Prime Video has pushed The Green Inferno back into the spotlight, nearly ten years after its theatrical release. Eli Roth’s Amazonian nightmare, once dismissed as a niche horror curiosity, has clawed its way into the top 10 global Prime Video rankings. According to Flixpatrol, it took the ninth spot yesterday, with 72 points on its very first day. This is a notable bump for a film that barely crossed $13 million at the box office when it opened.
What Is The Green Inferno About?
The Green Inferno brought a brutal throwback to the Italian cannibal genre, long before Midsommar sent audiences spinning. The story, inspired by Cannibal Holocaust, throws student activists into the Amazon rainforest, only for them to be captured by a flesh-eating tribe. It is more blood-soaked than most horror films made in the last decade, and it never really aimed for mainstream comfort.

Before there was Midsommar, there was The Green Inferno. The controversial horror film, directed by Eli Roth, riffed on the Italian exploitation movie Cannibal Holocaust, and followed a group of activists who are taken prisoner by a cannibalistic tribe in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. The Green Inferno was a particularly gruesome film, far more extreme than most mainstream horror that's produced these days. While it didn't set the box office on fire — it made its money back, though — the movie was almost engineered for home video success. And as it celebrates a decade, it has witnessed a spike in viewership on Prime Video.
According to FlixPatrol, The Green Infernoclaimed the ninth spot on the global Prime Video charts on July 18, earning 72 points on its first day of availability. The list was topped by the holdover hit Heads of State, starring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

This post contains spoilers for "Ballerina."
Len Wiseman's "Ballerina" understands that stylistic action is its most important quality. Whenever Eve (Ana de Armas) beats up her unusual villains during her quest for revenge (even using grenades to fight her way out at one point), "Ballerina" blossoms, giving us the impression that it truly belongs in the world of "John Wick." Everything else, however, is rather lackluster, even when John Wick (Keanu Reeves) himself shows up to aid Eve in her mission. Of course, watching Reeves in action is always a welcome sight, especially when his Wick veers into morally complex extremes. However, the character's presence in this time period (which takes place between the third and fourth "Wick" film) feels more jarring than plausible, evoking tonal confusion even when the Eve/Wick team keeps things interesting enough.
While Wick's presence in "Ballerina" feels tacked on, it is admittedly intriguing...

Chad Stahelski has a "pretty good story" for John Wick: Chapter 5.After the titular hitman’s apparent death in 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4, Lionsgate has greenlit a fifth outing for Keanu Reeves’ assassin, and Stahelski, 56, has teased the script he and scribe Mike Finch wrote is coming along nicely - though will only go ahead with the movie if they "crack" the story.Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about continuing John Wick’s story after his supposed end in Chapter 4, the filmmaker said: "I’m not going to lie to you, it’s a bit of a conundrum. Me and Mike Finch — the writer on 4 who’s also writing 5 — we’ve got a pretty good story that I think is cool. Once we have a 50-page book, and if we’re feeling it, we’ll sit with Keanu and shape this thing. "Look, everybody seems to want it. It...

Hacks is entering the record books at Max.
The streamer has renewed the series for a fifth season, which will make Hacks the longest-running live-action show in Max’s (admittedly not very long) history. Series creators and showrunnners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky announced the renewal Tuesday evening at an Emmy FYC screening in Los Angeles.
The pickup for the Emmy-winning comedy from Universal Television comes two days before its fourth season finale. The current season has seen Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) realize her dream of hosting a late-night talk show — though with more strings attached than she would like — with Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) as her head writer.
Hacks premiered in May 2021, when the streaming service where it runs was known as HBO Max. It has continued since the platform changed its name to Max in April 2023 — and with the renewal, season five will stream on...

Max is doubling down on Deborah Vance. The streamer renewed its Emmy-winning comedy “Hacks” for a fifth season on Tuesday ahead of its Season 4 finale.
The comedy’s creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky learned of the renewal news last week.
“We’re thrilled to be able to make a fifth season of a comedy,” Downs told TheWrap in an interview that also included Aniello and Statsky. “It is a very rare thing now, which we wish weren’t the case. But we don’t take for granted how fortunate we are to get to do it. We were really excited because we’ve always known where we want the story to conclude, and so to be able to continue to build towards that is so satisfying.”

A decade on, Borderlands director Eli Roth plans to return to his thriller Knock Knock – this time with a German remake.
For a relatively obscure, low-budget thriller, 1977’s Death Game has had a remarkably long afterlife. It was remade in 1980 under the title Vicious And Nude, and then again by director and co-writer Eli Roth, this time as Knock Knock, in 2015.
A decade on, and Roth has plans to re-tell the home invasion nail-biter once more: Variety reports that he’s set to produce a German-language remake of Knock Knock through his new company, The Horror Section. It’s all part of a deal recently made with the German production company, Construction Film.
Announced earlier this year, The Horror Section is an independent studio that will make ‘uncut, hardcore’ genre films, as well as TV, games and podcasts. By the sounds of things, it has a number of feature ideas...

Eli Roth’s filmmaking career is getting a fresh shot of life with his new venture The Horror Section, which will see Roth making new horror movies outside of the studio system. One of the first projects on the slate is a new original horror film Roth will be directing titled The Ice Cream Man, which he described as his “most terrifying and insane film to date.”
Variety reports that The Horror Section has signed a deal with German production banner Construction Film, said to be a “multi-year, multi-picture co-financing and production alliance.”
Two titles are already on the Horror Section x Construction Film slate, one of which is a German remake of Roth’s movie Knock Knock – which itself was a remake of 1977’s Death Game.
Released back in 2015, Roth’s Knock Knock starred Keanu Reeves, Ana de Armas, and Lorenza Izzo, and Roth will produce the upcoming German-language remake.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Hacks Season 4, Episode 6, “Mrs. Table.”] Hacks‘ latest episode, “Mrs. Table,” made way for a major breakthrough in Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava’s (Hannah Einbinder) relationship as the creative partners finally put their feud to rest, or so it would seem. Having kicked things off at odds after Ava blackmailed Deborah into giving her the head writer position at her new late-night show, the pair have spent the better part of this season bickering, and in Episode 6, Ava was pushed over the edge. When Ava’s ex, Ruby (Lorenza Izzo), was welcomed onto Deborah’s show as a guest, the actress and host ended up chatting about Ava’s proposal snafu from last season. And that was only the first layer to Ava’s eventual crash out, which was further sparked when her throuple relationship fell apart after she was kicked out of the relationship for wanting to keep things casual.

When Ana de Armas took center stage at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday night to accept CinemaCon’s action star of the year award, the Oscar-nominated actress revealed that she had another action star on her mind: Keanu Reeves.
“I met him when I barely spoke English when I moved to L.A. 10 years ago,” said the actress, recalling the history of their relationship. “I met Keanu for the first time in Santiago de Chile at lunch with the filmmakers of Knock Knock, our first movie together. We were sitting across from each other on the table, and I was really nervous, as you are when you’re in front of Keanu Reeves. I couldn’t talk to him much because I was so self-conscious about my English and I was really struggling and really trying hard to follow the conversation.”

“Hacks” Season 4 is picking up right where Season 3 left off: with Deborah and Ava on the edge of war. The latest installment of the Emmy-winning Max original comedy will premiere with its first two episodes on April 10.
“Well aren’t you a big, brave girl,” Deborah (Jean Smart) menacingly says in the new trailer out Tuesday, rounding on her prodigy.
“I guess I am,” Ava (Hannah Einbinder) replies. “It’s for the best.”
The clip then cuts between several high-energy scenes, from Deborah dancing in a club to both Deborah and Ava driving literal race cars. Kaitlin Olson’s very pregnant DJ can even be seen briefly weightlifting.
“Blackmail on day one? Not good!” Deborah and Ava’s manager Jimmy (Paul W. Downs) yells. “She’s been doing this for 50 years. You’re not going to beat her at her own game. Nobody beats Deborah.” Maybe, not yet.

Oh, it’s on between Deborah and Ava.
In the trailer for season 4 of Hacks, which returns April 10 to Max, Jean Smart’s alter-ego mutters sarcastically “well, aren’t you a big brave girl” now that her former writer (Hannah Einbinder) is now running Deborah’s new late-night talk show.
But the days of hugs and kisses are gone; the two are at each other’s throats, with Deborah watching Ava hit the ground in a failed trust fall, and the two going mano e mano in race cars.
The 10-episode season of the Emmy-winning comedy debuts with two episodes, then one episode a week for four weeks. Episodes seven and eight debut together on May 15, followed by episode nine on May 22. The season finale debuts on May 29.
For the new season, Hacks has lured Hacks Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman, and Eric Balfour for guest starring roles.

With the new thriller Laws of Man, award-winning actor Dermot Mulroney goes gritty with an intense and intimidating performance. It's something he's proved more than capable of for years, but it's still a far cry from the charming rom-com lead he became most famous for with titles like My Best Friend's Wedding, The Wedding Date, The Family Stone, Friends, and New Girl. He's set to make a return to the genre alongside another master of it, Malin Akerman with Perfectly Imperfect, and that's not his only upcoming project with Akerman.
Mulroney was recently promoting Laws of Man and took time to share about his pair of projects that co-star Akerman — and how their first one, a TV series called The Hunting Wives, led to their upcoming movie, Perfectly Imperfect. "We enjoyed working with each other so much [on The Hunting Wives]," Mulroney told us. "I got involved with trying to put [Perfectly Imperfect] together.

Jean Smart has won the Golden Globe award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for her role as Deborah Vance in Hacks. This is Smart’s third nomination in the category and her second win, previously taking the statuette in 2022.
“I never thought I’d be so happy to be called a hack,” said Smart in accepting her award. “I have the most brilliant showrunners, I have a cast and crew that were sent from heaven, especially my co-star Hannah Einbinder. You know without Eva there would not be a Deborah, and also the rest of our brilliant cast and crew and everybody at Max and Universal for unbelievable support over the years. We’re in the middle of Season 4 and we’re still having a ball, so thank you all so much for supporting the show and loving the show.”

Norman Reedus has teased ‘Ballerina’ will have a “different fighting style” to ‘The Walking Dead’.The 55-year-old actor - who fronted AMC’s beloved drama series as Daryl Dixon - will be joining the ‘John Wick’ universe with its upcoming spin-off ‘Ballerina’, and has explained the film’s action sequences will differ greatly to those seen in ‘The Walking Dead’.During an interview with Collider, Reedus said: “It’s a different fighting style, totally. “‘The Walking Dead’s very sloppy, this is very choreographed and a lot of people put it together to make it safe and look spectacular. “I’m pretty good with weapons after all this time, but it’s always a math problem, even on the TV show. Everything’s math. The fighting’s math. You show an arrow, bend out of frame, you come up without the arrow digitally, and you show another arrow. There’s a math there.

‘Ballerina’ director Len Wiseman has insisted Ana De Armas’ Eve Macarro is more than just a “female John Wick”.The 36-year-old actress stars as the budding assassin in the upcoming ‘John Wick’ spin-off movie 'From the World of John Wick: Ballerina', though the filmmaker has now emphasised the character is much more than simply a gender-swapped version of Keanu Reeves’ famed hitman. In a video featurette unveiled at the 2024 Comic Con Experience (Ccxp) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Wiseman explained: “This is not a female John Wick. This is a story about Eve coming into it from the beginning.”The ‘Underworld’ director admitted ‘Ballerina’ was a “challenge” to make, but insisted audiences would be impressed with the action and De Armas’ performance when the movie hits cinemas in June 2025. He teased: "It was a challenge. But a hell of a lot of fun. The action is incredible. “Fans are...
