won’t be any less tumultuous in the upcoming season.

The critically acclaimed, award-winning series premiered in May 2021. Season two debuted on May 12, 2022, followed by season three on May 2, 2024. Season four will arrive on April 10, 2025, at 6pm Pt/9pm Et with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes of the 10-episode season will arrive on Thursdays.

Hacks is back — and earlier than ever before. Season 4 of the Emmy-winning comedy will premiere with two episodes on April 10 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt, Max announced Tuesday, along with a trailer.

The rest of the 10-episode season will roll out with a single episode on Thursdays for four weeks, then Episodes 7 and 8 on May 15, Episode 9 on May 22, and the season finale on May 29 — right before the May 31 Emmy eligibility deadline. That's a tweak from previous seasons when the show would debut in May and air double episodes every week.

Season 4 will pick up in the aftermath of Ava (Hannah Einbinder) blackmailing Deborah (Jean Smart) to get the head writer job at the latter's new late-night show in the Season 3 finale. Max has released the trailer and key art for the fourth season of “Hacks,” which debuts with a dual episode premiere on April 10 at 6 p.m. Pt.

The official logline for Season 4 reads, “Tensions rise as Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) endeavor to get their late-night show off the ground and make history doing it.”

In the trailer, we see Deborah and Ava walk out of a conference room, tensions boiling between them. “Well, aren’t you a big brave girl?” Deborah sneers. “I guess I am. It’s for the best,” Ava quips back. Deborah looks Ava directly in the eyes before calmly responding, “We’ll see.”

The fourth season of Hacks will join the crowded spring TV calendar as a number of shows set dates to get in under the wire of Emmy eligibility.

The Max comedy, which is the defending best comedy winner at the Emmys, will premiere April 10. The 10-episode season will follow Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) as they work to get their late-night show up and running amid rising tensions between the two of them. Max also released a trailer for the coming season, which is below.

In order to make the full season Emmy-eligible, Hacks will have a somewhat odd release schedule: Two episodes will stream on April 10, followed by one a week for four weeks afterward. Episodes seven and eight will both premiere on May 15, with the final two installments of the season coming May 22 and May 29. (The Emmy eligibility deadline for this year’s awards is May 31.)

“Hacks” Season 4 is picking up right where Season 3 left off: with Deborah and Ava on the edge of war. The latest installment of the Emmy-winning Max original comedy will premiere with its first two episodes on April 10.

“Well aren’t you a big, brave girl,” Deborah (Jean Smart) menacingly says in the new trailer out Tuesday, rounding on her prodigy.

“I guess I am,” Ava (Hannah Einbinder) replies. “It’s for the best.”

The clip then cuts between several high-energy scenes, from Deborah dancing in a club to both Deborah and Ava driving literal race cars. Kaitlin Olson’s very pregnant DJ can even be seen briefly weightlifting.

“Blackmail on day one? Not good!” Deborah and Ava’s manager Jimmy (Paul W. Downs) yells. “She’s been doing this for 50 years. You’re not going to beat her at her own game. Nobody beats Deborah.” Maybe, not yet.

The Max comedy series “Hacks” in its third season has won the Golden Globe for Best TV Series Musical or Comedy at the 2025 awards ceremony.

For “Hacks,” this is the second time the Jean Smart-led series won the top TV comedy prize from the Globes, taking home the award in 2022 after its first season but missing out for Season 2 in 2023.

“Hacks” on Sunday was additionally nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for Jean Smart and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for Hannah Einbender. Smart previously won in 2022.
