iQiyi launches slate of Southeast Asian originals at Singapore Atf

New slate includes five Malaysian series and iQiyi’s first Thai original, directed by Kongkiat Komesiri.

Chinese streamer iQiyi’s international division launched six new Southeast Asian original series at the on-going Asia TV Forum & Market (Atf), including five from Malaysia and the company’s first Thai original.

Singapore-based iQiyi International also announced that its first Korean production, My Roommate Is A Gumiho, was its most popular original of the year, racking up more than 100 million views worldwide. Viewership for its Chinese-language content was four times larger in 2021 in terms of viewing time globally, compared to last year.

Muay Thai Meets Peking Opera Kung Fu In ‘Monkey Twins’ – Official Trailer (English Subs)
Cast : Zozeen Panyanut Jirarottanakasem, Sumret Muengput, Vithaya Pansringarm

Not sure how we missed this , but this looks like fun.

We are unable to find an official plot summary but from the trailer , it looks like we are in for some fun and a real mix of styles as Peking Opera actors trained in Muay Thai and Kung Fu do battle in this action-comedy.

Monkey Twins is produced by Nonthakor Thaweesuk who was also editor on Ong Bak 2.

The film opened last week across Asia and first reviews have been positive.

It’s something different and we certainly can’t wait to see it.
