To the disbelief of most everyone — including his mother and girlfriend waiting alongside him — Scher claimed to have booked the jazz legend for an afternoon gig, the modern equivalent of securing Kendrick Lamar for prom.

CBS made the shocking decision yesterday to pull the plug on The Late Show after over 30 seasons on-air, citing a "financial decision" amid the tenuous late-night landscape. This doesn't just mean the end of Stephen Colbert's time at the desk, but the end of a late-night institution powered by dedicated crew members and originated by the legendary David Letterman in 1993. It was hard to envision anyone carrying the torch after Letterman's departure, but Colbert managed to keep the fire burning for over ten years now, and he's on track to go out on top as the highest-rated of all late-night programs. As his and the show's successful run prepares to draw to a close in May 2026, his fellow hosts have spoken out in support of the former Colbert Report mastermind.

UTA has taken a step towards “evolving London into a major international hub” by appointing partner Darnell Strom to head up the agency’s UK office.

In the newly-created role, Strom, who reps the likes of Michaela Coel, Malala Yousafzai and the creators of Industry, will oversee UTA’s UK operation and continued expansion into key markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will will work closely with UTA’s London teams across music, creators, brand marketing, comedy, production arts and advisory services, while closely collaborating with Curtis Brown – acquired by UTA in 2022 – and the recently-bought Roof Football Agency.

The Academy is revealing new details about its star-studded awards show this weekend, announcing the performers set for Sunday. Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doja Cat, Lisa, Raye, and Queen Latifah are among those who will perform at the Oscars ceremony on March 2.

Grande and Erivo will perform songs from their roles in the musical Wicked, for which they are both nominated. (A short video announcing their performance teased the pair singing Wicked songs live “only at the Oscars.”)

ESPN is taking one last swing at broadcasting Major League Baseball games — and then hanging up its cleats.

The sports network will opt out of its TV contract with the MLB after this year, it announced on Thursday, ending a 35-year partnership with pro baseball. (The contract was set to run through 2028, but ESPN decided to opt out early.)

In addition, this music has won awards from the Washington, D.C., Area Film Critics Association, the Boston Society of Film Critics, the New York Film Critics Online, and the Philadelphia Film Critics Circle, to name a few. And while Blumberg doesn’t have any Oscar priors — this is his first nomination — one could certainly argue that he has composed the most conspicuous orchestral score.

Ben Folds has resigned as artistic adviser to the National Symphony Orchestra as President Donald Trump took charge of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

“Given developments at the Kennedy Center, effective today I am resigning as artistic advisor to the Nso,” Folds wrote on Instagram today. “Not for me.”

Days after performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl Lix, Jon Batiste has announced a new run of intimate tour dates for this spring.

Dubbed the “Maestro Tour,” the shows will see Batiste perform at a number of renown theaters nationwide, starting with the Citizens Opera House in Boston on April 5th. From there, he’ll perform at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, the Fox Theater in Atlanta, and the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, before wrapping on May 19th at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

That tally encompasses Fox, Fox Deportes, Tubi, Telemundo and NFL digital properties (including NFL+), and marks a record high for the Big Game — up 3% from last year.

When Jon Batiste performed the national anthem in front of millions of Americans watching the Super Bowl Lix broadcast from New Orleans’ Superdome, he paid homage to generations both past and present on the hallowed stage.

For the first time in the NFL’s championship history, Batiste weaved a sample into his rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner”: the Triggerman beat, first taken as a loop from a 1986 song by the Showboys and subsequently used on decades of hip-hop, bounce, and dance music, from Juvenile’s “Back Dat Azz Up” to Beyoncé’s Renaissance.

Updated, with additional comment: Donald Trump continued his takeover of the Kennedy Center today, as he named loyalist Ric Grenell to serve as interim executive director.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I am pleased to announce that Ric Grenell will serve as the Interim Executive Director of The Kennedy Center. Ric shares my Vision for a Golden Age of American Arts and Culture, and will be overseeing the daily operations of the Center. No More Drag Shows, Or Other Anti-american Propaganda — Only The Best. Ric, Welcome To Show Business!”

There is no executive director position at the Kennedy Center. Deborah Rutter currently serves as president of the arts institution, and it is unclear what her status is. In January, she announced plans to step down at the end of the year.

Grenell served as U.S. ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence in Trump’s first administration.

Donald Trump and Taylor Swift were both in attendance at Super Bowl Lix and, by all accounts, had widely different receptions. After being shown on the big screen during Jon Batiste’s performance of the National Anthem, Trump appeared to draw mostly applause. Swift, on the other hand, was loudly jeered by Eagles fans in the crowd.

Trump himself took notice and mocked Swift on his social media platform, Truth Social, including by sharing a meme that read, “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed – The world is healing!” In another post, he wrote, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got Booed out of the Stadium. Maga is very unforgiving!”

Two years after being beaten by the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl Lviii, the Eagles turned the tables and easily triumphed over Kc by a score of 40-22 to win Super Bowl Lix.

The Eagles began celebrating with two minutes and 52 seconds still left in the game, surprising head coach Nick Sirianni with a Gatorade dump.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Mvp.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles faced off again after meeting up in the big game two years ago, when the Chiefs prevailed in a nail-biter that ended in a score of 38-35.

This was the Chiefs’ third straight Super Bowl after winning in both 2023 and 2024. The Chiefs triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers last year. They also won in 1970 and in 2020.
